DMK Scion Udhayanidhi Stalin Threatens Journalist With Legal Action Over Post Praising Vijay Govt’s Film Show Policy

DMK scion Udhayanidhi Stalin has threatened legal action against film correspondent Rajasekar after the journalist praised the Vijay-led Tamil Nadu government for taking a more liberal approach towards granting additional cinema shows.

Rajasekar pointed out that previous governments led by both Dravidian parties had imposed strict restrictions on additional shows and cancelled early morning screenings. In contrast, he said the Vijay government had allowed Jailer 2 to have 8:30 AM shows despite the film coming from a politically rival production and distribution house.

He further said exhibitors had been given a free hand across Tamil Nadu and predicted that 6 AM shows could soon return, describing it as a “golden era for cinema”.

Udhayanidhi Stalin responded directly to the journalist, questioning his knowledge and threatening legal action.

“Hi Rajasekar.. how are you? Pls do some research and gain knowledge before posting fake news. Don’t make me take legal action next time .. take care,” he wrote.

His response triggered widespread criticism, with social media users questioning why a journalist expressing an opinion about the government’s cinema policy was being threatened with legal action.

Several commenters reminded Udhayanidhi that he was no longer in government and questioned whether this was how journalists and others who criticised the previous DMK regime had been intimidated over the past five years.
