Two Gandhis Won With Strong Backing Of Communal Muslim Alliance: Says CPI(M) Leader Vijayaraghavan

On 21 December 2024, A. Vijayaraghavan, a CPI(M) Kerala Politburo member, accused the victory of Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi in the Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency of being secured with the support of a “communal Muslim alliance.”

Speaking at the CPI(M) Wayanad district conference in Sulthan Bathery, Vijayaraghavan claimed, “Two individuals from Wayanad—Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi—won with the strong backing of the communal Muslim alliance. Without their support, could Rahul Gandhi have reached Delhi as the Opposition leader? Who were leading the processions supporting Priyanka Gandhi? The most extreme elements among the minorities were there, aligning themselves with the Congress leadership. It is clear that without the support of the communal Muslim alliance, Rahul Gandhi’s victory would not have been possible.”

Vijayaraghavan’s remarks echo a recurring strategy by CPI(M) to link the Congress with Muslim political organizations, a line of attack the party has employed since the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. During this year’s elections in April, CPI(M) attempted to consolidate the Muslim vote in Kerala by emphasizing issues like the Citizenship Amendment Act and Palestine, though the results saw a significant loss of support from Hindu voters towards the CPI(M)-led Left Democratic Front (LDF).

The party has since worked to regain the trust of Hindu voters, a shift that became evident in recent by-elections for assembly seats in Palakkad and Chelakkara, as well as the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat. In these contests, CPI(M) targeted Muslim political groups, with Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan accusing Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) state president Sadiq Ali Shihab Thangal of having ties to Jamaat-e-Islami, a hardline Islamic group. Vijayan argued that Jamaat-e-Islami’s influence within IUML threatened Kerala’s democratic system and posed a danger to the state’s secular fabric. The IUML is part of the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) in Kerala and a constituent of the national INDIA alliance.

Ahead of the Wayanad Lok Sabha by-election, Vijayan had also sought to link Jamaat-e-Islami with Congress, claiming that Priyanka Gandhi’s candidacy was backed by the group, which he described as being “against a democratic system.”

Among the most inflammatory comments was his mockery of Hindu prayers, deriding them as “Suklam Baradharam this and that,” which was a visible attemt to trivialize Hindu traditions while advocating for Christianity.

The 2026 Tamil Nadu state assembly elections are still more than a year away, but the Dravidian parties are already competing to secure the minority vote. The DMK scion and Deputy CM Udhayanidhi Stalin, who has not shied away from appealing to the Christian community, made headlines recently as he publicly declared, “I’m a Christian,” as the Christmas season approached. This move appears to have set a trend, with the AIADMK now following suit.

In a controversial turn of events, during an AIADMK meeting on 22 December 2024, to celebrate the upcoming Christmas season, a pastor was invited to participate and deliver a sermon. The meeting, organized by former AIADMK minister P Benjamin and Thiruvallur West District Secretary PV Ramana, quickly took an unexpected turn. While addressing the gathering, the pastor went beyond simply preaching Christian values and began advocating for Christian votes in favor of AIADMK.

What raised eyebrows was not just the sermon but the pastor’s remarks that seemed to disparage Hinduism, suggesting it was a religion marked by discrimination while presenting Christianity as the antidote. This attempt at “conversion peddling” in a political context has sparked controversy, significantly as AIADMK has distanced itself from the BJP and is trying to broaden its appeal among minority communities.

During the AIADMK meeting, the pastor made several controversial remarks while delivering his sermon, which sparked considerable debate. He began by addressing the idea of religious identity, saying, “Raja is shouting ‘Hindu, Hindu…’ but he was named by a Christian.” He then continued, “First, there was Adam and Eve, that is Christianity, from there Islam, and then Hinduism. All of us are children of one mother! If we understood this, there will be no religious or caste-based violence in India.”

The pastor, continuing his narrative, criticized Hinduism based on the caste system and subtly advocated for embracing Christianity, indirectly hinting at conversion. He said, “In America, we can’t ask, ‘Naidu, how are you?’ In New Zealand, we can’t ask, ‘Mudhaliyar, how are you?’ There, it’s just black and white. But only in India do we see so much difference based on the Varna system.”

He then focused on praising Christianity, saying, “For all this, a God came to Earth to show love, and His name is Jesus Christ. He is Jesus Christ. And what does Jesus Christ say? He says, ‘Whoever comes to me, I will never cast out.’ He won’t cast you out. But if you go elsewhere, he will push you, and you will have to stand there. He will say, ‘Suklam baradharam this and that’ and you should go out. But here, you are welcome. Come till the last, come to the altar, come to the cross. I won’t push you away because I created you, I have love for you. Come to any corner, if you need this love, if you want to survive in this love, stand strong in it.”

