TVK Model: Party Functionary Booked For Allegedly Sexually Assaulting College Student In Kanyakumari, Goes Absconding

A functionary of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) has been booked by Thakkalai police in Kanyakumari district for allegedly sexually assaulting a college student after offering her a ride in his car. The accused, identified as Christopher, is reportedly absconding, and police are searching for him.

According to reports, the victim is a second-year MA student at a private college in Nagercoil and hails from the Kulasekaram area of Kanyakumari district. She regularly travelled to and from college with another female student from the nearby Moolachel area.

On Wednesday evening, after college hours, the two students were waiting for a bus at Kottumala to return home when Christopher, a resident of Maruthancode near Thakkalai and a member of TVK’s central district executive committee, arrived in a car.

He allegedly offered to help the students get home and took them in his vehicle. After dropping the other student at Moolachel, Christopher reportedly told the victim that he would drop her at her home in the Kulasekaram area and drove away with her alone.

According to the complaint, Christopher stopped the car while it was raining and allegedly sexually assaulted the student. When she raised an alarm and attempted to escape from the vehicle, he reportedly tried to pacify her before dropping her outside her home and fleeing.

The student subsequently informed her parents about the incident and lodged a complaint at Kothicode police station along with them. Following an initial inquiry, the case was transferred to Thakkalai police station for further investigation.

Thakkalai police have registered a case against Christopher under Sections 75(1) and 75(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), according to the report. Police are currently searching for the accused.
