Hindu Munnani Alleges Christian Conversion Efforts At Tirunelveli Government Medical College Hospital, Calls For Legal Action

The Hindu Munnani has strongly condemned the Christian religious proselytization that happened at Tirunelveli Government Medical College Hospital, alleging attempts to convert patients by promoting the idea that “Jesus will cure your illness.

The Hindu rights group expressed concerns that such actions are not only breaching the trust in the institution but could also incite religious tensions in the area. They have called for legal action to be taken against those responsible for such activities within the hospital premises.

This condemnation comes after a Christian nun visited the hospital on 1 March 2025, where she was reportedly praying for patients in the fracture treatment unit and attempting to convert them. The Hindu Munnani condemned the lack of action from the administration to stop such proselytization attempts. They warned that if no action is taken, they would launch a campaign promoting Hinduism within the hospital to encourage the speedy recovery of patients.

In a social media post, the Hindu Munnani stated, “Christian Propaganda at Tirunelveli Government Medical College Hospital… Hindu Munnani strongly condemns. A Christian conversion campaign is currently ongoing at Tirunelveli Government Medical College Hospital. A few years ago, when a similar campaign took place, the medical college administration failed to act. When the Hindu Munnani attempted to propagate Hinduism, the hospital administration responded by putting up a notice stating that no preaching would be allowed within the premises. However, for the last few months after the change in the hospital dean, this notice has disappeared. Currently, Christian priests, nuns, and religious workers are regularly entering the hospital to preach to patients, claiming, ‘Jesus will cure your illness. Pray for Jesus, we are praying for you.’

The statement further added “On 01 March 2025 at 6 pm, a Christian nun prayed for conversion to the patients in the fracture treatment unit. This type of propaganda within the hospital that Jesus will save patients will not only create distrust in the medical profession and the doctors among the patients, but it also serves as a means to convert the poor, innocent Hindus seeking treatment. Moreover, it risks inciting religious conflict within the hospital and could lead to law and order issues. If the conversion campaign being carried out by Christians in the Tirunelveli Government Medical College Hospital is not stopped immediately, in the coming days the Hindu Munnani will go inside the Tirunelveli Government Medical College Hospital ward by ward and pray for the speedy recovery of the patients who are undergoing treatment there and will apply Vibhuti, Kumkum and sing devotional songs and pray for their speedy recovery of the patients. The Hindu Munnani requests the Tamil Nadu government and the Tirunelveli city police to take immediate action against the Dean of the Medical College, the resident doctor and the hospital security personnel who are watching the Tirunelveli Government Medical College Hospital becoming a tent for religious propaganda, and to stop the conversion campaign and protect the patients from religious conflict and law and order problems.”

“Medicine, Staff, And Tests Were Fake, Only Payment Was Real,” Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Slams Former Kejriwal Government For Fake Mohalla Clinics

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on 3 March 2025 hit out at the previous AAP government for making city hospitals sick and using ghost patients for misappropriating funds, while failing to fill vacancies of doctors and nurses. Concluding the discussion on Report of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India on Performance Audit on ‘Public Health Infrastructure & Management of Health services’, CM Gupta hit out at the Mohalla Clinic scheme of the AAP government saying, “Everything related to Mohalla Clinics was fake – medicine, staff and test – but only one thing was real and that was payment.”

The Opposition members walked out of the House as she enlisted failures of the AAP government and highlighted that 234 posts of duty medical officers are vacant, over 2,000 nursing posts are vacant and 2,796 posts of paramedic posts are vacant. She also hit out at wasteful expenditure under the AAP government, saying the godowns of the hospital are full of PPE kits, masks, oxygen cylinders and other equipment but are lying unused. “During Covid, one mask costing ₹10 was bought for ₹150 to swindle money,” she said, referring to the findings of the CAG report. CM Gupta slammed the mismanagement under the AAP government, saying that 24 hospital projects which were launched under the previous regime could not be completed. “Many of the projects’ costs have been doubled and till now these are far from complete,” she said.

Even Arvind Kejriwal also accepted his failure in delivering on promises, including cleaning the Yamuna and providing clean water. “I am happy that in the end Kejriwal ended up accepting his failures,” she said. CM Gupta said the Opposition members have been shaken by just the two CAG reports that have been tabled in the House. “They don’t have the courage to face the criticism,” she said. Earlier, Tilak Nagar legislator Jarnail Singh was ordered to be marshalled out of the House for disrupting CM Gupta’s address with slogan shouting.

