DMK IT Wing Functionary Wishes For PM Modi’s Death Similar To Iranian President, Deletes Post And Apologizes Fearing Legal Action, Deletes That Post As Well

A senior member of the DMK IT Wing, Kasi Kuppusamy, has found himself at the center of a storm after a controversial social media post suggesting that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should meet the same fate as the late Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi. The post, which was quickly deleted, sparked widespread condemnation from the public and BJP supporters.

Kasi Kuppusamy, who serves as the Deputy Secretary of the DMK’s Coimbatore East IT Wing, made the comment in response to a post by Selva Kumar, Vice-President of the Tamil Nadu BJP Industrial Cell, regarding the tragic death of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi. Raisi, along with several top officials, died in a helicopter crash at the Iran-Azerbaijan border on May 20th. Prime Minister Modi expressed his condolences, and the Indian government observed a state mourning on May 21st.

Kasi Kuppusamy’s remark, “wish the Indian Prime Minister face same fate like as what has happened to Iranian President,” quickly went viral, leading to an outpouring of anger.

BJP supporters and the general public demanded severe action against Kasi Kuppusamy for his comment. His comment led to BJP supporters call for legal action similar to a recent incident involving a social media post against the Congress government in Karnataka.

The backlash prompted DMK supporter Dravida Podhuudamai to advise Kasi Kuppusamy to delete the post, “Modi is only our ideological enemy but not our genealogical enemy. Please delete it” posted Dravida Podhuudamai emphasizing that ideological opposition does not justify such remarks.

Following this advice, Kasi Kuppusamy deleted the post and issued an apology, stating, “I express my repentance if the post on Prime Minister hurt anyone’s feelings. I only motioned about the post of Prime Minister, not the individual.”

But he has now deleted this post.

It wasn’t just Kasi Kuppusamy; several DMK and I.N.D.I.A. alliance supporters also expressed similar sentiments towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi in their replies to BJP functionary Selva Kumar’s post.

For instance, DMK supporter Malik Murali Krishnan Ninniyapan remarked, “Similar thing is not happening here. A dog (Prime Minister Modi) is traveling on different flights daily.”

Another supporter, Usilampatti Ra Ko, posted, “If this is the fate of good people (Iranian President), then imagine the fate of our Ji (Prime Minister Modi). Only Allah can save him.”

Additionally, Saravanan, a DMK supporter, commented, “Good people are getting killed, but there is one fellow (Prime Minister Narendra Modi) who is traveling around in private planes and helicopters. Nothing is happening to that fellow.”

Although Kasi Kuppusamy deleted his post and apologized, BJP supporters demanded strict action against him for his remarks about the Prime Minister. They argued that the DMK government would not act against Kasi Kuppusamy, urging Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, or Gujarat police to step in and arrest him, similar to how Karnataka police arrested Bhiku Mhatre for his social media post against the Congress government.

BJP supporters claimed that while DMK authorities aggressively target BJP supporters for their social media posts criticizing the DMK, the Chief Minister, his family, and minorities, they show little interest in taking action against their own members with the same fervor. They believe DMK only acts on complaints from its IT wing functionaries and not against them, reflecting a biased approach.

BJP State President Annamalai Calls For Immediate Implementation Of Free Bus Travel Policy For Policemen As Announced By DMK In 2021-22

The BJP state president K Annamalai expressed surprise that Chief Minister Stalin’s announcement about free bus travel for policemen within their working district has not been relayed to the transport corporations, even after three years.

The incident involved a policeman who boarded a government bus heading to Thoothukudi via Tirunelveli at the Nanguneri court. When the conductor asked the constable for a ticket, the policeman argued that, as a government employee, he was entitled to free travel, a sentiment echoed by other government employees on board.

The conductor insisted that policemen need a warrant to travel for free; otherwise, they must buy a ticket. The policeman refused and an argument ensued, with the exchange being captured on video and spreading widely on social media.

