“India will commemorate ‘Chabahar Day’ on March 04,2021 on the margins of the Maritime India Summit-2021 which is being held from March 02-04,2021. The event will be held virtually. Hon’ble Ministers from the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, the Republic of Armenia, the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Russian Federation and the Republic of Uzbekistan will participate in the event”, a press release by the Ministry for External Affairs said.

The Modi administration’s key focus in the recent years has been on connectivity via sea, with the Chabahar port to the West becoming significant in connecting India to Afghanistan and beyond. In January, India gave two cranes for the port to Iran.

The Ministerial level opening session is to be followed by two webinar sessions on the topics of “Development of Port Infrastructure: Unleashing Opportunities” and “Boosting Business through Trade Promotion and Regional Connectivity”, the press release added.