Health Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh lamented the AAP government for not utilising fully the funds provided by the Centre during Covid. He read out a CAG observation which said, “Under Emergency Covid Response Plan, GNCTD received total funds of ₹787.91 crore (Lump sum amount of ₹24.67 crore, ₹292.22 crore in first phase and ₹471.02 crore in the second phase) from Government of India. Out of this, GNCTD utilised only ₹542.84 crore (November 2021).” “I feel sorry and ashamed to share the dark deeds of the previous government. It is painful to recall how a government indulged in such gross negligence,” he said. “In the coming days we will introduce a Hospital Information Management System (HIMS) under which a unique patient ID will be allotted each patient. The system will make treatment easy as all the information will be available online,” he said.

Highlighting shortcomings in the functioning of AAP government’s health department during Covid, procurement of substandard drugs, failure to give care to pregnant women, shortage of staff and underutilisation of dialysis machines, the Health Minister cited several paras from the CAG report during the discussion. Referring to a Delhi High Court’s direction, he said that the AAP government was supposed to start radiological diagnosis services from November 2024 but it failed to do so. “I want to assure the people that our government is committed to comply with the High Court order of war footing,” he said.

From A Job At DMK IT Wing To Working In Parliament, DMK Itself Shows Benefits Of Learning Hindi

Amid the ongoing row over opposition to Hindi, the DMK government, believing its old strategy would gain traction, tried to stir up sentiments against the central government, playing politics behind the scenes. However, this approach has backfired, as people have come to realize that learning languages, including Hindi as a third language, is essential for economic benefit.

Here are a few pointers given by the DMK itself which goes against its “principle” of anti-Hindi and offers us enough reason to learn Hindi.

Exhibit 1

In September 2023, the DMK IT Wing posted an advert that sought Hindi Content Writers despite the party’s strong opposition to “Hindi imposition.” The post on X invited applicants for roles like Content Writer (Tamil/English/Hindi), Data Analyst, and Social Media Manager. The post on social media platform X said,

“Hurry up brothers and sisters! More than 50 jobs like Content Writer (Tamil/English/Hindi), Data Analyst, Research Analyst, Fact Checker, Web Developer/ Designer, Social Media Influencer, Social Media Manager, News Media Manager are waiting for you. Siblings interested in applying click on the LINK provided, or scan the QR CODE!”

The job announcement at that time was seen as an attempt to counter the BJP’s strategy which has been exposing hate speeches of DMK leaders by subtitling them in Hindi and English.

Exhibit 2

After calling Hindi a curse and abusing the language left, right, and centre, the DMK which promoted a book on MK Stalin by a known offender Ra Sukumar, the admin of We Dravidians handle, the book titled “Why Do We Need MKS As PM Of India” was translated into Hindi for a wider audience. Talk about irony!

Exhibit 3

In this context, an old, undated video of DMK Water Resources Minister and Deputy General Secretary of the party, Durai Murugan, has resurfaced, where he mocks MPs who do not know Hindi or English while attending Parliament.

In the video, Durai Murugan humorously explains why politicians should be proficient in either Hindi or English. He stated, “One who knows to sing should perform at a concert. One who knows to dance must get on stage. One who knows to fight must go to wrestle. One who knows to speak should go to parliament and assembly. You need to know two languages to speak in the parliament. One is Hindi. You cannot blabber if you do not know, and the other is you should know English. If one goes there after winning without knowing either of this. Sir, see how massive they have built there are no pillars how is this possible? It was built by the British. Shall we go and have coffee? What are they talking in the parliament? Let them talk anything, let’s go. Are the proceedings going to stop without us? Pathetic. What more? Hello, how are you doing there? Are you yet to do the ploughing in the field? Is your mother ill? I’ll reach tomorrow. This is the MP who does not know Hindi/English. If one goes there (Parliament), he must know something.”

According to Duraimurugan, only if someone knows 2 languages other than Tamil, he/she is fit to even contest in an MP election!

‘Praising BJP Isn’t Nice’: Telangana Communist Cadre Threatens Journalist, Gets Roasted In Viral Call

A shocking incident has gone viral, where a communist party cadre made threatening phone calls to a YouTube news women journalist ‘Navatha’ for praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The journalist’s recent coverage, which portrayed Modi and the BJP in a positive light, upset the communist cadre, who expressed their displeasure by calling and telling her that her praise “wasn’t nice.” The caller also threatened to visit both her office and home. The journalist, in response, recorded the entire conversation and shared it on her channel, “R-Voice,” where it quickly went viral.

