CRPF Jawan injured in blast by terrorists at Gangoo, Jammu

One CRPF Jawan was injured on Sunday morning due to an attack at Gangoo, Jammu. He belongs to the ‘182 battalion’ of the CRPF. It is reported that the terrorists had used Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) during the attack. It was reported to be a low-intensity blast.

This incident took place at 7:40 AM (05/07/2020), following which the jawan was immediately rushed to the medical emergency room. It is suspected that the attack was targeted at the CRPF convoy that had been stationed there. The CRPF retaliated with aerial firing. The area has now been cordoned off. A search mission has now been launched to nab the terrorists.

A top police officer said, “A minor IED blast occurred near peaks auto crossing on Pulwahma road when a CRP ROP party was being deployed for movement of their vehicles. One constable GD Praeeep Daas of 182 Bn CRPF has suffered some minor injuries in his hands.”

It is to be noted that Gangoo falls under the Pulwama region, the same place where, on February 14, 2019, an attack by JeM terrorists had martyred 40 CRPF jawans. The bomb assembler of this attack had been recently arrested by the NIA. This is the second attack on CRPF in the last four days. A CRPF jawan and a civilian were killed in Sopore on Wednesday.
