Chennai police on Wednesday, 16 September 2026, arrested DMK supporting Dravidianist journalist Damodharan Prakash, 58, in connection with a complaint alleging that he published a defamatory video targeting a woman who had worked as an anchor with the YouTube channel ‘Savukku Media’, as reported in The South First.
According to a police statement, the complainant, Malathi, 38, a resident of Adambakkam, alleged that Prakash, along with an unidentified person, had published a video about her under the title “HIV Savukku Malathiyum Kalyanam”.
The police said the video was published on the YouTube channel “King 24 X 7” in January 2026. The complainant alleged that the video showed her photograph and made defamatory, false and objectionable remarks about her personal life, including a claim that she was HIV-positive.
She alleged that the video had caused damage to her reputation and affected her dignity.
Based on her complaint, police registered a case at the S-8 Adambakkam Police Station under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Information Technology Act and Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women Act (TNPHW Act).

In the alleged video where he spoke derogatory remarks, he is alleging both Malathy and Shankar were having HIV.

Police said a team led by the inspector of the S-8 Adambakkam police station conducted an investigation into the complaint and arrested Prakash on Wednesday.
The police statement identified the arrested person as Damodharan Prakash, son of Damodharan, 58, a resident of Chintadripet, Chennai.
Police said further investigation is underway.
