Dravidian Model Healthcare: “No Doctor, No Ambulance” – Family Alleges Negligence In 9-Year-Old’s Tragic Death In Sivagiri Govt PHC

On 18 February 2025, relatives of a 9-year-old girl who died from a suspected snakebite staged a protest at the Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Thenmalai, near Sivagiri following the tragic death of Suba Karthika, who passed away on 15 February 2025. Her family alleged negligence of the administration that the nurse had refused to treat the child and that no doctor was present at the facility.

Though Karthika’s body had already been buried, some health staff reportedly told the media that they had treated the child before referring her to Sivagiri Government Hospital. This sparked outrage among her relatives, leading them to protest.

Karthika’s aunt, M. Jothimani, who had taken the child to the PHC, recounted the events, “Karthika was playing outside on 15 February 2025 night when she complained of leg pain and swelling. When we took her to the PHC, there was no doctor. I laid her on a bed, but the nurse did not touch her. She simply told me to take her to Sivagiri Government Hospital without arranging an ambulance. While we were on our way there on a two-wheeler, the child passed away. The health staff misled the media, claiming they had treated her at the PHC, and some reports carried their version. If anti-venom had been administered at the PHC, she might have survived.”

During the protest, local residents demanded that senior health officials review the PHC’s CCTV footage to verify the truth. “The nurse should have informed Jothimani that there was no anti-venom available and advised her to take the child to the government hospital. Instead, she was rude and told Jothimani to leave. Most of the time, doctors aren’t even available at this PHC. The staff often humiliates elderly women, telling them to return after bathing. How can an elderly person with a fever be expected to bathe?” the protesting women, including Karthika’s mother, told female police officers.

Dr. Govinthan, the District Health Officer, clarified that in secondary PHCs like the one in Thenmalai, doctors are unavailable at night and only provide on-call support. “The PHC staff allowed the child to be taken on a two-wheeler because the ambulance would have taken longer to arrive. The actual cause of death will be confirmed after the postmortem report is received,” he added.

DMK Desperately Tries To Brand MK Stalin As “Appa” Akin To Jayalalithaa Being Fondly Called “Amma” By The People

Unlike past titles that arose from genuine public sentiment, this one feels as scripted as a Tamil soap opera, with Stalin himself fervently insisting that children across Tamil Nadu already address him as their political patriarch. But given the soaring crime rates against women and children, the question arises—are they calling him Appa out of devotion, or is it merely a desperate cry for help?

Political Branding: The Old Playbook, Rewritten

Tamil Nadu’s political stage has long been adorned with affectionate honorifics. The late J. Jayalalithaa wasn’t just a leader; she was Amma (Mother), a brand unto herself, stamped onto welfare schemes like Amma Canteens, Amma Drinking Water, and even Amma Pharmacies. Unlike Stalin’s self-imposed fatherly aspirations, her title was cemented by an intricate mix of governance, welfare, and relentless party propaganda.

Stalin, however, seems to believe that mere repetition can manufacture reverence. Already styled as Thalapathy (Commander), he apparently finds it insufficient for his larger-than-life ambitions. Thus, the push for Appa—not merely a leader, but the state’s benevolent patriarch. Or at least, that’s the sales pitch.

Appa: Affection or Audition?

The aggressive rollout of the Appa narrative has been evident at numerous state-sponsored spectacles. Be it the Muthalvan Scheme, the Breakfast Scheme, or the Innovative Women’s Scheme, Stalin has delighted in claiming that students lovingly refer to him as Appa. In a bizarre display, even at the North Chennai Development Project—an event utterly unrelated to education—he still found a way to remind the audience: “Students affectionately call me Appa.”

One must wonder: if you repeat something often enough, does it become true? DMK cadres have already received the memo, and one can foresee the inevitable trajectory—Thalapathy Appa, then Muthalvar Appa, and finally, just Appa, as if he alone fathered an entire state. If the DMK’s PR team had their way, Stalin’s portrait would replace ancestral photos in Tamil households, looming over dining tables like a Big Brother who only accepts garlanded adoration.

Will the Appa Persona Withstand Reality?

