Police hand over bag containing more than ₹2 lakh to man who had lost it in Nilgiris bus stand

The Ooty police have returned a bag containing ₹2 lakh to an old man named Nanjan. Nanjan had lost his bag near Ooty bus stand of the Nilgiri hills and had been devastated. He had been raising that money for his grandson’s surgery.

This bag was found at the Ooty Central Bus Stand in the Nilgiris district yesterday. The bag was found by a female police officer named Rajkumari who was on security duty there. When she had looked into it, it was found to contain ₹2,27,000 rupees. But it was unknown as to who the owner of the bag was. She took it back to the station and handed it over to her superiors.

The investigation revealed that Nanjan (73), a resident of a private estate in Solur near Ooty, had left a complaint with the Ooty police stating that his bag containing money was missing. He had borrowed it from a friend for the surgery.

When he had gone to the bus station to go home, the bag containing the money had slipped and fallen down. This was when it had been found by the police officer. Following this, the police called Nanjan, the owner of the bag to the police station and had handed over the money to him.
