A 55-year-old church teacher was arrested under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act in Kanyakumari district on Monday, 6 October 2026, for allegedly sexually harassing a 12-year-old boy who attended Sunday Bible classes, as reported in Times of India.
The accused, identified as Roslin Vedhakannan, a resident of Palapallam near Colachel, was conducting Bible classes for schoolchildren at a local church every Sunday.
According to police, the Class VII student had been regularly attending the classes but recently stopped going. When his father asked him about the change, the boy allegedly disclosed that the church teacher had subjected him to inappropriate sexual conduct.
The boy’s father subsequently lodged a complaint with the Colachel All Women Police Station.
Based on the complaint, police conducted an inquiry and registered a case against Vedhakannan under relevant provisions of the POCSO Act. He was subsequently arrested.