The pastor then posed a provocative question to the crowd, asking, “In 2026, will you show this same love? Will you show it?” As he wrapped up his speech, he urged the audience to support Thiruvallur West District Secretary PV Ramana in the upcoming 2026 state assembly elections. The pastor further advised the audience to campaign for the candidate among voters, stating, “If our party’s General Secretary says we won’t have an alliance with the BJP, it is certain that in 2026, AIADMK will come to power under the leadership of Edappadi Palaniswami.”

The remarks, especially the comparison of religions and the call for votes, have led to criticism, with many viewing the pastor’s speech as not only an attempt at religious conversion but also as a political manoeuvre aimed at influencing the upcoming elections supporting the AIADMK sparked controversy.

Is this really an ideology? It’s just smelly garbage. They are bringing in garbage from Kerala and dumping it here, and they don’t even know how to stop it. This is nothing but degraded rubbish.”

Taking a jibe at the DMK for hiding behind its ideologies, Seeman criticized, saying, “If Dravidam means social justice, then tell us what it is. Tell us, ‘We have established social justice here.’ Tell us, If you can. There are our ancestors far greater than Periyar. You call him the father of rationalism, but I have my grandfather, Pandit Iyothee Thass. You call him a socialist, yet Periyar himself admitted, ‘I learned socialist ideology from Singara Velar.’ We have another grandfather, Singara Velar, and another one named Jeevanandham. What mistakes have you identified in our ancestors? This is our ideology; this is our identity. We won’t oppose and accept (if you say) ‘Periyar also has spoken and struggled,’ but we will not accept ‘only Periyar struggled.’ We will oppose it strongly.”

He also criticized Dravidianists for dismissing Bharati solely based on his Brahmin identity, emphasizing that Bharati had transcended all such boundaries.

Speaking at an event in Chennai organized by NTK to commemorate the birth anniversary of Mahakavi Subramania Bharati, Seeman began by lauding Bharati’s spiritual devotion, his connection with the divine, and the unmatched elegance of his language.

Seeman stated, “As far as I know, everyone in the world stands before God and asks, ‘Grant me wisdom.’ No matter who it is in the world. But Bharati was only one in the world asked, ‘Tell me, Sivasakthi, why did you create me with this blazing intellect?’ the only one in the world who posed such a question is our ancestor Bharati, truly lived by the principles.”

Praising Bharati’s advocacy for gender equality, Seeman remarked, “Visit the homes of our ancestors, and you’ll find our grandfathers seated while our grandmothers stand. But in Bharati’s home, Chellamma would be seated while Bharati stood beside her. Chellamma would sit in a chair, and Bharati would stand there like that.”

Praising Bharati’s rationalism and his vision of a casteless society, Seeman drew parallels to saintly figures like Vaikundar and Vallalar. Seeman said, “You will not find a rationalist like him. Who is he? He is another Vaikundar, a Vallalar—a true counter-revolutionary. He sang, ‘I chanced upon a fiery ember of fire—I hid it in the hollow of a tree! The forest was laid waste by this small spark of fire.’ Why didn’t he place the fire at the roots or the branches? Why the hollow? Bharati knew the hollow would emerge only in an old tree, and that’s where he placed the fire. He was setting ablaze conservatism, superstition, and false beliefs. That is Bharati.” Seeman continued, “In Agraharam, donkey was forbidden to enter. Then I will enter by carrying the donkey with me. He is a true counter revolutionary.”

Seeman remarked, “Bharati is the only one in the world who changed the caste. He brought Kanagalingam from the Paraiyar community, shaved off his moustache, adorned him with the sacred thread (poonool), and declared by changing his caste that, ‘From today, you are an Iyer.’ It was him who boldly said, ‘If anyone asks who gave you the sacred thread, tell them it was Subramania Bharati.’ Just look at how he sings: ‘There is no caste, children! It is a sin to speak of caste as inferior or superior! Justice, high morals, education—those who have a lot of love are superior.’”

Taking a jab at Dravidianists and Periyarists, Seeman added, “Here is a man who taught us that ‘there is no caste,’ but for them, he’s just a ‘Paapan’ (a ridiculing word for Brahmin). Bharati said, ‘We shall not look at caste or religion. All human beings in this land—whether they preach the Vedas or belong to other castes—are one.’ He says all are one. Now, who is he to you? A Paapan. Why he is Paapan? Because he sees everyone as equal, and for that, he’s labeled a Paapan.”

In contemporary discourse, especially among certain Dalit activists and progressives, there is often a widespread claim that the Indian Constitution, crafted under Dr BR Ambedkar’s leadership, provides more power and equality to women than Manusmriti, the ancient Hindu text. This narrative, however, is steeped in ignorance, ignoring Dr. Ambedkar’s nuanced views on Manusmriti and its influence on his legal framework for India. It is essential to revisit Ambedkar’s own words and actions to understand the true role of Manusmriti in shaping modern Indian law, particularly on women’s rights.