But history is unkind to manufactured cults of personality. Political monikers are either organically embraced or collapse under their own artificial weight. Jayalalithaa’s Amma endured because it was woven into the fabric of public welfare, leaving an indelible mark. Stalin’s Appa, however, risks being remembered not as a symbol of care, but as a grotesque irony in a state where women and children increasingly cry Appa!—not in reverence, but in terror.

If Stalin truly wishes to be Appa, perhaps he should start by ensuring Tamil Nadu’s daughters and sons feel safe enough to stop screaming his name in distress.

Dravidian Model Of Education: Asst HM Of Govt High School In Pudukottai Arrested Under POCSO Act For Harassing Girl Students, BJP TN Chief Annamalai Slams DMK Govt

A 58-year-old assistant headmaster of a government high school in Pudukottai was arrested on Monday (17 February 2025) under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act for allegedly sexually harassing multiple girl students.

The arrest followed a week-long inquiry by the district child protection officer (DCPO) after a student contacted the Childline helpline (1098) on 10 February 2025, reporting the misconduct. Based on the inquiry, the DCPO lodged a formal complaint against the accused for allegedly inappropriately touching female students on the school premises.

Following his arrest, the assistant headmaster was produced before the Pudukottai Mahila Court on Tuesday and remanded in judicial custody for 14 days. The Thirumayam all-woman police station has booked him under the POCSO Act and Section 7 of the Juvenile Justice (Protection of Children) Act.

Authorities suspect that the accused may have been involved in similar misconduct for several months, though an in-depth investigation is still underway.

Commenting on the incident, K. Shanmugam, Chief Educational Officer of Pudukottai district, assured strict action against the accused.
Police and child protection authorities continue to investigate the case to determine if more students were affected.

In light of this, BJP TN Chief Annamalai took to his X handle to slam the state government for its failure to protect the school girls. He wrote, “An assistant principal of a government school in Pudukkottai district has been arrested for sexually harassing 7 female students. In every district of Tamil Nadu, female students continue to be subjected to sexual harassment. Three years have passed since the schools promised to set up advisory committees to ensure the safety of students. The fact that these committees are not functioning in any of the schools shows that schoolgirls continue to be subjected to sexual assault. Only after calling the national emergency helpline number 1098 for child protection, action has been taken. The DMK government has completely failed to protect our school going girls. Even after all these crimes, no action has been taken to ensure the safety of school students. The Minister of School Education, Mr. Anbil Mahesh, has no moral right or qualification to continue as a minister. Mr. Anbil Mahesh should resign from the post of School Education Minister immediately. I urge the Chief Minister to immediately appoint another competent and child-friendly minister to the School Education Department and ensure the safety of school children.”

India Turns Food-Surplus Powerhouse Driven By Robust Farm Sector Growth: Study

India has evolved from a food-scarce nation to a food-surplus powerhouse with a strong export performance on the back of robust growth in agriculture, reflecting the farm sector’s resilience and its significant role in the global agricultural trade landscape, according to a study released by apex business chamber PHDCCI.

The report, titled ‘India’s Agricultural Transformation: From Food Scarcity to Surplus’, projects the country’s foodgrain production growth at 2 per cent, to about 3,357 lakh tonnes for the year 2024-25. The business chamber’s projections indicate a significant expansion in agricultural and processed food products exports, with exports reaching $125 billion by FY2030, $250 billion by FY2035, $450 billion by FY2040, and $700 billion by FY2047.

The PHDCCI study projects that India’s food processing sector is expected to reach $700 billion by FY 2030, $1,100 billion by FY2035, $1,500 billion by FY 2040, $1,900 billion by FY 2040, and $2,150 billion by 2047. The report states that while some states excel in agricultural performance, their overall economic growth remains modest.

This highlights an opportunity to better leverage agricultural success to drive broader economic development. By strengthening linkages between agriculture and other sectors, these states can unlock new avenues for growth, fostering more inclusive and balanced economic growth, the report points out.

