DMK Whines Over Hindi On Hospital Medicine Covers Printed During Its Own Regime

The DMK has found a new Hindi “imposition” crisis and this time, it is whining about medicine covers that were ordered and printed during its own rule.

DMK IT wing secretary TRB Raaja took to X to attack the TVK government after medicine covers at the Karur Government Medical College Hospital were found carrying instructions in Tamil, English and Hindi.

Raaja questioned whether the “three-language policy” was now being implemented in government hospitals and sought to portray the covers as evidence of Hindi being introduced under the TVK government.

There is just one problem: the covers were printed during the DMK regime.

According to the clarification from the TVK, the Karur Government Medical College Hospital had issued the order for these covers in December 2025, when the DMK was in power. The covers were subsequently printed at the Erode Cooperative Society printing press.

So, the DMK is now attacking the TVK over a medicine cover created under the DMK’s own watch.

And the irony does not end there.

The covers do not replace Tamil with Hindi. They carry Tamil, English and Hindi, allowing patients to read the instructions in whichever language they understand. This is particularly relevant in a state where large numbers of migrant workers from northern India live and work, and some rely on government hospitals for healthcare.

Yet the DMK has turned the presence of an additional language on a medicine cover into a full-blown political crisis.

Karur GH Confirms DMK-Era Change

The controversy began after photographs of the medicine covers surfaced on Tuesday.

But Karur Government Medical College dean M Bharathi Mohan clarified that the covers appeared to have been printed in December last year and had only surfaced now. He said they had been distributed unknowingly and that he had instructed staff not to use them for distributing medicines further.

That makes the DMK’s outrage particularly difficult to take seriously.

The party is complaining about Hindi on a product that was ordered and printed when it was itself in power.

The DMK is demanding answers from the TVK over a Hindi-containing cover that traces back to the DMK’s own tenure.

The question is not why the TVK introduced Hindi.

The question is why the DMK is whining about a Hindi medicine cover that its own government helped bring into existence.
