Is This The Real Face Of TN Congress Head Selvaperunthagai?

selvaperunthagai congress tncc

Irony died a thousand deaths on 17 February 2024 when K. Selvaperunthagai was appointed by the Congress high command as the President of the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee. His appointment came as a disappointment to many of the Congress leaders in the state. There’s a reason.

During the 2016 Assembly elections, Congress leader D Yashoda, who had previously served as the representative for Sriperumbudur in 1980, 1984, 2001, and 2006, raised concerns about Selvaperunthagai’s candidacy, alleging his support for LTTE. She had alleged that Selvaperunthangai is a staunch supporter of the LTTE and had joined the Congress with the motive of safeguarding his alleged “ill-gotten wealth”.

Selvaperunthagai’s criminal history and his “ill-gotten wealth” has once again become a talking point thanks to BJP Tamil Nadu President K. Annamalai. It seems to have started after Selvaperunthagai accused that criminals were enrolling in the BJP. In return, Annamalai accused him of being a history-sheeter during a press meeting after visiting the bereaved family of TN BSP leader Armstrong.

Annamalai refused to retract his words or apologise for his remarks. In fact, he even put out a list of crimes that Selvaperunthagai was allegedly involved in.

Annamalai in his official X account stated, “When I mentioned that Tamil Nadu Congress Committee President Selvaperunthagai was on the list of criminals, Selvaperunthagai said he was very upset since I have insulted him who came in the path of Mahatma Gandhi. Below is the path taken by the one who claims to be a Mahatma Gandhi follower.

  • Auditor Pandian murder case – main culprit
  • Case No. 24(A)/2001 of 2001. CBI Case Prevention of Corruption Act 1988, Section 13(2) r/w 13(1) (e)
  • Case No. 136/2003 IPC 307 of 2003 – Attempt to murder
  • Case No. 138/2003 of 2003 – Assault
  • 2003 Case No. 277/03 – Threat to kill
  • 2003 Case No. 451/2003 IPC 324 – Assault with dangerous weapons, IPC 506 – Threats to kill, Explosives, 1908.
  • It is noteworthy that in this case, he was apprehended under the Goondas Act.
  • 2008 Case No. 1464/2003 IPC 147 – Rioting, IPC 148 – Rioting with deadly weapons, IPC 506 – criminal intimidation

Attempt to murder case, criminal intimidation case, assault with deadly weapons case, rioting with deadly weapons case, explosives case, murder case, and many other cases which are some of the worst crime cases in society. Notably, there were three cases of criminal intimidation (death threats) were filed against him. Apart from this, the Auditor Pandian murder case.”

This led us to a video report from News J that surfaced a few years ago. The report questions the origins of the funds used to establish a college in London. This college is allegedly linked to TNCC President Selvaperunthagai.

Selvaperunthagai is said to have begun his political journey with the Puratchi Bharatham (Revolutionary Bharat) Party, and based on the party leader’s recommendation, he was able to secure a position as a peon at the Reserve Bank. Over time, Selvaperunthagai transitioned from a humble peon to a millionaire.

His political career, however, has been marred by controversy. Auditor Pandian’s assassination led to suspicions around Selvaperunthagai, resulting in his expulsion from the Puratchi Bharatham Party its leader. Seeking political refuge, he joined Dr Krishnasamy’s Puthiya Tamizhagam Party, only to be dismissed after his identity and past were revealed.

Subsequently, Selvaperunthagai aligned with the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), where his activities attracted legal scrutiny. During the AIADMK regime in 2001 and 2006, the Goondas Act was invoked against him due to allegations of amassing wealth illegally.

Despite these setbacks, he managed to secure a position in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly, representing Sriperumbudur for the VCK in the 2006 elections. However, he was expelled from the party after allegedly betraying its leadership.

Selvaperunthagai’s political journey did not end there. He joined the Bahujan Samaj Party led by Mayawati, only to be expelled shortly thereafter. Finally, he found a stable position within the Congress Party. He contested elections from Sengam and Sriperumbudur in 2014 and 2016, facing defeat in both attempts. However, he won the Sriperumbudur seat in the 2021 assembly elections, representing the Congress Party.

Interestingly, Selvaperunthagai, in his 2011 election affidavit mentioned that there was no cases or FIRs filed against his name.

However, as of 2016, it is noteworthy that there were lots of cases pending and atleast 3 major cases were live.