In response, the transport department issued a statement clarifying that policemen cannot travel on government buses without paying unless they have a warrant. They reiterated that policemen must purchase tickets if they don’t have a warrant and recommended departmental action against the Nanguneri policeman involved.

https://twitter.com/arasubus/status/1793182918908793191

Condemning the transport department’s action, Annamalai criticized the lack of communication regarding the free travel policy, noting that it has been three years since the Chief Minister’s announcement.

In this regard,  Annamalai in his official X handle stated that, In the grant request for the year 2021-2022, when Chief Minister Stalin himself has announced free travel in buses within the working district, how is it justified to harass policeman Arumuga pandi like this?”

“It is surprising that even after three years the notification of the Chief Minister’s demand for grants has not been communicated to the transport corporations. I would like to advise to inform all the District Transport Corporations immediately about this announcement and immediately implement the announcement of free bus travel for policemen in the working districts across Tamil Nadu, and I insist that no action including departmental action should be taken against Policeman Arumugapandi.”

“I Do Not Accept the Order”: TMC Supremo Mamata Banerjee Rejects Calcutta High Court’s Annulment Of OBC Certificates Given To 37 Communities During Her Period

Responding to a public interest litigation petition, the Calcutta High Court on 22 May 2024 delivered a significant setback to West Bengal’s Trinamool Congress (TMC) government by annulling around 500,000 Other Backward Classes (OBC) certificates issued under a 2012 Act.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee strongly opposed the ruling, declaring that OBC reservations would persist in the state. Banerjee speaking at election rally at Dumdum Lok Sabha constituency stated, “They got an order passed today but I don’t accept it. When 26,000 people lost their jobs because of the BJP, I had said that I would not accept it. Similarly, I am saying today, I do not accept the order. We won’t accept the BJP’s order. OBC reservation will continue. Imagine their audacity. This is a kalankit chapter in the country”

The PM has been talking about how minorities will snatch away Tapashili reservation. How can this ever happen? It would lead to constitutional breakdown. Minorities can never touch the Tapashili or Adivasi reservation. But these mischievous people get their work done through agencies,” she said.

This was passed by the Assembly, and there is a court verdict on the same. They are playing games ahead of elections with these things… Can the PM ever say that minorities will seize Tapashili reservation? He cannot. This is a constitutional guarantee. They are doing this just for votes.”, she further added.

Criticizing High Court judges, the TMC Supremo remarked, “One judge claims to be an RSS member, while another has joined the BJP… How can such individuals serve as judges and oversee court proceedings?

Additionally, senior party leader and Ms. Banerjee’s nephew, Abhishek Banerjee, accused the court’s ruling of being part of the BJP’s agenda to revoke reservations for the Tapashili community.

A division bench comprising Justices Tapabrata Chakraborty and Rajasekhar Mantha clarified that their order would not impact individuals who are currently employed, have successfully passed any state government selection processes, or have used the OBC certificates for reservation purposes.

The court invalidated the OBC certificates issued under the West Bengal Backward Classes (Other than Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes) (Reservation of Vacancies in Services and Posts) Act, declaring them illegal. The bench emphasized that the opinions and advice of the Backward Classes Commission are generally binding on the state legislature as per the National Commission for Backward Classes Act 1993. They instructed the state’s Backward Classes Welfare Department to consult with the commission and submit a report to the legislature, recommending the addition of new classes or the removal of existing classes from the state OBC list.

In 2023, the National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC), a constitutional body, identified irregularities in the execution of reservation policies across four states during field surveys conducted from February to May. In West Bengal, the commission discovered that Rohingya and Bangladeshi immigrants had been issued OBC certificates. Additionally, in February, the NCBC noted that out of the 179 castes listed as OBCs in the state, 118 were from the Muslim community.

Netizens shared an unverified list of names that were reportedly recognized by the West Bengal government as OBCs, with the majority of the names being Muslim.

Interim Bail Granted To BJP Supporting X User MumbaichaDon

Social media activist Vinit Naik, known by the moniker Bhiku Mhatre (@MumbaichaDon), has been granted interim bail after his controversial arrest by the Karnataka police. Naik’s detention sparked widespread outrage, with many accusing the Congress-led Karnataka government of attempting to suppress free speech.

