Self-styled godman and POCSO accused Siva Shankar ‘Baba’ arrested in Ghaziabad

The Tamil Nadu Crime-Branch Crime Investigation Department (CBCID) arrested self-styled godman and founder of Sushil Hari School  Siva Shankar ‘Baba’ over the sexual harassment charges levelled against him by girl students who had studied in the school.

A lookout notice was issued against Siva Shankar yesterday in order to prevent him from leaving the country. Following this, it was reported that he had disappeared from the private hospital in Dehradun where he was admitted after supposedly suffering a ‘heart-attack’.

A few days back, a case was registered under the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act by the Kelambakkam Police in Chennai. Prior to that, the Tamil Nadu Commission for Protection of Child Rights (TNCPCR) had issued summons to Siva Sankar ‘Baba’ and the management of Sushi Hari school to inquire about the allegations. Siva Shankar had failed to present himself before the Commission following which three cases were registered at the Mahabalipuram All Women Police station (AWPS) under various sections of the IPC, POCSO Act and Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women Act based on complaints of the alumni.

The case was handed over to the CBCID last week. Police sources were quoted saying that Siva Shankar will be brought to Chennai after obtaining a transit remand.
