
Nearly four years after the alleged encroachment of the MM Church at Palayam near Thiruvananthapuram, the Kerala Police have registered a case against 16 persons, including former South Kerala CSI Bishop Dharmaraj Rasalam and Congress MLA Praveen, following the intervention of a Kerala court, as reported in Hindu Tamil.
The case relates to the MM Church at Palayam, which comes under the headquarters of the South Kerala CSI Diocese. The church was allegedly forcibly takeover in April 2022, triggering a confrontation that drew widespread attention within the diocese.
According to the allegations, former Bishop Dharmaraj Rasalam, along with Vilavancode Congress MLA Praveen and their supporters, forcibly entered the church despite opposition from a section of the parishioners. They are accused of breaking open the church locks and unlawfully taking control of the premises, leading to violent clashes.
Although the incident took place in April 2022, no criminal case had been registered for nearly four years. Following the intervention of the Kerala court, the Museum Police in Thiruvananthapuram have now registered an FIR against 16 accused, including MLA Praveen.
