“Crooked Person, Filtered Sanghi, Keep Your Tails Curled Or It Will Be Chopped”: VCK MP Thirumavalavan Goes On A Rant Against TN Guv, Trivializes Petrol-Bomb Incident

Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi’s residence Raj Bhavan located on Sardar Patel Road in Chennai was recently in the news after a history-sheeter Karukka Vinoth hurled petrol bombs at the residence.

The police, several politicians from the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) along with the local media have been dismissing the attack as an act of vandalism and also trivialised it by saying it did not happen inside the residence but at the gate.

Speaking at a DMK event, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi chief Thol Thirumavalavan went on a rampage to abuse and speak ill of Governor Ravi.

He compared the past governors with him and said there was no other governor in Tamil Nadu who had so much difference with the ruling government. He also accused Governor Ravi of being stubborn and said, “A crooked person is now the governor of TN.”

He also said, “When the name of the governor for Tamil Nadu was announced, it was VCK that asked for his name to be retracted immediately. He is not the right person. When he was the Governor of Nagaland, there were many protests against him. He has worked only to divide the people. if he comes to TN, then he will create a crisis for the ruling government and divide the people, there will be tension in the society because of him, so he should not be appointed as the governor of Tamil Nadu – we gave our feedback within 24 hours of the announcement, I am obliged to remind this now and then. He maintained peace only for a few months but showed his real face soon after. What he speaks is not his own but the government’s. At the Assembly when he was given the speech to read out, he left out sentences and words. He couldn’t say Periyar’s name, Ambedkar’s name. He refused to talk about women’s empowerment, social justice.”

He also added that whoever came to power in Tamil Nadu ruled the state based on the principles of Ambedkar and EV Ramasamy (hailed as ‘Periyar’ by his followers). He said that even though left parties accept Marxist principles they follow ‘Periyar’ and Ambedkar’s teachings majorly. He said, “See the arrogance of the governor that he does not follow what a government that is ruling by following Ambedkar and Periyar’s ideologies says, he is a contradictory, crooked personality. He is a filtered Sanghi, he is not RN Ravi but RSS Ravi. I was the first to call him RSS Ravi.”

He complained about how several petitions were lying with the Governor and that he was not taking action on any of them especially the one about releasing Muslim prisoners from jail. That is why, he said, they had organised the protest against the Governor by the VCK and TMMK (Tamil Nadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam).

He also warned, “Governor Ravi, your stubbornness may work in North Indian states, but if we are awake we will chase you so bad that you’ll be running helter-skelter with your hind legs hitting your back.”

He further added, “The people of Tamil Nadu will never give place to sectarian forces and will never allow them. To create drama, these people have hired someone to throw petrol bombs at the entrance (of Raj Bhavan) and create controversy. The police were very alert and confirmed that the petrol bombs were not hurled at the Raj Bhavan, a petrol bomb is nothing but a bottle with petrol that you light a fire to and throw it. They are pretending as if it is a big thing, it is actually nothing. No one hurled stones at the Raj Bhavan or threw petrol bombs. But they are creating tension that petrol bombs were thrown at the Governor’s residence itself. They are making it an issue at a national level. Law and order has deteriorated, and even the Governor is not safe! What nonsense is this? Stop all this, don’t wag your tails here in Tamil Nadu. Keep your tails curled (behave yourself) or it will be chopped. This is Tamil Nadu – a country where rationalists live, a country where democratic forces live, the land which stresses upon equality. Keep your lies and threats in North India, not in Tamil Nadu, the southern part of India.”

Petrol Bomb Attack Attempt On Thirumavalavan

Police thwarted an attack on VCK chief Thol Thirumavalavan as he planned to hoist his party’s flag in Vadaseri village in 2015. A group from a dominant caste in Vadaseri had intended to oppose the hoisting of the VCK flag in their area. Twelve individuals with petrol bombs were apprehended, and two police special sub-inspectors were injured during the confrontation. The police’s increased security measures and vigilant patrolling led to the prevention of the attack, with arrests and confiscation of Molotov cocktails and petrol supplies. Critics argue whether he would have dismissed the petrol bomb attacks like he trivialised the attack on Guv residence.

Thirumavalavan has been making such inflammatory speeches against the Governor and Sanathana Dharma every now and then. He, however, continues to be an ally of a party under whose regime caste atrocities like the Vengaivayal incident occurred.