Selvaperunthagai’s alleged links to the Buckingham College of London have resurfaced, especially after it was revealed that his wife Umayal Selvam was listed as one of the directors. It is noteworthy that the website containing the details of the college’s directors also states that Umayal resigned in 2012.

It is notable that this allegedly bogus college was dissolved in 2017 and the website states that accounts are still overdue.

Given his humble beginnings as a Reserve Bank peon 30 years ago, the question arises: how did Selvaperunthagai accumulate the wealth necessary to build a college in London?

NTK Functionary Sattai Duraimurugan Apprehended By Trichy Cyber Crime Police In Courtallam For Allegedly Tarnishing Karunanidhi’s Reputation

The Trichy Cyber Crime police have apprehended Sattai Duraimurugan, a well-known YouTuber and the Policy Outreach Secretary of Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK), in Courtallam. He has been taken into custody for allegedly tarnishing the reputation of former Chief Minister Karunanidhi during the Vikravandi by-election campaign. Additionally, he faces accusations of disparaging the Tamil Nadu government with subpar critiques.

It is to be noted, Sattai Duraimurugan, an NTK functionary, has been arrested for the second time in a row. His previous arrest stemmed from accusations of criticizing Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin. However, the Supreme Court intervened, granting him bail and criticizing the government in the process.

Previously, on 8 April 2024, the Supreme Court reinstated the bail granted to YouTuber Sattai Duraimurugan, who faces allegations related to derogatory comments about Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin. The court sharply noted, “If we start jailing everyone who makes allegations on YouTube before elections, the number of people incarcerated would be considerable.”

The bench, consisting of Justices AS Oka and Ujjal Bhuyan, remarked that expressing dissent and protesting should not be deemed as misuse of liberty.

This decision followed Sattai’s challenge to a Madras High Court ruling that had revoked his bail. The High Court’s decision was based on Sattai allegedly making derogatory statements against the Chief Minister shortly after he had given an undertaking to the court. The Supreme Court overturned the bail revocation, concluding that Sattai’s actions did not constitute misuse of the bail granted to him.

The death of DMK MLA N. Pugazhenthi on 6 April 2024, prompted the need for a by-election. Voting took place at 276 booths, including 44 designated as vulnerable or critical, with a total of 1,355 election workers deployed. To ensure security, 53 micro-observers and over 2,700 police and paramilitary personnel were assigned to oversee the process, with additional staff stationed at the vulnerable booths. Surveillance cameras were also installed to monitor the election. The by-election for the Vikravandi Assembly constituency in Villupuram district saw a voter turnout of 82.48% on 10 July 2024.

“Right To Religious Freedom Does Not Include Right To Convert Others”, Says Allahabad High Court

PFI Allahabad hc prayagraj

The Allahabad High Court has clarified that the right to freedom of religion does not encompass the right to convert others. This observation was made while denying bail to Shriniwas Rav Nayak, who is accused of engaging in religious conversions. Justice Rohit Ranjan Agarwal, in rejecting Nayak’s bail plea, emphasized that while the Indian Constitution allows individuals the right to profess, practice, and propagate their religion, it does not permit converting others.

Justice Agarwal noted, The Constitution confers on each individual the fundamental right to profess, practice, and propagate his religion. However, the individual right to freedom of conscience and religion cannot be extended to construe a collective right to proselytize. The court further stated that the right to religious freedom applies equally to the person converting and the individual being converted.

Nayak, a resident of Andhra Pradesh, was charged under the UP Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Act, 2021, for converting some Hindus to Christianity by promising them relief from pain and a better life. While some villagers adopted Christianity and began praying, the informant, Brijlal, managed to escape and reported the incident to the police.

The prosecution explained that Brijlal had been invited to the house of a co-accused in Uttar Pradesh’s Maharajganj district in February this year. There, he observed many others, mostly from the Scheduled Caste community. The accused allegedly asked Brijlal to abandon Hinduism and convert to Christianity with promises that all his suffering would end, and his life would improve. Brijlal escaped and alerted the authorities, leading to the case’s registration.

After considering arguments from both sides, the High Court highlighted that the 2021 law explicitly prohibits conversion through misrepresentation, force, fraud, undue influence, coercion, and allurement. The court noted that the Act also stipulates penalties for violating its provisions and restricts individuals from abetting, convincing, or conspiring to carry out such conversions.