The communist cadre immediately called the journalist and said, “What you said on your channel is not nice.” The journalist, confused, responded, “What did I say?” He replied, “If you want to praise Pawan Kalyan, you can, but…” She interrupted, asking, “Is it because of Chandrababu Naidu?” He replied, “You can even praise Chandrababu Naidu.” She followed up, “Is it about Jagan Reddy?” He said, “I don’t have a problem with any of them.” She then asked, “So what’s it about?” He responded, “I’m saying this because you are praising the BJP, that’s why I’m saying this.” She questioned, “Did you watch it?” He replied, “Yes, I just saw it on your channel now.”

The journalist clarified that she was not praising the BJP, but the cadre kept insisting that she was. She then asked him to point out exactly where she had praised the BJP. Frustrated with her response, the communist cadre, who seemed to be annoyed that the journalist wasn’t intimidated by the call, started threatening her, saying, “Tomorrow they are coming there. The communist members from Hyderabad, those boys, are coming to your channel tomorrow.

The journalist fired back, “Oh, are the CPM guys threatening me now? I’ll share this on my channel, that CPM members are coming to threaten me. I’ll even put your number up and file a police complaint. Tell me your name and where you’re calling from.” The cadre then asked, “Why are you praising the BJP?” To which she responded, “Why is that your problem?”

The communist cadre who called the journalist expressed that he was upset because she was praising what he referred to as “looters,” and he was irritated by her praise for them. The journalist quickly responded, stating that she didn’t run her channel to please anyone. After a while, growing frustrated, she challenged the communist cadre, asking what his party had done for students, auto unions, and other groups. In response, he attempted to defend the usual narrative, bringing up issues from the past. The journalist sharply fired back, saying, “Don’t bring up the old days when my grandfather was alive—talk about what’s happening now.”

The communist cadre was thoroughly roasted during the phone call by the journalist, and the conversation quickly went viral on social media.

Dreaded Maoist Surrenders With Family In Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur

Left-Wing Extremism Saw Significant Decline In 2024 As India Set Sights On Eradication By 2026 chhattisgarh maoist ceasefire

In a major success to the government’s ongoing anti-naxal operation, Dinesh Modium, a Naxal commander with a Rs 8 lakh bounty on his head, reportedly surrendered to security forces along with his wife and children.

His surrender is seen as a significant blow to the Naxalites’ Gangaloor Area Committee. According to reports, Dinesh Modium, who was wanted for over 100 murders and numerous attacks, surrendered under increasing pressure from security forces. Home Minister Amit Shah has set a target to make Chhattisgarh Naxal-free by March 31, 2026.

Security forces have been conducting operations to apprehend Naxalites, leading to several arrests and seizures of banned materials. Dinesh Modium, a resident of Pedda Karma in Bijapur, Chhattisgarh, served as both a Gangaloor Area Committee and Divisional Committee member. He surrendered due to the growing pressure from security forces.

Earlier on Friday seven Naxals; with a combined bounty of Rs 3,200,000, including a Naxal couple involved in the Tekalguda Naxal attack of 2021, which claimed the lives of 22 army personnel, surrendered.

Additionally, security forces arrested 18 Naxals on Friday and recovered Naxal materials from Masoor, Bhairamgarh, and Basaguda, as well as 10 other Naxals from the Gunjeparti forest areas of Chhattisgarh.

The Surrender-cum-Rehabilitation policy is part of the overall strategy to build consensus and evolve a peaceful solution to the violence perpetrated by extremist groups, to usher in peace and development, especially in the disturbed regions.

This policy has been developed by the Central Government, considering the specific geographical and social landscape, to help Maoists who want to renounce violence, surrender, and join the mainstream.

The Surrender and Rehabilitation policy is part of multi-pronged conflict management and resolution strategy and is implemented alongside firm police action against those who continue to follow the path of violence.

The Madhya Pradesh Naxalite Surrender Rehabilitation cum Relief Policy has been effective since 2023.

‘Don’t Wait, Have Babies Now’, Says TN CM Stalin To Counter Delimitation ‘Threat’

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has raised concerns over the potential impact of population-based delimitation, urging residents to prioritize childbirth to safeguard the state’s political representation. He warned that Tamil Nadu could lose up to eight parliamentary seats if delimitation is carried out based on census figures.

Addressing the issue, Stalin stressed that the state’s once-successful family planning policies had now put it at a disadvantage.“Earlier we used to say, take your time and have a baby. But now the situation has changed, and we should say it now,” he remarked. “So, I won’t say take your time, but immediately have your baby,” he said. Speaking at a DMK district secretary’s wedding in Nagapattinam, he humorously suggested that newlyweds should plan families quickly and give their children “good Tamil names.”

