Congress strategist Sunil Kanugolu has reportedly urged the party’s Delhi leadership to reconsider its alliance with the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) and explore a return to the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK).
According to the Junior Vikatan report, Kanugolu is seeking to use the differences between TVK and Congress over the Prime Ministerial candidate issue to push for a change in the alliance arrangement.
Kanugolu has reportedly told Congress leaders in Delhi that TVK has no intention of joining the INDIA bloc.
He is also reported to have argued that Congress should not rely on TVK chief and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay.
According to the report, Kanugolu has told the Delhi leadership that Congress should instead reunite with the DMK and leave the TVK-led coalition government.
The reported pitch comes amid tensions between TVK and Congress over the question of the Prime Ministerial candidate.
If the proposal is accepted, Congress would have to withdraw from the TVK alliance and seek a fresh arrangement with the DMK.
