While the Opposition manufactures street anarchy over exam irregularities, the Modi government is quietly overhauling legacy flaws and expanding opportunities for India’s youth.
In a healthy democracy, student activism has always been a vital force a crucible where ideas are sharpened, injustices challenged, and futures forged. Campus movements have historically served as the moral conscience of a nation, pushing leaders to act with integrity. However, what we are witnessing today in India is not the spontaneous outrage of idealistic youth; it is a cynical hijacking of impressionable minds by a beleaguered, power-starved Opposition desperate to manufacture anarchy where none exists.
The recent protests over national examination irregularities have been completely commandeered by the usual political actors: the Congress party, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), and their ecosystem of professional disruptors. In their eagerness to score cheap political points, these parties have turned legitimate student grievances into a hostile “street veto.” Genuine activism strengthens the democratic fabric, but when despondent Opposition parties exploit young students as political cannon fodder after suffering repeated electoral defeats, they do irreparable harm to the very cause they claim to champion.
Democratic maturity demands conversation, not confrontation; reform, not disruption.
A Government Committed to Action and Dialogue
The assertion that the government is indifferent to youth concerns is entirely disconnected from reality. The Modi administration has never shied away from direct dialogue. When concerns were raised regarding examination protocols, Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda himself met with protesting student delegations, extending an olive branch in good faith to address valid grievances.
No one disputes that paper leaks are unacceptable. However, unlike previous regimes that allowed systemic leaks to fester for decades without accountability, this administration acted with decisive speed. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government enacted India’s first-ever comprehensive federal legislation specifically designed to penalize and deter paper leaks.
Furthermore, structural overhauls are already underway, including plans to transition the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) examination to a secure digital format to eliminate legacy vulnerabilities once and for all. The government is not defending a flawed system; it is actively reforming one inherited from past governance failures.
The Reality of Youth Empowerment: Facts vs. Friction
While the Opposition peddles a narrative of victimhood and selective outrage, the empirical evidence on youth empowerment over the last twelve years presents a dramatically different picture.
Exponential Seat Expansion
- MBBS Seats: Increased by over one hundred and fifty-one percent, surging from fifty-one thousand three hundred and forty-eight in twenty thirteen–fourteen to more than one lakh twenty-eight thousand nine hundred and seventy-six today.
- Medical Colleges: More than doubled from three hundred and eighty-seven to over eight hundred and nineteen institutions nationwide.
- Postgraduate Medical Seats: Grew by over one hundred and thirty-five percent, expanding from around thirty-one thousand to more than seventy-eight thousand seats.
- Engineering Opportunities: Premier institutions under the JoSAA seat matrix offer over 67,000 seats in 2026.
Skilling, Sports, and Emerging Economies
Beyond traditional degrees, institutional avenues for young Indians have widened at an unprecedented scale:
- Apprenticeships: The National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme has engaged over fifty-six lakh apprentices since twenty sixteen, with annual intakes nearing twelve lakh.
- Skilling: The Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana has upskilled more than one crore sixty-four lakh youth.
- Sports Infrastructure: The Khelo India mission now supports over thirty thousand athletes with elite coaching, equipment, and financial stipends, directly powering India’s historic medal tallies at international sports events.
- Frontier Sectors: India’s space economy is projected to reach $44 billion by 2033, supported by over 400 private startups under IN-SPACe. Young engineers are actively designing satellites and payloads, while booming creative sectors spanning animation, gaming, visual effects, and digital content, along with high-tech industries in artificial intelligence, green energy, and semiconductor manufacturing, are absorbing lakhs of skilled workers.
Toolkit Politics and the Farcical Fringe
The quiet majority of young Indians are not shouting slogans funded by shadowy political toolkits; they are actively building careers and contributing to the vision of a developed India.
In contrast, the self-appointed “Coordinating Committees” orchestrating these protests reveal a profound lack of democratic understanding. Their public messaging frequently confuses the fundamental duties of the judiciary with the legislature, exposing an underlying political illiteracy dressed up as righteous activism.
We have seen this script repeatedly from Shaheen Bagh to the farm law protests. Manufactured outrage driven by Opposition funding has a limited shelf life. Once the political motives of Congress and AAP are fully exposed, these movements fizzle out like a damp squib. The “andolanjeevis” inevitably move on to the next disruption to chase media ratings, while the real India continues its forward march.
Progress Over Compulsive Protesting
The Modi government’s commitment remains unequivocal: to build a prosperous, fully developed nation by twenty forty-seven where every young citizen can thrive on merit.
To the genuine students with legitimate concerns: your voice matters. The path to lasting institutional reform lies at the negotiation table, engaging with a government that has proven its willingness to listen and reform. Do not allow desperate political actors to derail your future for their personal avarice. The youth of India have consistently chosen progress over compulsive protesting, and that choice will define the nation’s destiny for the next two decades.