To strategize against delimitation, Stalin has convened an all-party meeting on March 5, inviting 40 political parties to discuss the matter. While urging unity across party lines, he also appealed to the BJP to participate, emphasizing that this issue concerns the entire state, not just the DMK.

Home Minister Amit Shah has refuted Stalin’s claims, assuring that no southern state would lose Lok Sabha seats due to delimitation. BJP spokesperson CR Keshavan accused the DMK of using the issue as a “desperate and dishonest diversionary drama” to distract from governance failures. He also challenged the DMK to question Rahul Gandhi’s “Jitni Abadi, Utna Haq” stance, which advocates for political power proportional to population.

The delimitation debate has gained traction across South India. Andhra Pradesh CM N. Chandrababu Naidu had previously voiced concerns over declining fertility rates, warning of an ageing population and the need for incentives to encourage larger families.
Stalin maintains that Tamil Nadu’s commitment to population control and its economic contributions should not be penalized. He likened the looming delimitation process to a “sword dangling over Tamil Nadu” and vowed to resist any move that diminishes the state’s representation in Parliament.

Taxpayer-Funded DMK Govt’s Fact Check Unit Fact-Checked By Netizens For Spreading Misinformation About Tamil Compulsory In TN Schools

The Tamil Nadu government’s official “fact-check unit,” TN Fact Check, has once again come under scrutiny for spreading misinformation at the taxpayers’ expense. This time, the state fact-checker used the excuse of the act to deflect criticism directed at the ruling DMK. The criticism centers on the allegation that DMK leader running schools are neglecting the implementation of compulsory Tamil in the state, while schools continue to use English as the primary language, with Tamil, Hindi, or French as second language options. However, the TN Fact Check unit shamelessly countered this by citing the act as proof that Tamil is indeed compulsory in the state.

On 28 February 2025, TN Fact Check, via its official X account, stated, “A false claim is being spread that the Tamil Nadu government has not made Tamil a compulsory subject! A video circulating on social media features a person on a private television channel stating, ‘Tamil has not been made a compulsory subject in schools in Tamil Nadu.’ This is completely false. The truth is that the ‘Tamil Nadu Tamil Learning Act’ was passed by the Tamil Nadu government in 2006. The act mandates that Tamil be taught as a compulsory subject in all schools from classes 1 to 10. This was first implemented in class 1 during the 2015-2016 academic year and has been progressively applied in subsequent classes. In the 2024-2025 academic year, the School Education Department issued a circular confirming that Tamil will be compulsory in all private schools, including CBSE and ICSE, up to class 10.”

In response to the TN Fact Check unit’s claim, individual posted evidence showing that a school run by a DMK leader uses English as the primary language, with Tamil offered only as an optional subject, alongside choices like Hindi and French. This sparked a debate on social media, with netizens mocking the TN Fact Check unit for spreading fake news that seems to favor the DMK government at the expense of taxpayers’ money.

Tirunelveli Youth’s Mortal Remains Repatriated From Jamaica After 3 Months Thanks To TN BJP Chief Annamalai’s Efforts

The body of Vignesh, a young man from Tirunelveli who was tragically killed in a supermarket shooting in Jamaica last December, is finally being repatriated after three months, thanks to the efforts of BJP state president Annamalai. It was initially said that it would cost 25 lakh rupees to transport Vignesh’s body back to his hometown, but former Tirunelveli mayor Bhuvaneswari reached out to Annamalai for help. In response, Annamalai contacted the Indian Embassy in Jamaica and coordinated with the Central Government’s ICW funds to facilitate the repatriation of Vignesh’s body.

Vignesh Nagarajan, a 31-year-old from Meenakshipuram near Tirunelveli, was shot and killed in December 2024 during a robbery at the supermarket where he worked on an island in Jamaica. His relatives, including his brother-in-law Mohan, appealed to the District Collector Dr. K.P. Karthikeyan to assist in bringing Vignesh’s body back to India.

Mohan shared, “I received a call at 7 am from Amirtharaj, who runs a supermarket in Jamaica. He informed me that robbers attempted to rob the supermarket and opened fire at 1 am IST, killing Vignesh instantly. Two others from Tamil Nadu were also seriously injured. We request the state government’s help in bringing Vignesh’s body home.”

In response, Tamil Nadu BJP President K. Annamalai utilized the Ministry of External Affairs’ assistance and worked with the Indian Embassy in Jamaica to arrange the return of Vignesh’s body, with the expenses covered through the Central Government’s ICW funds.
