DMK chief MK Stalin rubs off ‘vibudhi prasadam’ from hands at Muthuramalinga Thevar memorial without applying on forehead

DMK chief MK Stalin had visited the memorial of Pasumpon U. Muthuramalinga Thevar, on the occasion of Thevar Jayanthi (October 30), the birth cum death anniversary of one of the greatest nationalist leaders from Tamil Nadu.

On this day, ‘Guru Poojai’ is conducted in remembrance of Muthuramalinga Thevar at the temple cum memorial located at Pasumpon and also at different places across the state.

Like in every Hindu temple, ‘karpoora aarthi’ is performed and the ‘vibhudhi’ and ‘kum kum’ (vermilion) prasadam (offering) is shared with the people which is to be applied on the forehead.

Stalin who had received the ‘vibudhi’ prasadam had rubbed it off his hands without even applying it on his forehead in order to stick to his ‘rationalist’ credentials.

This has however not gone well with the Thevar community as well as with the larger Hindu populace who see this as yet another show of hatred towards their community.

The BJP Tamil Nadu unit has severely condemned the actions of MK Stalin calling it an insult meted out to one of Tamil Nadu’s most respected and revered leader.

Earlier in the day, the DMK got a taste of its own medicine with ‘#GoBackStalin’ trending nationwide. Since #GoBackStalin has been trending with #தேவர்ஜெயந்தி (Thevar Jayanthi in Tamil), speculations have arisen if whether the Thevar community is going against the DMK.