Overall, the analysis suggests that foodgrain production in India is significantly influenced by factors such as electricity availability, warehousing capacity, and gross irrigated area. Rainfall does not appear to have a statistically significant impact, which contrasts with the traditional view of India’s heavy reliance on the monsoon for agriculture.

The report is of the view that they have a moderate degree of association. This points to a more resilient agriculture having emerged in the country. PHDCCI said that the objective of the study was to analyse agriculture and factors impacting agriculture in India by applying the techniques of trend analysis, correlation, and regression.

The latest figures also show that India’s rice exports jumped by a robust 44.61 per cent to $1.37 billion in January 2025 from $0.95 billion in January 2024 to emerge as one of the major growth drivers in the country’s overseas merchandise basket, reflecting the strength of the country’s farm sector. Similarly, soybean exports have also risen to a record high during the month.

NIA Arrests Three More In ISI-Linked Vizag Espionage Case

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested three more accused in the Pakistani ISI-linked Visakhapatnam espionage case involving sensitive and classified Naval defence information. The NIA said on Wednesday the arrests were made in Karnataka and Kerala with the assistance of local police. While Vethan Laxman Tandel and Akshay Ravi Naik were picked up from Uttara Kannada district in Karnataka, Abhilash P.

A was arrested from Kochi on Tuesday. With these, the total arrests in the case have gone up to eight. All three accused arrested were found to have been in contact with Pakistan Intelligence Operatives (PIOs) through social media. They were sharing sensitive information about Indian defence establishments at Karwar Naval Base and Kochi Naval Base and receiving money from PIOs in exchange for the information, as per NIA investigations.

The NIA has so far charge-sheeted five persons, including two absconding Pakistani operatives, in the case that was originally registered by the Counter Intelligence Cell, Andhra Pradesh, in January 2021 under sections 120-B (criminal conspiracy), 121 (A) (conspiring to commit certain offences against the state), and sections 17 and 18 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act that deal with punishment for raising funds for terrorist acts and conspiracy respectively.

The Counter Intelligence Cell, which registered the case on January 12, 2021, also invoked section 3 of the Official Secrets Act that defines punishment for spying. The NIA investigations have revealed that Pakistani national Meer Balaj Khan, along with an arrested accused Akash Solanki, was involved in the espionage racket relating to the leakage of sensitive vital information about the Navy, as part of an anti-India conspiracy.

Besides Meer Balaj and Solanki, NIA has chargesheeted another absconding PIO, identified as Alven, Manmohan Surendra Panda and Amaan Salim Shaikh in the case. In June 2023, the NIA took over the case after Andhra Pradesh police suspected involvement of foreign intelligence operatives. The anti-terror agency is continuing to probe the case to unravel the complete espionage conspiracy by Pak-based and other anti-national elements.

In August last year, the NIA raided 16 locations in seven states as part of its probe. The raids were conducted on premises linked to the accused suspected to have received funds from the ISI and its operatives in exchange for sensitive and confidential information related to the Indian Navy. Akash Solanki from Uttar Pradesh’s Firozabad was working at the naval dockyard in Visakhapatnam. Manmohan Surendra Panda and Aman Shaikh had allegedly facilitated the honey trapping of officials working at the dockyard to elicit information through escorts planted by the ISI.

“They Tell Us To Learn Hindi But Hindi People Are Coming Here To Be Construction Labourers”: DMK MP A Raja Derogates North Indian Migrant Labourers

It seems as if the DMK is going lock, stock, and barrel to oppose the imaginary Hindi imposition under the National Education Policy which prescribes a three-language system for the students. Defiant in not implementing the scheme, the party and its allies are protesting against it by conducting meetings across the state. Earlier DMK-ally, Tamizhaga Vazhvumurai Katchi founder Velmurugan made a seditious speech about the three-language policy. Then, it came to light that DMK MP A Raja had also made similar statements while arguing why the policy does not stand in a state like Tamil Nadu.

