In a dramatic twist following India’s Operation Sindoor, Sky News interviewed a man presented as a “local resident” near a destroyed complex in Muridke — a complex that India says belonged to Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), a banned terrorist group, during Operation Sindoor. The man, identified by Sky News as Hanzla Ammad, insisted that the site was a mosque and a community space, denying any ties to terrorism. He said, “This is a mosque main area. This is the main prayer hall. This is the court, central court of the mosque.”
He further said, “Actually the government of Pakistan thought that it could be possible that India could attack this place due to all that allegations and all that propaganda that this place is a terrorist camp.”
When asked what response Pakistan should take following the damage to the “mosque”, he says, ” India has clearly violated international border and he is attacked here violating international border and killed civilians in the Pakistan and Pakistan has very right according to international law to defend itself.”
Talking about the impact of the strikes on the minds of the local people, he says, “Obviously they are worried and they are somewhat sad that their place of worship has been destroyed and demolished by India.”
Replying to a question on whether Pakistan has a terror issue, he peddled the usual trope, “Pakistan is a victim of terrorism right now.”
However, subsequent revelations suggest he is not a neutral bystander but a functionary of the Pakistan Markazi Muslim League (PMML) — the political wing of Lashkar-e-Taiba. Evidence shows Ammad was a main organizer of a recent PMML conference in Peshawar alongside Talha Saeed, the son of LeT founder Hafiz Saeed. This fact directly undermines his credibility as a disinterested local voice in the conflict.
After Operation Sindoor, @SkyNews interviewed Hanzla Ammad at the destroyed Lashkar-e-Taiba HQ in Muridke, claiming he was a local resident.
Actually, he is a member of PMML, the political wing of Lashkar-e-Taiba.
