Delhi cop found dead in mysterious circumstances, reports say he was investigating Delhi riots

Inspector Vishal Khanwalkar who was part of the special cell probing the Delhi Riots was found dead mysteriously in his car in the national capital on Saturday.

The 45 year old 1998 batch officer was posted at the Delhi Police’s Special Cell to investigate the Delhi riots.

The Delhi police had received a call at around 4:20 PM on Saturday regarding an unconscious person lying in a car at Rampura Main Road in Keshav Puram, Delhi. He was rushed Babu Jagjivan Ram Memorial Hospital (BJRM) hospital where he was declared brought dead. Post mortem results are awaited. Meanwhile, the police has launched an investigation.

The Delhi Police Crime Branch  had recently filed the charge-sheet in the Karkardooma court, which had accused nearly 410 people of orchestrating riots.