Speaking at an event in Coimbatore, Raja went on the offensive and made derogatory remarks about Hindi speakers. He said, “The several thousand crores that are due for us (TN) has not yet come. If we demand, they tell us to study Hindi and only then would we get it. We oppose the Union government that demands that we in Tamil Nadu study Hindi in order to receive the funds. It is alright if you do not give us our funds, we will not give up on our state’s culture and language. We will continue with the two-language policy only. There is only one Chief Minister who has the audacity to say so and it is none other than our CM. They say if we learn Hindi, we will get jobs. But the Hindi speakers who have come here are only doing construction labour jobs or in fields. Earlier they were only selling panipuri. Now they are working in farms.”

He further proudly stated, “Children from TN who studied English and Tamil are studying in America, England, Australia. So why should we study Hindi? The right to ask that question has been given to us by our Chief Minister.”

“If That ‘Mami’ Who Eats Curd Rice Gets So Much Anger, Imagine The Anger We Who Eat Mutton Bone Will Get”: Rabid Dravidianist DMK-Ally MLA Velmurugan Spews Casteist Venom On FM Nirmala Sitharaman

The issue of the three-language formula of the National Education Policy 2020 continues to simmer in Tamil Nadu. Speaking at a protest in Chennai against the three-language policy, Tamizhaga Vazhurimai Katchi leader Velmurugan made some disparaging and derogatory comments about Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, targeting her caste.

The parties allying with the DMK in Tamil Nadu decided to hold a protest against the “imposition of Hindi” on behalf of the I.N.D.I. alliance. The demonstration took place on 19 February 2025, with key political leaders in attendance, including Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, Tamil Nadu Vazhuvrimai Katchi leader Velmurugan, MDMK General Secretary Vaiko, Tamil Nadu Congress leader Selvapperundhagai, Dravidar Kazhagam leader Veeramani, and other prominent figures.

Velmurugan said, “Right from sister Kanimozhi, Raja, TR Baalu, all the Parliament members are tearing apart the unjust acts of the Sangh Parivar gang led by the Modi government. After Karunanidhi, the 40 MPs under the leadership of our Thalapathy (Stalin) are so talented that they are making the whole nation turn and look. None of the Sanghi gang (Sanghi gumbal) is able to answer any of the questions posed by our people. Nirmala Sitharaman is seething and crying (referring to her in singluar). That “mami” (a derogatory term for a Brahmin woman) only gets angry. If you, who eat curd rice, can get so angry, then how much angrier should we, who eat bone marrow (nalli elumbu), be? This is your betrayal of this land and its people. Whether it is Cyclone Ockhi Vardah cyclone or Thane cyclone or if there is a natural disaster, there is no money. There is no money if Chennai sinks. When we asked them to send a helicopter to rescue the Kurangani fire accident victims, they said our aircrafts cannot “see” after 6 o’clock. Then why the hell do we have a military helicopter? If I talk too much, Chief Minister Stalin will call me in the Assembly and ask me why Velu did you talk like this. I am getting angry.”

This is not the first time FM Nirmala Sitharaman has been attacked for her Brahmin background. Right from DMK MP Dayanidhi Maran to DMK MP A Raja to Justice Chandru who recommended “solutions” to prevent caste violence in TN, every single Dravidianist has referred to her by derogatory casteist names.

BJP TN Head Annamalai Writes To TN DGP Over Security Lapse During Union Minister’s Temple Visit

Tamil Nadu BJP president K. Annamalai has written to the state Director General of Police (DGP), seeking an explanation regarding the alleged mishandling of security for Union Minister of State L. Murugan during his recent visit to the Thiruparankundram Murugan Temple in Madurai.

In his letter, Annamalai expressed strong disapproval over what he described as “unacceptable heckling” of the Minister by police personnel at the temple entrance, despite prior clearance from the Tamil Nadu Police for his February 17 visit.

“The itinerary included visits to both the Arulmigu Subramaniya Swami Temple and the Arulmigu Kasi Viswanathar Temple on Thiruparankundram hill,” Annamalai, a former IPS officer, stated in the letter.

He alleged that the Minister was denied entry to the temple, with police personnel citing “orders from the high command” as the reason. Calling the incident a “blatant misuse of power”, Annamalai said that preventing a Union Minister and Member of Parliament from worshipping at a place of his choice was a violation of his fundamental rights.