Ambedkar’s Praise For Manusmriti

Contrary to the blanket condemnation of Manusmriti by modern critics, including some Dalit activists who argue that it represents the oppression of women and lower castes, Dr. Ambedkar himself recognized the wisdom contained in this ancient text. In his speech to the Constituent Assembly on 24 February 1949, Ambedkar explicitly acknowledged the importance of Manusmriti among other Smritis (texts on Hindu law). He remarked, “Among the 137 Smritis, Yajnavalkya and Manu are of a higher standard.” Ambedkar went on to highlight how Manu’s code provided for women’s inheritance rights, noting that Manu explicitly states that daughters are entitled to one-fourth of the inheritance (Manusmriti, Chapter 9, Shloka 117).

Dr. Ambedkar stressed that the change he was making through the Hindu Code Bill was not an innovation, but rather a return to the original intent of these texts, “We are simply going back to the text of the Smritis which you all respect.” His words were a direct challenge to those who opposed the reforms, particularly critics who claimed the Hindu Code Bill abandoned Hindu scriptures.

Ambedkar’s Use Of Manusmriti In Hindu Code Bill

In fact, Ambedkar used Manusmriti and other Smritis as references when drafting the Hindu Code Bill, which sought to modernize Hindu personal law and grant greater rights to women, including in areas such as marriage, divorce, and inheritance. In his speech at Siddharth College on January 11, 1950, Ambedkar elaborated on his use of ancient texts in his reform work, saying, “I used Manusmriti for caste determination, Parashara Smriti for divorce, Brihaspati Smriti for women’s rights, and Manusmriti for inheritance rights.”

This is critical to understanding Ambedkar’s approach. Rather than dismissing the ancient texts wholesale, he extracted relevant and progressive provisions and used them to shape a more equitable legal framework. This was especially important in the context of women’s rights, as Ambedkar believed that the Manusmriti’s provisions on inheritance, particularly those that recognized daughters’ entitlement to a share of property, were far ahead of their time. It is clear that Ambedkar did not see Manusmriti as a monolithic text of oppression, but rather as a source of ideas that could be adapted to modern needs.

The Manusmriti Myth And Modern Misinterpretations

Critics of Manusmriti, particularly those who have not studied the text in detail, often point to certain sections that they claim reflect the oppression of women and lower castes. However, they ignore the broader context and the teachings of Manusmriti on social equality, respect, and justice. It is important to note that Manu himself was a Kshatriya, not a Brahmin, which discredits the notion of Manusmriti being solely a tool of “Brahminical oppression.”

For example, Manu’s code includes provisions that were more progressive than many critics acknowledge. The text states that an elderly Shudra (a member of the lowest caste) should be respected by kings and Brahmins alike, a principle that upholds the dignity of all individuals, irrespective of caste. Moreover, Manu’s varna system was meritocratic, based on actions and deeds rather than birth. A Shudra’s child, if capable, could study the Vedas and rise to the rank of a Brahmin, exemplifying the idea that societal position was not fixed by birth but by merit.

Additionally, the text provides a vision of justice and fairness, including harsher punishments for Brahmins who commit the same crimes as a Shudra, which counters the common narrative of Manusmriti being solely about caste oppression. The document was a governance framework suited to its time, not an eternal law that should be applied unchanged in modern society.

The Misleading Narrative Of “Manu and Oppression”

The ongoing narrative by some activists that Manusmriti inherently oppressed women and lower castes, and that the Constitution of India did far more for women’s empowerment, is fundamentally flawed. This narrative fails to account for Ambedkar’s own engagement with Manusmriti and its provisions for women, which he regarded as progressive for its time.

Dr. Ambedkar, who had earlier burned a copy of Manusmriti in protest against its oppressive aspects, later recognized its contributions to women’s rights, particularly in the area of inheritance. His stance is clear: the Hindu Code Bill was not an abandonment of Hindu traditions but a reformative step to correct the misapplication of these traditions in the modern world.

In his Rajaram Theater speech on 25 December 1952, Ambedkar directly responded to critics of his Hindu Code Bill, stating: “My bill’s critics claim it abandons Hindu scriptures. I challenge them to find a clause unsupported by Manusmriti. Women’s property should go to daughters after death, just as brothers inherit the father’s.”

Dr. Ambedkar’s views on Manusmriti and his use of it to draft the Hindu Code Bill expose the ignorance of those who claim that the Constitution gave women more power than Manusmriti ever did. Ambedkar recognized the positive aspects of Manusmriti, especially its provisions for women’s inheritance rights, and he used those insights to guide his work on legal reforms. The simplistic narrative that dismisses Manusmriti as a tool of oppression ignores the complexity of Ambedkar’s views and the actual content of the text.

