The Hindu columnist calls Bengaluru MP Tejasvi Surya ‘a virus’, changes headlines after receiving flak

Vaishna Roy, a columnist with The Hindu newspaper, published an article on Friday (May 14) titled ‘A virus’ in which she peddled the usual rhetoric of portraying Hindus as perpetrating hatred and Muslims as victims.

In that article she had called BJP Bengaluru South MP as a ‘hate fomenter’. The Hindu had put the title ‘A virus’ just above the picture of Tejasvi Surya.

Many on social media lashed out at the publication and the author for denigrating and dehumanizing a sitting MP.

Following the outrage, The Hindu changed the title of the article to ‘A battle on another front’.

As the author was being lashed out for her piece, she switched her Twitter account to protective mode.

This is not the first time that Vaishna Roy had spewed bile against the BJP and those opposed to her ideology. She had called India as a ‘morally corrupt nation’ earlier in March 2020.