The Karnataka government has faced criticism for detaining Bhiku Mhatre for allegedly commenting on the Congress manifesto. His arrest took place in Goa based on complaint lodged by J Saravanan from Srirampura led to an FIR against Bhiku Mhatrefor his tweet in the social media. The complaint alleged that the user’s post aimed to stoke communal tensions by fostering animosity between Hindus and Muslims.

Based on the complaint Bhiku Mhatre was apprehended in the South Goan city of Ponda and charged under the IT Act and section 153A of the Indian Penal Code, which pertains to promoting disharmony between different religious or racial groups. Prior to his arrest, he shared a screenshot of a legal notice from X’s legal team informing him of a court order from the Bengaluru City Magistrate regarding his account. He denied making any inflammatory or communal remarks, instead accusing the Congress of attempting to silence him for speaking the truth.

In this regard, the Honourable 45th Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) Court of Bengaluru City has granted interim bail to Bhiku Mhatre in relation to Crime Number 017/2024, registered at the Cyber Crime Police Station in Bengaluru City on 21 May 2024.

It is to be noted, Bhiku Mhatre was arrested on 19 May 2024, just a day before the Lok Sabha elections. This arrest has been criticized as a vindictive move by the Congress Party, suggesting a pattern of suppressing dissent. Historical parallels have been drawn, notably to 1975 when then-Prime Minister Indira Gandhi imposed an emergency, silencing media and dissenting voices, highlighting a recurrent theme in the party’s approach to handling opposition.

NGO Arappor Iyakkam Demands DMK Govt To Withdraw Case Slapped Against Cargo Driver Who Demanded Explanation From Traffic Cop For Fining Him Allegedly Without Reason

Recently, a video had gone viral on social media in which a rental goods carrier driver can be seen arguing over a ₹500 fine levied by traffic police in Chennai’s Kolathur region, despite having all necessary paperwork. The driver, at the Senthil Nagar signal, challenged the police’s decision, emphasizing his possession of a valid license.

The conflict initiated when traffic police halted a small cargo vehicle transporting school textbooks and sought to impose a ₹500 fine. Senthamizhan, the cargo vehicle driver, grew increasingly frustrated, questioning the rationale behind the fine and even contesting the officer’s authority due to the lack of a name badge on the uniform. Despite presenting his driving license and other essential paperwork, Senthamizhan felt unfairly singled out by the police. He vehemently protested, insisting that his vehicle was within the permissible weight limit and demanding clarification regarding the alleged infringement. Expressing his exasperation, he sarcastically remarked on the ease with which the police seemed to acquire money, citing his educational qualifications as a defense against what he perceived as unjust treatment.

Following this, the driver was charged under sections 294(b) (uttering obscene words), 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of duty), and 506(i) (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Arappor Iyakkam, a city-based NGO that acts as a watchdog on corruption and civic issues has issued a statement with a strong condemnation stating that Tamil Nadu has always been a police state.

The Tamil Nadu police have no hesitation in cracking down on those who question police officers fairly. The DMK and AIADMK governments have worked tirelessly with each other to use this police force to suppress their opponents.“, the organization said.

In their tweet, Arappor Iyakkam demanded action from the highest levels of state leadership. “Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and Tamil Nadu Police Minister MK Stalin should order the cancellation of the false case filed against the driver. The anarchic attitude of the Tamil Nadu Police should be stopped. The Chennai Police Commissioner should explain the false complaint of the traffic police and this false case. Action should be taken against the traffic cop who has now filed a false complaint against the erring driver by imposing a fine of ₹500 on him.

Delhi HC Reduces Life Sentences To 10 Years For 5 JeM Terrorists Citing Dostoyevsky’s “Crime And Punishment”

Quoting Russian author Fyodor Dostoyevsky’s “Crime and Punishment,” the Delhi High Court on 20 May 2024 reduced the sentences of five members of the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terror group. The court shortened their life imprisonment sentences to ten years for their offenses under Section 121A of the Indian Penal Code.