Instead of perpetuating misinterpretations and political propaganda, it is crucial to understand the historical context of Manusmriti and Dr. Ambedkar’s nuanced relationship with it. Ambedkar’s engagement with Manusmriti shows that progress is often built upon revisiting and reinterpreting the past, rather than wholesale rejection of it.

The Tenkasi Panchayat Union is made up of 9 wards, with 8 DMK councilors and 1 AIADMK councilor. The president, Sheikh Abdullah, is also from the DMK. The Union meeting was held on 20 December 2024.

During the meeting, a confrontation occurred between Ward 3 DMK councilor and Tenkasi East Union DMK secretary Azhagusundaram and Union president Sheikh Abdullah over unpaid commission for roads constructed in Tenkasi. A nearby attendee recorded the exchange, and the video quickly spread online. The internal party dispute gained further attention when 8 DMK councilors from the same party filed a no-confidence motion against the DMK vice-president, and the video of the argument between the councilors was also made public.

In the viral video, the DMK councilor is seen asking, “Tell us honestly, what happened to the TRP money? What happened to the 7 lakh rupees? Just say you’ll give only to those who voted, and we will leave. You don’t even need to give it in writing—just say it, and we’ll go. Are we here to beg for alms? What happened to my money?” The other person tries to reassure him that he will receive the payment, but the councilor remains unconvinced, responding, “When will it come? Last time you said the same thing, but when did we actually receive it? You only gave us two bundles of notes.”

Tamil Nadu BJP president K Annamalai has strongly criticized the ruling DMK government, raising serious questions about its financial mismanagement and governance issues in the state’s education department.

In a statement released on 22 December 2024, via his official X account, Tamil Nadu BJP president K. Annamalai criticized the DMK government, highlighting serious financial mismanagement and governance concerns. He stated, “It has come to light that internet services for 385 district education offices across Tamil Nadu have been disconnected due to several months of unpaid fees. Due to the disconnection, the education of the students has been severely impacted students’ education and there is also delayed the preparation of teachers’ salary lists. Under the DMK regime, Tamil Nadu has turned into a debtor state. Tamil Nadu is in debt to the tune of about ₹8.5 lakh crore. The CAG audit report has stated that the entire loan taken is used only for daily expenses and is not used for their intended purposes. If the district education offices are unable to pay the internet connection fees and the state has to rely on loans for daily expenses, then the question arises how the DMK government is actually spending the direct tax revenue of the Tamil Nadu government and the 70% of the funds that Tamil Nadu gets as its share in GST. Where is all this money going? He also questioned the Chief Minister, asking, “Is the Tamil Nadu government on the brink of bankruptcy? Chief Minister @mkstalin should provide an explanation to the people.”

Government Schools in Tamil Nadu Face Internet Disconnection Amid Outstanding Bills

Recent reports revealed that over 3,700 high and higher secondary government schools in Tamil Nadu are at risk of losing their internet connections due to unpaid bills amounting to ₹1.5 crore owed to BSNL. This comes at a time when the state government is actively promoting smart classrooms and hi-tech labs in schools statewide.

These 3,700 schools, representing nearly 50% of the 6,223 high and higher secondary schools in Tamil Nadu, have reportedly not paid their internet bills for the past two to three months, primarily due to a lack of funds.

A circular issued by the school education department to district chief education officers revealed that the hi-tech labs in these schools operate using Fibre to the Home (FTTH) connections under the Samagra Shiksha Scheme. In a letter, BSNL’s Tamil Nadu Telecom Circle warned of service suspension if the dues were not cleared by Saturday.

Internet Upgrade Efforts Contrasted by Payment Delays

Earlier in May, the state government announced a partnership with BSNL to upgrade internet speeds in schools from 5-6 Mbps to 100 Mbps to meet the increasing demand for faster connectivity. By the end of May, high-speed internet had been installed in 5,907 out of 6,223 schools, with the remaining to follow soon after.

Funding Challenges and Impact on Schools

Headmasters highlighted that reliable internet is critical for the functioning of hi-tech labs, which support multimedia-based learning, career guidance, language classes, and mental health programs. However, funding issues have created significant challenges.

Previously, the government provided internet connections through a private provider with speeds of 3-5 Mbps, allocating ₹20,000 per school annually. Currently, schools receive ₹1,500 per month for internet charges, but the funds are often disbursed only once every three to six months.

“Many headmasters end up paying the bills out of their own pockets or using maintenance grants and seek reimbursement later. However, schools with fewer students find it difficult to manage since their maintenance grants are minimal,” explained a headmaster from Dharmapuri.

Headmasters have urged the department to centralize payments for electricity and internet bills to service providers, alleviating the financial strain on schools and avoiding delays in payments.

