DMK legal wing deputy secretary I. Paranthaman launched a personal attack on Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay and Law Minister Nirmal Kumar, using terms including “psychopath”, “madman” and “childhood trauma” while criticising their conduct in the Assembly.
Speaking at a press meet, Paranthaman alleged that Vijay behaved like an actor rather than a Chief Minister during the Assembly debate on the Police Department’s demands for grants.
He said Vijay delivered a “rehearsed speech” with the intensity of a movie climax and accused him of leaving the Assembly without answering questions raised by the Opposition.
Paranthaman also directly attacked Vijay over his conduct and body language in the House.
“Just yesterday, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu behaved in the assembly exactly the way a psychopath would,” he said.
Referring to Vijay’s alleged gesture mocking former CM Stalin’s alleged broken jaw, Paranthaman asked whether such conduct amounted to body-shaming.
“Did he uphold Assembly traditions? Is it appropriate to use such body language in the Assembly? Should there be personal attacks in the Assembly?” he asked.
He also said, “Chief Minister Mr. Vijay, you shameless, dishonorable Chief Minister, if you possess even a shred of conscience or self-respect, consider this: our Leader of the Opposition raised fifteen questions. He asked for a response regarding the wrongdoing committed by the MLA from your own party in Srivaikuntam.”
Paranthaman also targeted Law Minister Nirmal Kumar over his remarks about MISA and his remarks on Udhayanidhi Stalin.
“Nirmal Kumar is the kind of person who peeks into toilets? That explains your mindset,” he said.
He then questioned Kumar’s legal knowledge and degree.
“Did you actually study law, or did you obtain a fake certificate? You claim to hold an LLB degree, is that a fake certificate?” Paranthaman said.
He went on to make a personal allegation about Kumar’s upbringing.
“Mr. Nirmal Kumar is someone who grew up with such childhood trauma. That is precisely why Tamil Nadu is suffering so terribly, having a madman serve as the state’s Law Minister.”
Paranthaman then suggested that Kumar should be admitted to a mental asylum.
“Please, before the next legislative session begins, admit this madman to a mental asylum, ensure he receives proper treatment, and only then allow him to function as a minister. As per constitution, insane personalities cannot be a minister.”
He later called Vijay a “shameless, dishonorable Chief Minister” and accused him of lacking the courage to answer questions raised by the Opposition.
“You lack the moral standing to answer these questions, and you lack the courage to even address them. You are a spineless Chief Minister who, without a shred of shame or embarrassment, fled the scene instead of answering the questions posed by opposition leaders,” Paranthaman said.
Paranthaman also attacked Vijay over his conduct during the Karur tragedy, alleging that he behaved insensitively while people were dying.
“In Karur, people collapsed and died, had you been arrested and imprisoned for it, you would have learned what jail life is truly like. People in Karur were collapsing and dying right there,yet you Mr. Vijay, acted like a psychopath; ignoring the tragedy, you stood atop a bus and sang songs. A human life is priceless. People were fainting and dying in Karur, but you, that psycho Vijay sang and campaigned as if you hadn’t seen a thing; you know nothing of Tamil Nadu’s history of sacrifice.” he said.
He further questioned Vijay’s political credentials, asking what sacrifices he had made before entering politics.
“What history do you have? What sacrifices did you make before entering politics?” Paranthaman asked.
The DMK leader also took another swipe at Nirmal Kumar during the press interaction, describing him as the “khaki-trouser” man and accusing him of retaining the same political tone despite changing parties.
“That tone is the BJP tone, the RSS tone. Who is it? It’s Nirmal Kumar, the ‘khaki-trouser’ guy, isn’t it? How would the tone change? The location might change, but for Nirmal Kumar, neither the trousers nor the tone will change.”