Additionally, the court remarked that the 2021 Act was enacted in accordance with Article 25 of the Indian Constitution, which does not allow or permit any citizen to convert another citizen from one religion to another. Given the allegations against Nayak, the court observed that the informant had been persuaded to convert to another religion, which was sufficient prima facie evidence to deny bail. This established that a conversion program was ongoing, targeting villagers from the Scheduled Castes community to convert from Hinduism to Christianity.

On 1 July 2024, while hearing arguments for a similar case (Kailash vs State of UP), Justice Rohit Ranjan Agarwal while dismissing the bail plea of the accused also observed that the majority population of India could become a minority if religious gatherings facilitating conversions are not curtailed.

Madurai District Court Adjourns Case Against Part-Time Politician Kamal Haasan’s ‘Indian 2,’ Warns Haasan’s Team Over Absent Legal Representatives

The Madurai District Court has postponed the case seeking to halt the release of the film ‘Indian 2,’ starring part-time politician and full-time actor Kamal Haasan. The court’s decision came after a petition was filed by Aasan Rajendran, a Varma Kalai martial arts instructor, who claimed that his techniques were used in the sequel without his permission.

Aasan Rajendran, the head teacher of Varmakalai, Martial Arts, and Research Academy in Madurai’s HMS Colony, asserted that Kamal Haasan had consulted him for Varmakalai techniques during the making of the original ‘Indian,’ and his contributions were acknowledged. However, he alleges that the sequel, ‘Indian 2,’ employs these techniques without seeking his consent. Consequently, he has requested a ban on the film’s release both in theaters and on OTT platforms.

The court heard the case on 8 July 2024, where the film’s production team requested additional time to respond to Rajendran’s petition. The judge adjourned the hearing to 11 July 2024, giving the ‘Indian 2’ team a final chance to file their response. Notices have been sent to producer Subhaskaran, director Shankar, and actor Kamal Haasan, urging them to present their arguments through their legal representatives.

During the hearing, the court issued a stern warning to the legal representatives of producers Subhaskaran and Kamal Haasan, who failed to appear. The judge emphasized that if they do not attend the next hearing, the court will pass an order based on the arguments presented by Director Shankar’s legal team.

In an interview with India Today, Director Shankar revealed that for ‘Indian 2,’ the team sought expert guidance on Varmakalai techniques from Prakasam Gurukkal of Kerala. Shankar stated, “This time, we needed expert advice, so we brought in Prakasam Gurukkal from Kerala. His guidance has introduced a different Varmam style in the film.”

‘Indian 2,’ the sequel to the 1996 film ‘Indian,’ brings back part-time politician Kamal Haasan as Veerasekaran Senapathy. The film is jointly produced by Lyca Productions and Red Giant Movies and is slated for release on 12 July 2024.

One Dead, Two Injured As New Building Collapses At Cumbum Government Hospital

One person lost their life and two others sustained serious injuries in a tragic incident at Cumbum Government Hospital, where a newly constructed building collapsed. The hospital, located in Kamban Nagar, on the border of Tamil Nadu’s Theni district, serves more than 30 rural areas, including many from Kerala, and is crucial for medical care in the region.

The incident occurred at the site of a new maternity and child health hospital building, which has been under construction at a cost of ₹10 crore for the past two years. Daily, a large number of workers, including Nambirajan, Muneeswaran, and Rathinavel from Madurai’s Oomachikulam area, have been involved in its construction. Tragically, while working on the portico and elevation of the building, a sudden collapse left them trapped inside.

Upon receiving the workers’ distress calls, the Cumbum South Police Station and fire department swiftly responded. After an hour-long effort, Nambirajan was rescued, but unfortunately, Muneeswaran and Rathinavel sustained severe injuries. They were promptly given first aid at Cumbum Government Hospital before being transferred to Theni Government Hospital for further treatment.

The police have initiated an investigation into the incident, registering a case. Colleagues and social activists have expressed deep sorrow and concern over the collapse, citing potential issues with construction materials and calling for a thorough inquiry into the building’s integrity.

Delayed Opening Of Madurai Hospital’s New Tower Block Leaves Marginalized Community In Lurch

Four months after its formal inauguration, the tower block of Government Rajaji Hospital in Madurai remains closed to the public, despite expectations. This delay has left the community deprived and suffering, particularly due to the high costs at private hospitals that many cannot afford.