The division bench, comprising Justice Suresh Kumar Kait and Justice Manoj Jain, ruled on the appeals of Bilal Ahmad Mir, Sajjad Ahmad Khan, Muzaffar Ahmad Bhat, Mehraj-ud-Din Chopan, and Ishfaq Ahmad Bhatt, who were initially sentenced to life imprisonment by the trial court.

The court also lessened the punishment from life imprisonment to ten years of rigorous imprisonment for their violation of Section 23 of the UAPA. Citing Dostoyevsky, the court noted, “If he has a conscience, he will suffer for his mistake; that will be punishment – as well as the prison.” In 2022, the trial court convicted the five for various charges under the IPC and UAPA, and they pleaded guilty, receiving their sentences on 28 November 2022. The NIA had described them as highly radicalized Over Ground Workers of Jaish-e-Mohammed involved in several terrorist activities in India.

The bench acknowledged the seriousness of the allegations but emphasized there was no proof of them committing any terrorist acts, stating they were mainly found guilty of conspiracy rather than actual terrorist acts. The court stressed the importance of balancing justice and the possibility of reform, noting there was no indication the convicts were irredeemable.

The bench criticized the lack of sentencing guidelines that could aid in determining appropriate sentences, highlighting the inconsistency in sentencing due to the unique circumstances of each case. The court recognized that while the convicts did not deserve excessive leniency, their immediate confession, relatively clean records, willingness to rehabilitate, and young age warranted a reduced sentence. It also pointed out that the trial court had been overly influenced by the severity of the allegations without considering the convicts’ remorse and early guilty pleas.

The court concluded stating, “Given their youth and lack of prior convictions, the trial court should have focused on their rehabilitation, as noted in the judgment, but not fully realized. Thus, the sentences under Section 121A IPC and Section 23 UAPA are reduced.

NIA Apprehends Andhra Pradesh Techie For Alleged Connection To Rameshwaram Cafe Blast Suspect

NIA Arrests One Person From Purasaiwakkam, Chennai During Raids Linked To ISIS Recruitment Network puducherry

On 21 May 2024, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested a software engineer from Andhra Pradesh’s Anantapur district due to alleged connections with a suspect in the Rameshwaram Cafe blast case.

Early in the morning, NIA officers raided the home of retired headmaster Abdul Gaffoor in the Nagulabavi area of Atmakur Street, Rayadurgam town. Acting on specific information about a terror suspect linked to the 1st March blast at Rameshwaram Cafe, the officers searched the premises.

The NIA conducted the raid after a three-day surveillance in the area. They took Gaffoor’s son, Sohail, into custody for questioning,” said an Anantapur police official, noting that local police provided logistical support to the NIA during the operation.

Sohail, in his early thirties, works for a software company in Bengaluru alongside his elder brother. NIA investigators found that Sohail had allegedly received a significant amount of money in his bank account, leading them to suspect his involvement in the Rameshwaram Cafe blast, which injured 10 people.

Sources indicate that Suhail had been living in a PG accommodation shared with one of the suspects in the Rameshwaram Cafe blast case. Following the blast, Suhail began working from home and was staying in Rayadurgam. It is reported that Suhail and the blast suspect communicated via WhatsApp after the incident. After his arrest, Sohail was taken to Rayadurgam police station under tight security. Following initial questioning, he was transferred to Bengaluru. The NIA authorities formally notified Gaffoor and his family about Sohail’s arrest in writing, the police official added.

Previously, on 12 April 2024, the NIA had arrested two suspects, Mussavir Hussain Shazib and Abdul Matheen Ahmed Taahaa, from West Bengal.

Hindu Munnani Joins Boycott Call Against Naturals Salons Following CK Kumaravel’s Abusive Comments On Veer Savarkar

Hindu Munnani has joined the growing call to boycott Naturals salons after CEO and Co-founder CK Kumaravel made controversial remarks about nationalist freedom fighter Veer Savarkar. Kumaravel, a former executive of Makkal Needhi Maiam and a current supporter of the Congress party, is accused of spreading harmful and unfounded claims against Savarkar, leading to widespread outrage.

