‘Islamic radicalization in Kerala is a reality’, says six-time MLA PC George

PC George, who is a six-term MLA from Poonjar near Pathanamthitta in Kerala, is in the eye of the storm for saying that jihadi elements and minority radicalization in Kerala is a reality, reports Hindu Post.

“80% of Muslims are true seculars while the remaining 20% are jihadis. They are the ones who are real trouble starters. The Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) which was a secular party is now under the control of the jihadis. Their decision to field E T Mohammed Basheer instead of the originally planned candidate M K Muneer in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections was due to the jihadi influence in that party”, George said.

George made the statement in an interview with 24 News channel.

The MLA from Poonjar further asked, who destroyed the World Trade Centre in the US. He added that it was time we acknowledged the presence of Al Qaeda agents in Kerala.

George was giving an interview to news anchor Arun, a Left-leaning journalist from the 24 News channel. When Arun said there are ‘bigots amongst the RSS cadre’, George replied that the Gujarat riots happened only after Muslims burned down the Hindus. Naturally the Hindus retaliated and the Muslims had to bear the backlash, George said.

But the most profound statement he made was when he said, “Bharat is a Hindu-majority country and that is exactly why the minorities are able to live here peacefully”.

PC George had earlier contributed towards funding drive for the construction of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, and was criticised for this by the Left and Islamists.

In the interview, Gorge said that whenever he would speak at Popular Front or Muslim platforms, neither the Hindus nor the Christians called him communal. Neither was he criticised when he donated to other places of worship. “However, I was criticised when I held a T-Shirt with a photo of PM Narendra Modi and was attacked when I criticised M F Hussain when he drew nude photos of Sita Devi”, he said.

He further said that it is ironic that when he stands with Muslims, he becomes secular, but when he tried to protect the rituals at Sabarimala, he was branded ‘RSS’ and a few Mullahs issued Fatwas against him.