One such case is a ten-year-old boy from Anuppanadi in Madurai, who has been suffering from an untreated condition for the past four years. Raised by his old grandmother after his mother’s passing and abandonment by his father, the boy urgently needs heart surgery.

The new tower block, inaugurated by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin at a cost of ₹313.25 crore, remains underutilized with 779 medical staff, including doctors, yet to be employed. This delay means thousands in South Tamil Nadu, like the young boy, are unable to access necessary medical care and continue to suffer.

The boy’s grandmother expressed her frustration with the situation at Madurai Government Hospital, where they were unable to perform the surgery due to age restrictions and lack of facilities, pushing them towards expensive private care they cannot afford. She implored the government to intervene and save her grandson.

Health-rights activist Veronica Mary with RTI highlighted that while most of the medical equipment for the new building has been received, critical staffing shortages persist due to unprocessed proposals from the hospital administration to the Directorate of Medical Education.

The hospital administration attributes the delay in opening the tower block fully to ongoing works required by the Public Works Department. Until these are completed, the hospital cannot open its doors to the public, exacerbating the plight of patients in need.

Is Pa Ranjith Guilty Of Being An Oppressor?

The murder of TN BSP leader Armstrong near his residence in Chennai sent shockwaves across the state. Among those who were seen grieving the death included director Pa Ranjith. On 8 July 2024, he made a long post on his X handle which seemed to softly condemn the ruling dispensation.

In his statement, the Kollywood director seemed to imply that this murder was not condemned by other than scheduled caste individuals.

However, Pa. Ranjith subtly queried the DMK, not about the perpetrators behind the murder after 4 days but about the police’s future action plan in his initial statement. In subsequent remarks, he aimed to stifle voices on the internet questioning the government, though paradoxically raised questions about the police’s stance on Arudra’s involvement. Eventually, without directly accusing the DMK due to judicial constraints, he subtly insinuated doubts about the government’s regard for Dalit individuals and leaders. In his final statement, Pa. Ranjith shamefully shifted blame onto ordinary people showing sympathy for the deceased leader, with only DMK supporters defending against accusations that Armstrong was a criminal as propagated allegedly by the media, to deflect from their party’s law enforcement weaknesses.

It is not essentially true that leaders from the Scheduled Caste alone are unsafe in TN. Ever since the DMK came to power, several such instances have taken place. Let us take the date 24 June 2024 for example.

Incidents From June 2024

A 26-year-old youth named Lakshmanan was hacked to death near Minjur by gangsters over frivolous disagreements that occurred at a TASMAC bar while consuming alcohol. This is a common scene at TASMAc outlets across the city and state.

On the same day, in Tambaram, a youth named Surya was arrested because he snatched a mobile phone from another youth named Santosh. Santosh along with his friend Vignesh somehow retrieved the phone but later when Vignesh was found all by himself, Surya, intoxicated by TASMAC alcohol, hacked Vignesh to death.

One more incident at Maduravoyal on the same day – 65-year-old Aasaimani was arrested for killing his son. The reason for this was later revealed to be the fact that Aasaimani’s 35-year-old son would wreak havoc at home after getting drunk at a TASMAC shop and was always consuming ganja and causing trouble every single day. Unable to stand the daily torture caused by the son to the family, the father killed him.

Incidents From May 2024

In Walajabad on 28 May 2024, a lady Suguna was found dead after the thief stole her gold chain and hacked her to death.

On the same day, in Kundrathur, a youth named Rajesh was hacked to death for preventing a thief from snatching his phone.

On this day itself, near Tambaram, an auto driver named Karthik was killed by individuals who were intoxicated. Once again, TASMAC comes into the picture – the auto union leader, a DMK cadre, and his supporters hacked Karthik to death over some disagreement.

Again, on the same day, a person named Thomas was killed over non-payment of loan.

These instances show that there is no parity when it comes to hacking and killing in Tamil Nadu and what Pa Ranjith claimed (that Dalit leaders were unsafe) was untrue.

However, Pa Ranjith never condemned these incidents nor any other incidents that affected Dalit lives. His soft namesake criticism of the DMK over the law-and-order situation in the state is glaringly silly.

It is a fact that Armstrong had the support of a large section of the Dalits in the North Chennai region, and this was seemingly a problem for the DMK. However, Pa Ranjith did not question this aspect.

