“Brahmins in north India are rowdies”: VCK chief Thol. Thirumavalavan

Lok Sabha MP from Chidambaram constituency and the head of Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) has made a controversial statement in which he has called Brahmins of north India as ‘rowdies’.

Addressing a gathering organized by his party in condemnation of the Lakhimpur Kheri violence, Thirumavalavan said “In Kashmir, people who have the Pandit surname are the Brahmins of Kashmir. If people have the surname ‘Mishra’, then they are Brahmins of Uttar Pradesh. Comrade Ravikumar (another VCK MP from Vizhupuram) had mentioned a fact that the Bhumihar caste there also claimed themselves to be Brahmins and are the landowners who exist as anti-social elements and rowdies. Their history also shows that.”

“Therefore, with respect to Uttar Pradesh, rowdies are none but Brahmins. It is these ‘Mishras’. It is these Brahmins who do kattapanchat (khap panchayats) there. “, he said.

It is noteworthy to mention that the VCK chief recently protested and met Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin after the state police undertook a massive operation in which they arrested more than a 1000 rowdies. The VCK chief had protested saying that the state police is jailing his party men under the garb of taking action against anti-social elements.