Government Response

Officials from the school education department stated that funds for internet charges had been released up to August for high schools and up to September for higher secondary schools. They acknowledged delays in fund disbursal from district offices to schools and announced a meeting with chief education officers (CEOs) to address the issue.

“We have also requested internet operators not to suspend services,” an official said. When asked about centralized payments, the official noted that while BSNL provides internet in most schools, others use alternative service providers. The department plans to explore solutions to prevent such issues in the future.

Talib A – Doctor, Specialist in Psychiatry and Psychotherapy

Talib had previously been accused of terrorism in Saudi Arabia and trafficking girls from the Middle East to European countries. Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi was the leader of the terrorist organization ISIS. He rose to global prominence in 2014 when he captured large parts of Syria and Iraq, founding ISIS and declaring himself Caliph.

Riyaz Naiku – Math Teacher (Government Permanent Teacher)

After the death of terrorist Burhan Wani, Riyaz Naiku became the face of terrorism in Kashmir. As a top commander of Hizbul Mujahideen with a bounty of Rs 12 lakh on his head, Riyaz Naiku was killed by security forces in May 2020.

The Growing Threat Of Jihadism In Germany: 30 Islamist-Linked Attacks And Plots

On 21 December 2024, Police in Germany arrested Taleb A, a 50-year-old doctor originally from Saudi Arabia, after he drove his car into a crowded Christmas market in Magdeburg. The attack resulted in the deaths of five people and left several injured. Taleb A, known as an ex-Muslim and supporter of the far-right political party Alternative for Germany (AfD), has raised significant concerns.

Here we compile 30 instances of Islamic jihad-related incidents in Germany between 2016 and 2024, including some, where Islamist mobs carried out knife attacks on citizens. The report also highlights Islamist plots targeting embassies and attacks on German police, all framed as actions carried out under the banner of Islam.

#1 – Saudi Doctor Arrested After Deadly Magdeburg Christmas Market Attack

In December 2024, a 50-year-old Saudi doctor, Taleb A., was arrested by German police after ramming his car into a Christmas market in Magdeburg, killing two and injuring 68. Taleb, an ex-Muslim and critic of Islam, supported the far-right AfD party. He moved to Germany in 2006, was granted asylum in 2016, and ran a website to help ex-Muslims. Authorities are treating the incident as a terror attack but believe he acted alone. Germany rejected Saudi Arabia’s extradition request, and Chancellor Olaf Scholz condemned the attack, offering condolences to the victims and their families.

In December 2024, Michael Stürzenberger, a vocal critic of jihad and Sharia law, was stabbed by a jihadi and later convicted by a German court for “incitement to hatred,” receiving a €3,600 fine. The persecution of Stürzenberger, much like other populist figures, signals the rise of political censorship and a potential decline in freedom of expression in Germany.

#3: Algerian Migrant Arrested for Arson in Germany, Injuring 16

In November 2024, a 35-year-old Algerian migrant was arrested in Germany for allegedly setting fire to an asylum center in Schleiden-Vogelsang, North Rhine-Westphalia. The fire injured 16 people and destroyed the building, with two neighboring homes also rendered uninhabitable. Around 110 firefighters responded to the blaze, which was believed to be deliberately set. The suspect faced charges including attempted murder, arson, and grievous bodily harm. Similar incidents of asylum seekers setting fire to their accommodations have occurred across Europe.

#4 – 15-Year-Old Teen Arrested in Germany for Alleged Islamist Attack Plot

In October 2024, a 15-year-old Turkish-German teenager was arrested in Düsseldorf for allegedly planning an Islamist-style attack on European Jews. Police discovered he had been in contact with Islamist terrorists online and had shared pro-ISIS content on social media. The teenager was reportedly planning the attack during a school trip to Holland. This arrest follows the August Solingen attack, where an ISIS-affiliated Syrian asylum seeker killed three people. Germany has seen a rise in violent Islamist activity, with recent incidents including a machete attack on soldiers and a series of arson and ramming attacks.

#5 – Libyan National Arrested in Germany for Alleged Plot Against Israeli Embassy

In October 2024, a 28-year-old Libyan national was arrested in Germany on suspicion of planning a terror attack on Israel’s embassy in Berlin. Authorities acted on intelligence from foreign services and stormed an apartment in Bernau, near Berlin. The suspect, believed to be an ISIS supporter, had entered Germany in 2022, with his asylum request rejected in 2023. This arrest highlights the rising threat of Islamist terrorism and antisemitism in Germany, following attacks, including the stabbing spree in Solingen. The German government has heightened security and taken stricter measures on immigration in response.