Interestingly, Armstrong was against the DMK and understood that a person from the Scheduled Caste would not get recognition if they joined the DMK. However, for all the grief that Pa Ranjith displayed, he did not question this.

Be it Vengaivayal or Nanguneri or any other caste-based incidents in Tamil Nadu, Pa Ranjith never raised a finger at the DMK – he would either not write about it at all or would softly criticize the DMK as lip service. Alternately, he would blame the Hindu religion for anything remotely related to caste.

His selective outrage and directed criticism towards the DMK following the brutal murder of Armstrong exposes his casteist mentality. Only when tragedy knocks someone known to him or from his community, Pa Ranjith’s blood boils. Just because Pa Ranjith hails from the Dalit community, it doesn’t make him a saint or a voice of the oppressed. Pa. Ranjith’s selective outrage by voicing out for certain crimes while turning a blind eye to other crimes that happen under DMK’s watch makes him at the very least a silent oppressor and an enabler.

Dravidian Model: Private Medical Colleges In Tamil Nadu Start ‘Booking’ Seats Amidst Uncertainty Over NEET Results This Year

Many private medical colleges in Tamil Nadu have begun their admission process for undergraduate programs amidst the NEET-UG 2024 fiasco, where irregularities such as paper leaks have surfaced, leading to the possibility of a re-test.

Some colleges are discreetly proceeding by ‘booking’ seats for money, while others are openly advertising their ongoing admissions.

They have started reserving seats for an advance payment ranging from ₹2 to ₹3 lakh. This practice has come to after many parents encountered such situations when going to the college for seeking admission details.

One of the student counsellor was quoted saying in a Times of India report that parents are instructed to meet with authorities on campus and are required to leave their mobile phones and electronic devices behind so that the clandestine transactions are not recorded.

Once the initial discussions are over, the candidates/parents are asked to pay ₹3 lakh to book a seat. Once this is paid, they are advised to choose the college affiliated with the deemed university as their first choice during the counselling round. If they obtain the seat, they will receive an annual discount of up to ₹3 to ₹5 lakh, with the advance payment being credited towards the first year’s fees. Additionally, students are provided with a scholarship certificate to further lower the fee, as per Times of India report.

Apparently, one university oversees more than 600 medical seats in its affiliated colleges and anticipates acquiring additional seats this year. They’ve expressed confidence to parents who have paid that a seat would be secured. Additionally, they promised a refund if they could be prove to the authorities that an allotment was not received despite selecting the colleges under the university as the primary choice.

In another college, after paying an advance of ₹3 lakh to ₹5 lakh, students submit their documents to the admission authorities, who then apply on their behalf during counselling. Admission managers have reportedly “guaranteed” seats to these candidates.

Parents are told to pay the fees in the first round itself, as cut-offs tend to rise in subsequent rounds for deemed universities.

Officials have condemned these activities as illegal. “Allotments to medical colleges are managed either by the Medical Counselling Committee of the Directorate General of Health Services or the state’s selection committee. They cannot collect any fee or donation in advance,” a senior official from the National Medical Commission was quoted saying.

Any allotments not approved by these agencies will be considered illegal. “We advise parents and students to be patient and not engage in these practices,” officials warned adding that the commission will take action if there are complaints with evidence.

It must be noted that several private medical colleges in Tamil Nadu are run by the members of DMK and AIADMK, both of whom are opposed to NEET as the exam has curbed the menace of capitation fee.

“Selvaperunthagai Was Indeed A History-Sheeter, I Won’t Retract My Statement Or Apologize,” Says TN BJP Chief Annamalai

Tamil Nadu Bharatiya Janata Party President Annamalai, at a meeting with the press a few days ago, had accused Tamil Nadu Congress Committee President K Selvaperunthagai of being a history-sheeter. He clarified his statement accusing providing detailed explanations and citing past cases. The exchange between Selvaperunthagai and Annamalai escalated on 9 July 2024, through press conferences and social media posts after Annamalai’s initial remark.

TNCC President K Selvaperunthagai insisted that BJP State President K Annamalai apologize to him for labeling him a history-sheeter. He warned that failing to do so would prompt him to pursue legal action against Annamalai for defamation and character assassination, possibly invoking sections of the SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act. Speaking to reporters in Chennai, Selvaperunthagai recounted how Annamalai had referred to him as a rowdy and a history-sheeter during a visit to the late BSP state president K Amstrong’s residence on 8 July 2024.