The controversy began when Prime Minister Narendra Modi challenged leaders of the I.N.D.I alliance at a rally in Kalyan, Maharashtra, to articulate five sentences praising Veer Savarkar. The PTI news agency reported on this event, prompting Kumaravel to respond with contentious statements.

Kumaravel’s posts included: “1. #VeerSavarkar is a coward 2. He is a co-conspirator in Gandhi’s assassination 3. He is an expert in writing #MercyPetitions 4. He brainwashed the mentally ill #Godse in killing #Gandhi 5. There is nothing veer in him except his name 6. A #Hindutva Maniac #RSS – #BJP mafia.”

These remarks sparked immediate backlash, with many taking to social media to express their anger. The hashtag #BoycottNaturals quickly gained traction on the platform X (formerly Twitter).

Supporting the boycott, the Hindu Munnani organization tweeted: “Condemning the anti-national saloon owner for defaming freedom fighter Veer Savarkar, let us all boycott Naturals saloon shops.”

TN BJP Annamalai Gives A Befitting Reply To MK Stalin’s False Claim About PM Modi’s Speech In Odisha

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing a rally in Angul, Odisha, raised concerns over the missing keys of the Ratna Bhandar, the treasure house of the Puri Jagannath Temple. The keys have reportedly been missing for six years, an issue that Modi emphasized in his speech, suggesting it symbolizes a larger issue of transparency and governance in the state.

When keys of our own houses are not found, we pray to Lord Jagannath and seek his blessings to find the keys… But keys of the Ratna Bhandar have been missing for six years,” Modi remarked.

All of Odisha wants to know about the findings of the inquiry committee report on the missing keys of the Ratna Bhandar, but the BJD has suppressed it. BJD’s silence is further deepening people’s doubt on the issue,” he added.

Later, at a rally in Cuttack, Modi hinted at rumors about the key’s whereabouts. “People say that the key of Shri Ratna Bhandar has gone to Tamil Nadu. Who sent it to Tamil Nadu?” he questioned, an apparent indirect reference to V. K. Pandian, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s close aide, who hails from Tamil Nadu.

The remarks have ignited a political firestorm. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin reacted sharply to Modi’s comments, accusing him of maligning Tamilians. MK Stalin tweeted, “After the elections in Tamil Nadu, PM Modi dismantled his role as a ‘Tamilian’. He has falsely accused Tamils like thieves stealing the property of Puri Jagannath temple in Odisha. Is it beautiful for a Prime Minister to abuse Tamils in the North with malice and incite enmity between states? The Hon’ble Prime Minister should stop behaving so lowly day by day, forgetting the dignity of his responsibility for the sake of votes!

In response, Tamil Nadu BJP President K. Annamalai released a video statement defending Modi and criticizing Stalin. Annamalai stated, “The CM of Tamil Nadu Thiru MK Stalin’s full time job is to lie, if you see the amount of lies he had peddled after becoming the CM, if you list them out you cannot fill them in pages, another lie he spread today was about the speech of PM Modi in Odisha regarding Tamil people. the CM doesn’t read things properly, somebody wrote notes for him, and he asked somebody to post it on twitter. This video in particular is for MK Stalin so that he should know the truth, only then his advisors will get to know the truth to post it on Twitter. CM MK Stalin must understand something the basis of politics is that the PM of India must be someone who belongs and is born in India. The CM of TN should be a Tamilian. He/she must be from TN and must know the culture, traditions and civilizational values of the people.

He further added “This applies to Karnataka and Telangana as well. The issue in Odisha today is that the BJD has overturned the concept of son of the soil, Naveen Patnaik is ruling the state for 25 years . VK Pandian, a Tamilian has been his private secretary for 12 years. He belongs to the Punjab IAS cadre. He married a woman from Odisha and shifted to the Odisha cadre. He was the private secretary of Naveen Patnaik. After which he resigned his job to become BJD’s campaign strategist. People following Odisha politics know that nobody can meet Naveen Patnaik, be it Chief secretary or the DGP. It has to be VK Pandian. Even if it is a minister VK Pandian is the one who approves. Naveen Patnaik’s public speeches also are prepared by VK Pandian. Should a person not related to Odisha decide the politics of Odisha? Will MK Stalin call a non Tamilian IAS officer who joins DMK as the face of DMK? But Naveen Patnaik has endorsed this, isn’t it wrong?

