Tirunelveli DMK MP along with goons carry out homicidal attack on BJP worker

In yet another incident of DMK leaders assaulting political opponents, S. Gnanathiraviam, the DMK MP from Tirunelveli along with his men thrashed a BJP worker at a public place on 8th October.

Avaraikulam Bhaskaran, a BJP functionary in the district was having his dinner at one AVM Hotel in Kavalkinaru near Valliyur.

At that time, the DMK MP barged in and started attacking the BJP functionary violently. His coterie of goons too joined in attacking Bhaskaran. They also broke the CCTV camera in the premises and took it along with them.

The DMK MP was later waiting outside in his car for the goons to beat and bring Bhaskaran outside the hotel. Bhaskaran fearing for his life stayed inside the hotel and didn’t even go to the hospital to get first aid. He later directly went to his home.

The next morning, BJP Tirunelveli District President Maharajan and other party cadres took Bhaskaran to a private hospital in the district.

This is the second such attack by an incumbent DMK MP.

T.R.V.S. Ramesh, the DMK MP from Cuddalore constituency has been accused of murdering a 55 year old man and is currently on the run from the CB-CID police.

The man named Govindaraj who was working at a cashew factory owned by the DMK MP  was found dead a few days ago with injuries marked all over his body. He was allegedly thrashed to death by the DMK MP and his men inside the MP’s office room in the factory.

BJP Tamil Nadu President K. Annamalai lashed out at the DMK and said that the party’s culture of violence prevails despite being the ruling party.

“From Biryani shops to tea stalls, people have been witness to DMK’s atrocities”, Annamalai said in his statement.

He also urged the Tirunelveli police to take action without bias and slap a case against DMK MP Gnanthiraviam.

Former Union Minister and senior leader of the BJP from Tamil Nadu Pon. Radhakrishnan staged a protest on the night of October 9 demanding action against the DMK MP.