In his rebuttal, Selvaperunthagai held a press meeting at his party headquarters, highlighting that since Annamalai assumed leadership, 261 individuals with involvement in 1,977 cases had reportedly joined the BJP, some even holding positions within the party. He specifically mentioned BJP functionary RK Suresh, who had been questioned by the Economic Offence Wing over the Aarudhra Gold scam, along with another functionary named Harish allegedly linked to the same scandal. Selvaperunthagai vehemently denied any association with criminal activities.

In response, Annamalai stood firm, stating he would face the issue in court rather than apologize. He asserted that the BJP does not include any members with a criminal background. Annamalai stated unequivocally that he would not retract his assertion that Selvaperunthagai was listed as a history-sheeter. He expressed his unwillingness to apologize for something he believed to be true, citing cases filed against Selvaperunthagai, including his involvement in the auditor Pandian murder case. Annamalai also questioned whether Selvaperunthagai denied being arrested under the Goondas Act, and challenged the notion that his past legal troubles could be disregarded simply because he claimed to follow Gandhian principles.

Later that day, on 9 July 2024, responding to media reports about Selvaperunthagai’s threat, Annamalai countered by listing a series of criminal cases from Selvaperunthagai’s past, reaffirming his decision not to apologize.

Annamalai in his official X account stated,When I mentioned that Tamil Nadu Congress Committee President Selvaperunthagai was on the list of criminals, Selvaperunthagai said he was very upset since I have insulted him who came in the path of Mahatma Gandhi. Below is the path taken by the one who claims to be a Mahatma Gandhi follower.

Notably, there were three cases of criminal intimidation (death threats) were filed against him. Apart from this, the Auditor Pandian murder case.”

“Is he not saying that he was arrested under the Goondas Act? How else does he expect him to be referred to? A living Mahatma? For political gains and to escape from the criminal cases against him, if he joins the party opposite to his policy and dramatizes that he came the way of Gandhi, does it mean that the crimes committed are not there?” Annamalai questioned.

“I am not going to back down from the view that Selvaperunthagai was on the criminal list. I do not have the habit of apologizing for a mistake I did not commit. Let Selvaperunthagai sue me anywhere. I am ready to meet him in court.” Annamalai stated.

Over 1,000 Muslims Protest Waqf Board Ban On Property Registration In Perambalur

Over 1,000 Muslims from various villages in the Perambalur district, including Valikandapuram, Mettupalayam South, Thavayur, Ranjankudi, V. Kalathur, and Visuvakudi, gathered at the Perambalur Collector’s office yesterday. They demanded the lifting of the Waqf Board’s ban, which has prevented them from registering their properties since 18 February 2020.

The affected residents presented their petitions, highlighting the severe impact of the ban on their basic property rights. “More than 1,000 Muslims are prohibited from registering deeds claiming that they are Waqf Board properties. Due to this, we cannot deed the properties we own, affecting our ability to sell, mortgage, or obtain bank loans,” a resident said to Dinamalar.

Residents have made multiple complaints to the government, but no action has been taken. They are now calling for the immediate removal of the Waqf Board’s objections. They also warned that if appropriate orders were not passed, they would engage in a massive protest.

Valikandapuram resident Ameer Khan stated that 400 Muslim families in Valikandapuram, Vallapuram, and Tambai village are affected. “We have given a petition to the Chief Minister, but no action has been taken so far. The concerned departmental officials are harassing our community.”

Khan pointed out that a similar issue in five villages in Trichy district was resolved after intervention by BJP member H. Raja and Minister Nehru.

Mettupalayam resident Chellamuthu highlighted the plight of 85 people who own 45 acres of land. “These lands, enjoyed by our families for generations, cannot be sold, mortgaged, or transferred to our heirs due to the Waqf Board’s ban. Despite years of complaints to high officials, no action has been taken.”

Ranjankudi resident Ameer Pasha shared his personal experience, stating, “My father bought 8 acres of land 25 years ago, which we have enjoyed until now. We applied to change the title to four people, but the application was rejected due to the Waqf Board’s block.”

The protesters urged Chief Minister M.K. Stalin to intervene and resolve the issue. The community members stressed that their basic property rights were at stake and demanded immediate government action to lift the ban imposed by the Waqf Board.