#6 – Syrian Man Arrested After Violent Rampage in Essen

In September 2024, a 41-year-old Syrian man was arrested in Essen after ramming a van into two shops and threatening passers-by with a machete. Police said his motive appeared to be personal, linked to his wife leaving him. Armed with knives and fire accelerants, he targeted homes and shops connected to people who supported his wife. This incident comes amid growing concerns over migration and a rise in suspected Islamist extremist attacks in Germany, including the fatal knife attack in Solingen in August. In response, Germany is tightening immigration controls and knife laws.

#7 – Knife Threat at Stuttgart Wine Festival

A 23-year-old man threatened staff at the Stuttgart Wine Village festival in September 2024, shouting “I will bring you all to Allah!” after demanding the music be turned off. After initially walking away, he returned with a knife, making stabbing motions. Security intervened immediately, and police responded quickly. The man, a German national, was investigated for threatening behavior, but authorities don’t believe the incident had an extremist motive.

#8 – Syrian National Arrested for Plot to Kill German Soldiers

In September 2024. a 27-year-old Syrian man, suspected of holding radical Islamist views, was arrested for plotting to kill German soldiers with machetes in Hof, Bavaria. The suspect planned to attack Bundeswehr soldiers during their lunch break, aiming to create fear and attract attention. Authorities tightened border controls following several recent knife attacks, including the August attack in Solingen, where three were killed.

#9: Two Afghan Men Charged for Plotting Attack in Sweden

Two Afghan men, Ibrahim M.G. and Ramin N., were charged in Germany for planning an attack on Sweden in retaliation for Quran burnings. Arrested in March 2024, they were accused of conspiring to kill police officers near the Swedish Parliament using firearms. Ibrahim M.G. is linked to ISIS-K, an Islamic State affiliate, and was tasked with carrying out the attack. The men raised funds for ISIS in Germany and conducted online research to procure weapons. Despite their efforts, they were unsuccessful in acquiring firearms before their arrest.

#10 – Berlin Man Robbed and Injured After Religious Dispute

In August 2024, a 20-year-old man was robbed and injured by three individuals, allegedly Islamists, in Berlin’s Mitte district at around 2:15 a.m. The suspects confronted the victim for drinking beer, citing religious reasons, before assaulting him and stealing his phone and bag. The victim sustained a cut on his forearm. Two suspects fled, while the victim detained a 14-year-old until police arrived. The young suspect was handed over to a guardian after being questioned.

#11: Iranian Man Attacked Police Near Nuremberg, Shot Dead

In July 2024, a 34-year-old Iranian man died after attacking three police officers with a knife near Nuremberg, Germany, on Sunday. The man initially targeted a police patrol car before attempting to knife the officers when they exited the vehicle. A female officer shot the man at a bus stop outside a train station in Lauf an der Pegnitz. Despite first aid from the officers and emergency medical personnel, he died at the scene. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities yet to determine the motive or the man’s background. There was no public danger, though the train station was temporarily closed.

#12 – Gang of Migrants Sought After Brutal Assault in Bad Oeynhausen

In June 2024, police in Bad Oeynhausen, Germany, began searching for a gang of around 10 young male migrants who allegedly assaulted two men, aged 19 and 20, early Sunday morning. The suspects punched the victims to the ground and kicked them while they were defenseless. The 20-year-old victim sustained serious head injuries and remains in critical condition, with his life in danger. The suspects, described as being of Maghreb or Arab origin, were seen walking toward the town center after the attack.

#13 – Afghan Migrant Arrested for Stabbing Ukrainian Woman in Frankfurt

In June 2024, a 19-year-old Afghan migrant is under investigation for attempted murder after stabbing a 41-year-old Ukrainian woman in a Frankfurt park on Monday. The man approached the woman from behind, repeatedly stabbing her in the neck and head with a boxcutter knife. Witnesses intervened, causing the attacker to flee, but he was later found hiding and arrested. The woman, who had fled the war in Ukraine, is seriously injured.

#14 – Iraqi Man Arrested in Germany for ISIS Attack Plans

Mahmoud A., an Iraqi man, was arrested in Esslingen, Germany, on suspicion of preparing attacks on behalf of ISIS. Prosecutors allege that he joined ISIS in Iraq in 2016 and fought for the group. After arriving in Germany in October 2022, he is accused of planning to carry out attacks, though no specific targets or plans have been revealed. The suspect was held on charges of being a member of a foreign terrorist organization, with further investigations ongoing.

#15 – Hamas Plot to Attack Israeli Embassy in Berlin Uncovered

In May 2024, German security services uncovered a Hamas plot to target the Israeli embassy in Berlin and a U.S. military base. A Lebanese-origin suspect, arrested in December 2023, was found with location data on his phone and accused of scouting sites for weapons storage. The suspect reportedly received instructions from Hamas officials in Lebanon, a revelation that aligns with Israeli reports of a Hamas network operating in Europe. The swift arrest potentially thwarted a major attack.

