DMK functionary stops people from getting govt’s Pongal allowance, causes public nuisance

In Ottanchathiram near Dindigul, a DMK Panchayat leader caused ruckus during the distribution of the Pongal allowance and rations putting the public at inconvenience. This caused a delay in the issue of rations, and an outbreak of a brawl between the DMK and ADMK party members.

This incident took place in the Periyakottai village, that belongs to the Ottanchathiram Taluka of Dindigul district. The issue of rations and allowance for the celebration of Pongal was inaugurated by officials from the ADMK.

Malarvizhichelvi, the DMK Panchayat leader belonging to the same village, arrived at the spot and created a huge ruckus preventing people from getting the money and rations. She questioned as to why she was not informed of this event, and argued that she was not being given importance. She went on to say that only she had the authority to issue the Pongal allowance, and created a commotion.

As result of this, public had to stand for over 2 hours as she incessantly continued to argue with the officials present in the ration shop. They vehemently expressed their displeasure over the issue and condemned this reckless act by the DMK official.