He further raised concerns about the broader implications of the incident, questioning the ability of the police to provide security and protection to the general public. “If a Member of Parliament and a Union Minister can be treated in this manner, what does it say about the safety and rights of ordinary citizens in Tamil Nadu?” he asked.

The controversy surrounding Thiruparankundram Hill began when a group of Muslim individuals demanded permission for animal sacrifices — specifically goats and chickens — at the Sikandar Badusha Dargah located on the hill. The demand was met with strong opposition from Hindu organisations, leading to an official ban on animal sacrifice at the site. Tensions escalated further when Nawaz Kani, a Member of Parliament and the Tamil Nadu vice-president of the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), visited the hill. Kani, who is also the chairman of the state Waqf Board, allegedly consumed non-vegetarian food near the temple premises, sparking outrage among Hindu groups.

The controversy intensified after Kani shared a social media post showing people eating biryani near the foothills of the temple. Critics, including BJP president Annamalai, accused him of promoting activities that hurt Hindu religious sentiments. However, Kani denied the allegations, asserting that the food was vegetarian. Amid the growing unrest, concerns have also been raised about incidents of vandalism at ancient Jain caves in the area, as well as disputes over the administrative control of the hill.

Kani has reiterated claims that parts of the hill fall under the jurisdiction of the Tamil Nadu Waqf Board, a claim strongly contested by Hindu organisations, who assert its significance in Hindu traditions. As the Thirupparankandram issue has been slowly blowing up, on February 3 prohibitory orders were clamped and a large police posse was stationed there. As tensions continue to simmer, Annamalai’s letter to the DGP underscores growing political and religious discord over the site, with security concerns now taking centre stage.

More Evidence Of Hindi Being Taught At CBSE School Run By Anti-Hindi, Anti-NEP Part-Time Politician Vijay

The hypocrisy of actor and part-time politician C. Joseph Vijay has been exposed, as it has come to light that he operates a CBSE school in Chennai that adheres to the very three-language policy his party claims to oppose.

While his party vehemently opposes the three-language policy introduced through the National Education Policy (NEP), it has now come to light that Vijay himself runs a CBSE school in Chennai that follows the very policy he condemns.

Speaking to reporters at the BJP headquarters in Kamalalayam on 18 February 2025, Tamil Nadu BJP chief Annamalai emphasized the growing preference for private schools over government institutions. Annamalai also highlighted the case of Vijay, leader of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, who operates a private CBSE school in Padur called Vijay Vidyashram.

He said“TVK chief Vijay runs a CBSE school in Padur. It is called Vijay Vidyashram. See the name, C Joseph Vijay. Who is this C Joseph Vijay? His land has been leased for 35 years from 2017 to 2052 to a trust. The trust is registered under the name of SA Chandrasekhar and the school run by this trust is Vijay Vidyashram. What do some political leaders think – they run CBSE schools and Hindi is taught in these schools, and their own children learn French. Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi’s son is studying French. What do these politicians think when they say government school students should only study 2 languages – be it TVK leader Vijay or Seeman or TN’s Education Minister Anbil Mahesh? I am not delving into the DMK family-run Sunshine school.”

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by Kumudam News (@kumudamnews)

Here is some more evidence that the anti-Hindi, anti-NEP part-time politician Vijay has Hindi subject in his CBSE school.

Vijay Vidyashram, an English-medium CBSE school located in Padur near Chennai, follows the three-language policy.

A flyer seeking applications for teachers for Hindi and a few other subjects was shared on social media following his anti-Hindi and anti-NEP remarks. The flyer advertised vacancy for teachers for the subjects English, Maths, Hindi, Science, Computer Science, Social Studies, and PT.

Some videos of the students at the school have been circulating on social media. These are most likely from the school’s Instagram handle. In one such video is a Hindi play performed by Class 3 students.

This is from a performance for Hindi Diwas.

In another post, we find a picture of two students on the occasion of of Hindi Pariyojana Diwas.

The post caption reads, “Echo of Hindi tradition! We had a lively celebration of Hindi culture on our Project Day, where students showcased their talents through music, dance and art. We are grateful to have this opportunity to preserve and promote our cultural heritage!