He further went on to say “Tamils are respected everywhere. Tamils must reach heights everywhere but we must understand the political dynamics of the respective states. PM Modi commented that the key to the treasury of the Puri Jagannath temple is lost and someone has deliberately hidden it. VK Pandian has been the secretary to the CM for 12 years. So now, where did the key go? A committee has also been formed. We have promised that if BJP comes to power in Odisha the key will be retrived and Lord Jagannath’s respect will be restored. Who has the control over the key? Technically the CM of Odisha is VK Pandian. Where the key has gone? To whom has the key has been given? MK Stalin must understand. He must know what is happening in India beyond the four walls of his room. Will DMK announce a person who will join the DMK from another state as the CM candidate of TN? Here we talk about the son of the soil, the same applies to Odisha people as well. In TN we talk about son of the soil. Does it not apply to Odisha? How can this be wrong if PM Modi addresses this issue in Odisha?

Adding further he said “The person who controls it from some other state . BJD is promoting an outsider without respecting the people of Odisha and its culture. what is wrong when the PM says that we will make a person of Odisha the CM? MK Stalin must talk after understanding things, PM Modi has immense respect and love for the people of TN. That doesn’t mean that Tamils must be made the CMs of all sates of India. You and I will be happy if a Tamilian becomes the PM of India someday. It is not mandatory that a PM must belong to a particular state. however, in state politics when priority is given to people belonging to the respective states. How could Naveen Patnaik allow such a thing in Odisha? This is the political issue today in Odisha. CM Stalin must stop spreading lies. We know you have no political avenue outside Gummudipoondi. Your allegation against PM Modi is highly condemnable. It is not an attribute of healthy politics. It is our duty to bust the lies of MK Stalin to the people of TN through this post.

Annamalai tweeted, “It is unfortunate that TN CM Thiru MK Stalin, who lives in a silo surrounded by cheerleaders keeping him distant from happenings inside TN & beyond, talks about matters without understanding the context of what was spoken by our Hon PM Thiru Narendra Modi during his campaign in Odisha. We wish Thiru CM MK Stalin be reminded that dividing people in the name of region, religion, language & caste has been his party’s domain expertise that we are determined to stay away from.”

AIADMK’S Sellur Raju Admires Rahul Gandhi

On 21 May 2024, former AIADMK Minister Sellur Raju, stirred controversy by sharing a video of Congress scion Rahul Gandhi on the social media platform X. He commented that he was deeply moved by watching the young leader. However, as the post sparked widespread discussion, Raju, downplayed the situation by stating that he shared the video simply because he appreciated Gandhi’s “simplicity.”

The 90-second video clip showed the Congress MP sitting in a crowded restaurant and interacting with people around, including children and youth and taking selfies with them.

https://twitter.com/SellurKRajuoffl/status/1792806802507375087

The Hindu reported that Raju said, “See, how he freely mingles with people in the hotel, whereas even ward secretaries of political parties in Tamil Nadu want to show off by cordoning off seats in public places,” Stating that Gandhi was not just a politician, but the son of a former Prime Minister, the AIADMK leader said he was still so simple and “his simplicity should be emulated by all politicians in Tamil Nadu.”

Political leaders abroad followed a very simple life, he said adding that public life behaviour of politicians in Tamil Nadu had changed in the last few years.  Stating that he had followed simplicity from his party leader, M.G. Ramachandran, Raju said even the party general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami led a simple life. “Only Amma (Jayalalithaa) being a woman leader wanted to be different,” he added.

When asked about the timing of his post praising the leader from another party, Raju said he was a student of the ideologies of EV Ramasamy, CN Annadurai and MGR. There was nothing political to read between the lines, he added.
