Huts in Tiruvarur burnt to ashes due to crackers fired by the DMK

Thiruvarur, DMK leader late M Karunanidhi’s birthplace, is engulfed in grief as a poor man’s hut was destroyed by crackers that were fired during a campaign on behalf of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam in Thiruvarur.

Poondi Kalainathan is contesting on behalf of DMK in Thiruvarur district. He was campaigning in Balaji Nagar in Thiruvarur on Sunday. His party members who had gathered there to welcome him fired crackers which fell on the hut of Thiagarajan, a painter who lived near the campaign site.

Due to this, the hut caught on fire and started burning with a very high flame. Thiagarajan’s neighbors had rushed and tried to put out the fire. Later, the fire department was notified since the intensity of the fire started increasing beyond control. But by the time they arrived and put out the fire, the hut was completely burned to ashes and ruined.

Thiagarajan’s wife, who lost her house and savings due to the DMK’s campaign, burst into tears, leaving those present feeling helpless. The people of the area have demanded that the candidate immediately pay compensation to the family and build a new house. The public has been criticizing the DMK MLAs for coming to the area only during the election season and causing harm to the wealth and property of people.