The school literally celebrates Hindi language and conducts several programmes around the subject in conjuction with the prescribed NEP syllabus.

Vijay The Hypocrite

From opposing Hindi to NEP, Vijay has exposed his hypocrisy blatantly – do one thing and preach something else for the general public to gain political traction.

In CBSE schools of Tamil Nadu, students must study English as their primary language, while the second language can be selected from Hindi, French, German, or any other regional language offered in the state. In Chennai, most of the CBSE schools mandate a second language choice between Tamil, Hindi, or French. Additionally, a third language is also required until Class 8 (which is usually Hindi), after which students continue with only two languages. If Tamil is chosen as the second language from Classes 6 to 8, it continues as the second language through to Classes 9 and 10, while the same applies for Hindi if selected as the second language.

The land on which Vijay Vidyashram is built is owned by C. Joseph Vijay, as documented in the Sale Deed. He has leased the 10,724-square-meter property to the school. The Certificate of Land confirms that Vijay Vidyashram holds the land, and the lease agreement was made in favor of the school by Joseph Vijay.

The blatant hypocrisy of C. Joseph Vijay cannot be ignored. While he vocally criticizes the three-language policy and presents himself as a champion of Tamil, the inconvenient truth is that he runs a CBSE school in Chennai that directly follows the very policy he claims to oppose. His attempt to position himself as a defender of Tamil language rights crumbles in the face of this exposed contradiction.

“Equality Isn’t About Sleeping Around”: Sanam Shetty Blasts ‘Bad Girl’ Filmmakers For Misguided Feminism, Says Women Artists In Kollywood Are Not Called To Act But To Sleep With

Tamil actress and former Bigg Boss Tamil contestant Sanam Shetty has strongly condemned the propaganda film Bad Girl, calling it a ‘bad example’. The movie, produced by Dravidianist director Vetrimaaran and directed by Varsha Bharath, promotes a narrative that encourages young girls, especially minors, to rebel against their parents, engage in multiple relationships to explore their sexual lives, and indulge in drugs. The film also perpetuates negative character stereotypes, particularly portraying a “brahmin girl” in a distorted light.

Recently, actress Sanam Shetty has expressed her strong disapproval of the movie, criticizing it not only as a bad influence but also for highlighting the lack of equal opportunities for women in the industry. She pointed out that the film goes so far as to target schoolchildren but not look on their backyard in the cinema industry.

On 18 February 2025, Sanam Shetty took to her official X account to share her thoughts, stating that, “#BADGIRL Teaser is NOT a BOLD Example.. It’s a #BAD Example! #Freedom of choice and #GenderEquality concepts are wrongly portrayed in case of #Minors here! #Legally, #Ethically and even #Medically it sends a terribly #wrong message to the already influenceable adolescent children! Extremely disappointed with the so called Responsible Film Makers funding and supporting this Film. Do you agree with me?”

Speaking to reporters, she said, “Equality doesn’t mean sleeping with multiple people, smoking cigarettes or ganja. Equality means asking us with equal opportunities. If you ask whether there’s equal opportunity between men and women, the answer is no. Take our industry, for example. Are the salaries given to male and female actors the same? No. Is the way male and female actors are approached the same? No. I’m speaking from personal experience. When we think they call us to act in movies, instead they call us for sleeping with them. This is the approach. Equality is needed here and you should speak for this. If you’re suggesting schoolgirl to sleep with ten people, smoke cigarette, ganja and  consume alcohol what kind of thinking is that? Hair”

Previously from Kollywood industry, Director Mohan G Kshatriyan, known for his films like Bakasuran, Rudra Thandavam, and Draupathi. Slammed Pa Ranjith and the filmmakers for making such stale content, taking to his official X handle, film maker Mohan G Kshatriyan wrote a post on his X handle where he slammed the filmmakers, stating, Portraying a brahmin girl personal life is always a bold and refreshing film for this clan. What more can be expected from vetrimaran, Anurag kasyap & Co.. Bashing Brahmin father and mother is old and not trendy.. Try with your own caste girls and showcase it to your own family first.
