Dravidian Social Justice: Dalit leader Thol. Thiruma sits on plastic chair with hands folded in front of DMK Min

A picture of Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) head Thol. Thirumavalavan sitting with his hands folded on a red plastic chair in front of DMK Minister R.S. Rajakannappan who sits on a plush sofa has gone viral on social media with netizens calling it a blatant case of caste discrimination by the DMK.

Thirumavalavan called on Tamil Nadu Transport Minister R.S. Rajakannappan on the occasion of the latter’s birthday. Thirumavalavan, who represents the Chidambaram constituency in the Lok Sabha had presented the Minister with a bouquet of flowers.

One of the pictures in which the VCK chief sits with his hands folded on a red plastic chair in front of the Minister who sits on a plush sofa has attracted attention. Many on social media called out at the DMK if this was the social justice that they keep mouthing about on stages.

A Twitter user named Fervid India asked if this was the modern ‘two-tumbler’ system practiced by the DMK

Some pointed out that Thirumavalavan could have been made to sit on the sofa that was lying just next to the Minister.

Netizens also lashed out Thirumavalavan pointing out his duplicity on social justice politics saying that the Dalit leader has surrendered his self-respect for the sake of power.
