Prince Harry and Meghan Markle open up all about Megxit and more in exclusive with Oprah

In an exclusive and much awaited interview with Oprah Winfrey, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle opened up all about the controversies surrounding their exit from the British Royal household, the amount of scrutiny they faced for their decision, the buzz around the actual ‘Megxit’, and all things related to it. They also revealed that they were expecting a baby girl soon. The couple had earlier announced the pregnancy in February.

In the interview, Meghan opened up about the mental health issues, the struggles and scrutiny she had faced as an outsider inside the Buckingham Palace, and how there were constant remarks and snarky comments about the way she looked, the way she carried herself and her overall state of being. She expressed how she had constantly been reminded of the fact that she was an unwelcome outsider who had been ‘accepted’ by the Royals, like some sort of ‘pity party’.

Harry said that what had particularly influenced their decision to renounce their royal life were the “concerns and conversations” within the palace about their son Archie and “how dark his skin might be when he’s born.”

He also mentioned how, the moment he had decided to move away from his family and start his life afresh as a ‘non-Royal’ person, his dynamic with his family had flipped 360 degrees. He explained how his father, Prince Charles, stopped taking his calls, and that the family had stopped paying for the couple’s security at the start of 2020 – with this apparently motivating the decision to take on lucrative deals with Netflix.

This shocking account by the former Royals who have since then moved out and moved on with their lives afresh in the US, has been received with a sensational amount of reactions both on and off social media.
