Muhammad Ansif (23), Muhammad Bustan (30), Ashiq (27), Pullara Abu (47), Suhail (28) and Babu from Malappuram, shot dead a pregnant wild buffalo on August 10. Reportedly, the not only shared the meat of the mother buffalo but also cut it open to kill and devour the fully grown foetus too.
Reports say that Abu shot the buffalo with his own gun. The full-grown embryo was found when they butchered the mother, which was shared amongst the members. The rest of the parts were dumped in various places in the forest.
25 kgs of meat was found at the house of Abu. The Forest Range Officer expects that there are more culprits.
The state forest department has arrested the six of them. The accused will be produced at the Manjeri court.