#16 – ISIS Terror Cell Plotting Attacks in Germany Arrested

A terrorist cell consisting of individuals from Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and the Netherlands was arrested in Germany in July 2023. The group, linked to ISIS Khorasan, planned major attacks in Germany and Western Europe but lacked specific targets. They formed a terrorist organization and were in contact with ISIS members. The suspects had regular meetings to strategize potential locations for attacks. ISIS has escalated operations since the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan, presenting a growing security threat in the region. The group was also connected to a deadly shooting in Moscow that killed at least 137 people.

#17 – Moroccan Asylum Seeker Found Guilty of Murder and Attempted Murder

Ahmed Alid, 45, a Moroccan asylum seeker, was found guilty of murdering 70-year-old Terence Carney and attempting to murder his housemate, Javed Nouri, in Hartlepool in October 2023. Alid, motivated by the Gaza conflict and extremist views, attacked Nouri with a kitchen knife before fatally stabbing Carney during an early morning walk. Alid claimed his actions were in protest against Israel and the Palestinian issue. He was also convicted of assaulting emergency workers during his arrest.

#18 – Afghan Suspects Arrested in Germany Over Planned Attack on Swedish Parliament

Two Afghan nationals were arrested in Germany in March 2024 for allegedly planning a firearms attack on Sweden’s parliament, in retaliation for Quran burnings in Sweden and other Scandinavian countries. One suspect is linked to ISIS, while the other is a supporter. The suspects made preparations, attempted to acquire weapons, and researched Stockholm as the attack site. They also collected donations for ISIS.

#19 – Four Teenagers Arrested in Germany Over Islamist Terror Plot

Four teenagers, including three from North Rhine-Westphalia and one from Stuttgart, were arrested in Germany in April 2024 for planning an Islamist terrorist attack. The suspects, aged 15 and 16, allegedly intended to target churches, synagogues, or public locations in Dortmund, Düsseldorf, and Cologne. Investigations revealed discussions of Molotov cocktail and knife attacks, with plans to potentially acquire firearms. Authorities were prompted by a 16-year-old girl’s suspected attempt to join ISIS.

#20 – Man Dies After Attack By Syrian Man In Dortmund Psychiatric Facility

A 67-year-old man died after being attacked by a 42-year-old patient, a Syrian man, in a psychiatric facility in Dortmund. Carers found the suspect kneeling on the victim’s chest while shouting prayers. The victim, from Lünen, fell into a coma and later died in the hospital due to respiratory tract injuries, as confirmed by the autopsy.

#21 – Violent Attack at Christopher Street Day Celebration in Halle

After the Christopher Street Day (CSD) parade in Halle, a group of CSD participants was attacked by four men in September 2023, with homophobic insults being hurled at them. The attackers, described as having a southern appearance, physically assaulted the group with punches and kicks. A 41-year-old victim suffered serious injuries and was hospitalized, while three others were treated at the scene. Police apprehended two suspects, aged 16 and 20, who were identified as Afghan nationals.

#22: Neukölln Schoolgirls Stabbed By Turkish Migrant, Claimed Mental Illness

On 3 May 2023, 38-year-old Berhan S. stabbed two young girls, aged seven and eight, at Neukölln Evangelical School, causing serious injuries. Prosecutors dropped charges after deeming him psychotic and not criminally responsible. Berhan claimed he heard voices urging him to attack. His violent history included a 2009 stabbing of his partner and multiple prior offenses. Critics questioned the role of religious indoctrination and the blurred line between mental illness and ideological extremism.

#23 – Syrian Man Injures Police in Violent Nuremberg Train Station Attack

A 28-year-old Syrian man attacked police officers with a broken glass bottle at Nuremberg’s main train station, shouting “Allahu Akbar” during the incident. Three officers were injured, including a 23-year-old who sustained severe injuries. The attack, described as particularly brutal, prompted the homicide commission to investigate attempted manslaughter, with an Islamist motive. The man was restrained with the help of additional officers. Witnesses reported he had been threatening passers-by before police intervention.

#24 – Police Foil Suspected Suicide Attack in Germany

German police detained a 27-year-old Syrian man in Harburg after receiving intelligence from a foreign secret service about a potential Islamist-inspired suicide attack. The operation, led by the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution, involved a search of a refugee accommodation in Tostedt, though no explosives or weapons were found. Reports indicate the suspect had asked for prayers on social media before deactivating his accounts. The man was held for 11 days under the Police and Regulatory Authorities Act of Lower Saxony.

