Petrol Bomb Hurled At Tamil Nadu Governor House, Same Person Had Earlier Petrol-Bombed TN BJP Office

In a shocking incident that indicates the plight of law and order under the DMK government, two petrol bombs petrol bomb were hurled towards the main gate of the Raj Bhavan in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Notably, this individual had previously thrown petrol bombs outside Kamalalayam (BJP Tamil Nadu headquarter) a few months ago.

The perpetrator of the terror act has been identified as ‘Karukka’ Vinod. Reports have stated that Vinod is a history sheeter with a track record of violence.

Vinoth pilfered gasoline from the motorcycles parked within the Saidapet Court premises. Subsequently, he proceeded to Raj Bhavan, where he transferred the stolen gasoline into two containers, ignited them, and then hurled them at the primary entrance of Raj Bhavan.

According to officials, the incident occurred at approximately 2:45 pm on Wednesday, with Vinod endeavoring to throw the bomb in the vicinity of the main gate of Raj Bhavan, frequently used by Governor RN Ravi.

A team of forensic experts investigated the place by collecting the fragments of the bomb shattered over the place.

Tamil Nadu police department which comes under the ambit of Chief Minister MK Stalin has however scheduled for a “mental health evaluation” but noted that an imminent arrest is likely.

This event is occurring in the context of the Tamil Nadu governor returning a state government proposal for the appointment of former Director General of Police C Sylendra Babu as the chairman of the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission. Notably, this is the second time the governor has declined this recommendation. When the initial recommendation was submitted shortly after Mr. Babu’s retirement at the end of June, Mr. Ravi had raised questions about the selection criteria for Mr. Babu and other candidates for the position. He also sought clarification on whether the guidelines of the Supreme Court had been adhered to.

Earlier in February 2022, ‘Karukka’ Vinod had petrol-bombed the BJP Tamil Nadu headquarters located in T. Nagar, Chennai.

Back then Tamil mainstream media quoting police sources had reported the incident peddling that the said Vinod committed the act to protest against BJP’s position on NEET.

The BJP had demanded a probe by the National Investigative Agency (NIA) after several reports of attack against party’s cadres. The party also complained about the need for the police to clean the place before forensics team collected evidence.
