Why Islamist Terrorist Sharjeel Imam Should Rot In Jail Forever

Sharjeel Imam is currently in custody in connection with the 2020 Delhi riots, facing charges of sedition and criminal conspiracy. While the judicial system grinds through the legalities of those specific charges, with the Supreme Court recently noting there is prima facie material against him, the public debate often gets lost in legalese.

But if you want to understand why the authorities view him as a threat, and why he needs to stay behind bars, you don’t need to look at the legal briefs. You just need to look at his own digital footprint.

The material compiled here are not just random rants. They form a complete, decades-long ideological blueprint. They show a man who does not just disagree with the government, but fundamentally rejects the Indian state, its territorial map, its armed forces, its Constitution, and its foundational heroes.

Here is the truth, laid out in his own words.

Rejecting the Map of India

The rejection of the Indian state begins with the rejection of its geography. In an October 2017 tweet, Imam openly mocks the Indian education system: “Haha. class 6 se humein rozana baad namaz isha nana marhoom PTV news dikhate the. tab ja ke pata chala ke school wala India ka map scam hai” (From class 6, we were shown Pakistani PTV news daily after Isha prayers. Only then did we realize that the India map taught in schools is a scam).

He wasn’t just criticizing a border dispute; he was calling the very concept of India’s borders a “scam.”

Glorifying the Partition and Jinnah

Imam’s political vision is not secular; it is deeply communal and separatist. In a 2018 tweet where he shared his article on Jinnah on why he remains ‘relevant’ even today, he wrote: “The picture of Jinnah should not be removed from AMU. Rather, we need thousands more such pictures.”

He goes further in a 2018 Facebook post, writing: “Jinnah who was an Indian Muslim for the first 71 of the 72 years of his life, is infinitely more relevant for the besieged Indian Muslim minority than for Pakistani Muslims… We must study Jinnah, in all earnest, to understand the myth of secular Congress.”

For Imam, Jinnah, the man who partitioned India, is a hero, and the secular, pluralistic Indian state is a “myth.”

Calling for the Dismemberment of India

Imam’s admiration for Jinnah wasn’t just theoretical. In a deeply telling September 2019 Facebook post, he argued that Indian Muslims made a mistake by choosing India instead of Pakistan. He wrote: “If there was a choice, the entire city of Hyderabad would have been packed and shifted next to Lahore”.

He framed the choice to stay in India as a trap of Hindu nationalists, stating that Indian Muslims are “besieged” (a word he uses repeatedly) and that the concept of “Hindostan” is a lie designed to humiliate them.

Attacking the Army and the Constitution

Imam’s hostility is not limited to political parties; it extends to India’s institutions. In 2011 and 2012, he aggressively amplified narratives against the Indian armed forces. He tweeted a The Hindu op-ed titled “No gentlemen in this army,” and a Guardian article titled “India must face up to Hindu terrorism.”

He also shared a Dawn article claiming, “The Brahminical specialist stranglehold on Kashmir is broken.”

He even attacked India’s foundational democratic document, tweeting in 2019 about his article on the “anti-Muslim bias in Indian Constitution” published in TRT World.

When it came to Sardar Patel’s unification of India, Imam defended the Nizam of Hyderabad, tweeting in 2017 that Patel “used the power inherited from the British against the defenceless peasants as well as civilians of Hyderabad.”

Calling India An ‘Occupier’ In Kashmir, Mocking Democracy

For years, Imam has used the language of an enemy combatant regarding Kashmir, framing India not as a sovereign state, but as an occupying aggressor. He actively promoted the narrative that the Indian Army is the sole obstacle to peace.

In a 2011 tweet, he shared a Dawn article explicitly stating: “Indian army hurdle in way of Siachen solution.”

He also promoted Al Jazeera’s documentary “Repression and resistance in Kashmir” and “Indian army ‘halting peace in Kashmir’.”

He didn’t just share foreign media; he attacked Indian media for not being biased enough. In 2019, he promoted his own article, tweeting: “My article about the dishonesty of Indian media vis a vis Kashmir conflict. Please read, comment and share: One Sided Coverage of Kashmir Affairs…”

His hostility toward the Indian political process was clear as early as 2011, when he tweeted “Demand for action on Modi grows | The Asian Age”.

In 2019, he tweeted “#1MonthOfKashmirShutdown. One month of Indian siege of Kashmir” calling India the beseiger.

His contempt for the Indian political process is evident in a 2012 tweet: “Why a Hindutva-vadi should not be the Prime Minister of India.”

For Imam, the Indian ballot box is not a solution; it is a threat.

The Bizarre Worldview: Redefining Faith and Politics

Imam’s ideology is a radical mash-up of hardline Islamism and far-left rhetoric, which he uses to mask his true allegiances.

In a 2019 Facebook post, he lists “polytheism” (shirk) in modern terms, equating nationalism with idol worship (watan-parasti), secularism with materialism (dahr-parasti), and liberalism with ego-worship (nafs-parasti). He views the Indian Left as expendable tools, mockingly announcing a pause on his “revolutionary struggle” during Durga Puja because CPI(M) “comrades” temporarily become idol-worshippers.

He also uses selective victimhood to deflect from radical Islamic terrorism.

In 2011, he tweeted: “Terrorist attacks in Pakistan have killed > 35,000 people, caused damage to the Pakistani economy totalling $67 billion,” linking to a Wikipedia list of terror incidents. He uses this to deflect from the actions of his own ideological ecosystem.

In a September 2019 post, he mockingly announced a pause on his “revolutionary struggle” during Durga Puja, joking that CPI(M) “comrades” temporarily become idol-worshippers during the festival. He even audaciously admitted to celebrating Pakistan’s cricket victories over India, stating that the Indian team is not “Team India” but a private, corrupt corporate entity, while proudly declaring his favorite poet was Iqbal (the ideological father of Pakistan) and his favorite bowler Wasim Akram.

His cultural allegiance to Pakistan is laid bare in a 2017 Facebook post about cricket. He complains about the backlash when Muslims celebrate Pakistan’s victories, writing: “Many of our youth are celebrating Pakistan’s cricket win… In childhood, I also participated in this many times.”

He then takes a bizarre swipe at Indian sentiments, writing: “Secondly, since childhood in Subzibagh, Patna, we knew the name and face of Saeed Anwar’s wife, but knew less about Ganguly, there must be a reason for that). He proudly declares his favorite poet was Iqbal (the ideological father of Pakistan) and his favorite bowler was Wasim Akram.”

The Ultimate Betrayal: The Delhi Riots

While he might have shared a Wikipedia link in 2011 noting that terrorist attacks killed 35,000 people in Pakistan, his actions in 2020 spoke louder. It was his speech in Aligarh—where he infamously called for cutting off India’s “chicken’s neck” to isolate the Northeast—and his mobilization tactics that contributed to the atmosphere of the Delhi riots.

Inciting Indian Muslims with regard to partition seemed to be his hobby. Watch this video.

Why He Must Stay Behind Bars

Sharjeel Imam isn’t jailed for a tweet. He’s jailed because the Supreme Court found prima facie evidence of criminal conspiracy. Look at his decade-long digital blueprint: he called India’s map a “scam,” claimed Hyderabad belonged to Pakistan, branded the Indian Army “Hindu terrorists,” and equated Indian nationalism with polytheism.

His call to cut off India’s “chicken’s neck” wasn’t a slip—it was the violent culmination of years spent telling minorities this nation is a “besieged” trap. He uses victimhood to mask a separatist agenda. Keeping him behind bars isn’t just punishment; it’s prevention. He deserves to rot there.