#25 – Arab Mob Attacks Graduation Party in Görlitz, Injures Eight

In July 2023, a violent incident occurred outside the “Zwei Linden” discotheque in Görlitz, where a group of 12 to 20 individuals of Arab origin attacked guests at a graduation party. Using broken bottles, the attackers injured at least eight people, with five victims requiring hospital treatment. The suspects, aged 19 to 35, included Syrians, Turks, Iraqis, and Lebanese. The altercation reportedly began with verbal insults, escalating to physical violence and property damage amounting to €3,500.

#26 – Stabbing Rampage on German Train by Palestinian Migrant Leaves Two Dead

In January 2023, a 33-year-old Palestinian, Ibrahim A., killed two and injured seven in a stabbing spree aboard a train from Kiel to Hamburg. The attacker, previously in custody for violent and sexual offenses, was subdued by police and passengers in Brokstedt after fleeing the train and continuing his assault on the platform.

#27 – Syrian Jihadist Sentenced to Life for Deadly Homophobic Attack in Germany

A German court sentenced 21-year-old Syrian Abdullah A. to life imprisonment for the 2020 stabbing of a gay couple in Dresden. Motivated by radical Islamist views, Abdullah attacked Thomas L., 55, and his partner Oliver L., 53, with a knife, killing Thomas and seriously wounding Oliver. The court declared a “particular severity of guilt,” barring early release. Abdullah had a criminal history, including terrorist affiliations, and was under surveillance at the time of the attack. The case was Germany’s first fatal Islamist attack targeting gay individuals.

#28 – Danish and German Authorities Arrest 14 Over Islamist Bomb Plot

In 2021, authorities in Denmark and Germany arrested 14 suspects in connection with a planned Islamist bomb attack. Thirteen individuals were detained in Copenhagen’s suburbs, while one was arrested in Germany. Among the suspects were three Syrian brothers accused of preparing explosives and acquiring weapons. Searches uncovered 10 kilograms of black powder, chemicals, firearms, and an Islamic State flag, suggesting links to the terror group. #29 – Palestinian Asylum Seeker Sentenced to Life for Hamburg Knife Attack

A Palestinian asylum seeker and radicalized Islamist received a life sentence in 2018 for a knife attack in a Hamburg supermarket which killed a 50-year-old man and injured six others. The attacker, known to authorities, was subdued by locals who threw chairs and objects at him. He could not be deported due to a lack of identification documents and psychological instability. Despite being flagged as an Islamist in intelligence systems, he was not deemed violent or linked to imminent threats.

#30 – Afghan Teen’s IS-Linked Axe Attack on German Train

A 17-year-old Afghan asylum seeker carried out an IS-linked axe and knife attack on a German train, injuring five people, one critically, before being shot dead by police. A video released by IS showed the attacker declaring himself a “soldier” preparing for a mission. Authorities later found an IS flag and radical writings in his foster home. The teen, who arrived in Germany as an unaccompanied minor, reportedly self-radicalized. Among the victims were Hong Kong tourists, with one family member and a boyfriend shielding others.

Tamil Nadu BJP president K Annamalai has strongly criticized DMK Law Minister S. Regupathy, questioning whether he is a law minister or merely a “pettai rowdy.” This sharp rebuke follows Regupathy’s remarks accusing the BJP and its cadres of having criminal backgrounds and always being armed.

Recently, DMK Law Minister S. Regupathy, while speaking to reporters in Pudukkottai, accused the BJP of harboring individuals with criminal backgrounds, stating, “The BJP is the only party at the national level that includes antisocial elements, individuals involved in various crimes, listed rowdies, and criminals in its ranks. No other party does this. We have provided evidence and a list of names multiple times, and if needed, we are ready to provide another list of names again. We do not knowingly allow such things in the DMK. If anything like this happens, it is immediately reported to the leadership, and disciplinary action is taken, leading to their removal.” He further added, “We don’t care whether the BJP takes up arms or not, but it is a well-known fact that they always have weapons in their possession.”

In response, BJP State President K. Annamalai, addressing the media in Coimbatore, sharply criticized Minister Regupathy. He suggested that Regupathy should first undergo basic training that is given to Tamil Nadu police officers. Annamalai recommended he attend the police training camp in Vandalur, where officers are taught that 80% of crime prevention involves monitoring and handling rowdies, while only 20% focuses on post-crime actions. “Minister Regupathy should learn this,” Annamalai said.

Annamalai remarked, “Today, I doubt whether he is a law minister or a DMK street thug (Pettai rowdy) because there is no chance a law minister would use such language. During a press meet, he says, ‘They will stab.’ Will any responsible minister speak like this? Only the street rowdy will say, ‘Rowdy will come now, will stab you and me. A responsible minister should not speak like this in a press meet. Secondly, he accuses BJP cadres of having weapons. Tell me, which BJP (cadre) had a weapon and committed which such acts? Regarding the Vellore incident, it was your DMK panchayat president’s driver, son, and family who came and stabbed him. The case stems from the incitement by your DMK panchayat president.
