Commie Neha Bora’s U-Turn: Claims Bangladesh Uprising Praise Video Was Doctored, Denies Calling For Modi Govt’s Overthrow

Commie Neha Bora Praises Bangladesh’s Gen-Z Movement As Inspiration For Indian Protests; Yunus Had Called It “Meticulously Designed”

Commie Neha Bora who is also the president of leftist student organisation AISA has claimed that a video in which she allegedly appeared to praise the student uprising in Bangladesh was doctored and circulated by the “right-wing IT cell”. She has denied calling for the violent overthrow of the Narendra Modi government, saying her remarks were originally intended for a conference of a progressive socialist student organisation in Bangladesh.

In an interview with journalist Nidhi Razdan of Dekoder, Neha was asked to clarify her earlier remarks about drawing inspiration from the Bangladesh student uprising, following her clarification that the video had been doctored.

Explaining the context, Neha said, “So that video was made. So different organizations have which are organizations go through a annual procedure, biannual procedure whatever I mean that varies but there is a there are national conferences through which different organizations reconstitute themselves. I mean it goes on even in the RSS and in the BJP and it goes on in different other organizations also and they have been going on for a very long time in progressive left student organization. So the video that was doctored and circulated was actually made to address the national conference of the socialist student front which is the progressive socialist group in Bangladesh. Now that video was supposed to have been played in their national conference and I was congratulating the activists of SSF. I was saying that I take inspiration from the movement that they have erected in their country and the progressive fight that they are waging against their country’s authoritarianism, their country’s religious fundamentalism. So the video was about that and you know if you want to talk about Bangladesh you know I understand and it’s almost become a part of our society which is so sad because the BJP has trained us into this, that the moment you hear Bangladesh you have to become extremely agitated, you don’t know why you’re agitated but you have to fill yourself with hatred and whatever follows the word Bangladesh you have to condemn it. We’ve been trained into this by Godi media. We’ve been trained into this by the entire right-wing ecosystem.”

Neha maintained that the video was originally recorded to congratulate activists of the Socialist Student Front (SSF) in Bangladesh and express support for what she described as their fight against authoritarianism and religious fundamentalism.

Denies Calling For Modi Government’s Overthrow

During the interview, Nidhi asked Neha directly whether she was drawing inspiration from the Bangladesh uprising to call for the violent overthrow of the Modi government in India.

Nidhi asked, “I just want to set the record straight. What you’re saying here is you were not calling for the violent overthrow of the Modi government parallel to what happened in Bangladesh. You were not saying that. You were actually praising the progressive students organization. Is that correct?”

Neha responded, “Of course ma’am of course. I mean, even the rightwing needs to understand that you cannot accuse a person who has been sitting on 23 days of hunger strike that she’s calling for violence…”

She argued that her remarks had been taken out of context and rejected the allegation that she was advocating violence against the Indian government.
