“I Was Shivering Holding Article 370 Documents”, Says Actor Priyamani On PM Modi’s Historic, Strategic, & Bloodless Move

National award-winning actress Priyamani, known for her role in the Bollywood film Article 370 released on 23 February 2024, recently spoke about her unforgettable moments during the film’s production. In an interview, she shared how she was overwhelmed when she handled the documents related to the abrogation of Article 370, expressing that it gave her goosebumps. She praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying, “I was literally shivering when I held the documents related to the Article 370 abrogation! I realized how skillfully PM Modi carried out such a historic move without shedding a drop of blood.”

Priyamani also discussed the controversies surrounding the film, with some labeling it as propaganda. “We still face such accusations, but it’s alright,” she said. “At the end of the day, we are incredibly proud that a woman-led film ran for 100 days — what more could we ask for?” She added that receiving recognition from the Prime Minister himself was a great honor and reiterated her belief in the film’s quality.

Although there were initial doubts before its release, Priyamani noted that after watching it, audiences’ perceptions shifted. She attributed this to the fact that the film told the truth, despite some creative liberties. “The character played by Yami Gautam was based on a real officer, though for security reasons, we couldn’t reveal her identity. My character represented the PMO, not a single individual but possibly an entire team. Every aspect of the portrayal was carefully reviewed with the PMO’s involvement.”

Reflecting on her preparation for the role, Priyamani explained that she learned a lot about the history of the Article 370 abrogation during filming. She emphasized that many citizens were distracted by less significant matters at the time of the event, failing to understand the true significance and the fact that the move was executed peacefully, without any loss of life. “The way our honorable Prime Minister orchestrated the abrogation was incredibly strategic and smart. I received not only a history lesson on the event but also on how the PMO functions,” she said.

Priyamani recalled the intense moment when she first saw the original official orders related to the abrogation.  “The main reason why it was abrogated and the way they went about abrogating it, I think that was the most important thing. Because when such things happen, there is generally a loss of life, but when this article was abrogated, not even a single life was lost. That was the actual truth. Not a single life was lost without a single drop of blood. And for all that, very smartly and cleverly, our honorable PM went about abrogating the article and everything. In this, what I got from the history lesson is that it has happened in the PMO. When we got the copy, which was not the original copy of the order, but when we got the copy of the original order my hands trembled and I was like, ‘Really, are you actually saying that such a thing happened and it was actually there'”

When asked if she had kept a copy of the order at home, she laughed and said no but mentioned that she might request one. She also shared a special moment when she received a letter from the Home Minister’s office last year, acknowledging her work on the film. “Receiving an official letter with the Indian emblem filled me with immense pride,” she said. Along with the letter, she was gifted a copy of the Ramayana in the form of stamps, which she found incredible.

Lastly, Priyamani expressed her gratitude for the recognition from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, calling it an extraordinary moment for everyone involved in the film.

Jaiswal has filed his nomination for the post and is expected to take charge officially later in the day. His nomination papers were submitted on Monday in front of the Election Officer and the BJP State General Secretary Rajesh Verma.

His proposers included Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, Deputy CM Vijay Kumar Sinha, Minister Mangal Pandey, and Legislative Councillor Sanjay Mayukh. Notably, no other candidates filed nominations, making his appointment a certainty. Union Energy Minister Manohar Lal Khattar is the chief observer of the event.

Besides him, Bihar BJP in-Charge Vinod Tawde, Co-in-Charge Deepak Prakash, Ministers from Bihar and the Central government, BJP state officials and district presidents, block presidents and others will attend the meeting. “Return Of POJK Possible Only Under Modi Government”, Says Dr. Jitendra Singh At POJK Sankalp Diwas Event

Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh made a strong statement at the POJK Sankalp Diwas program, asserting that the return of Pakistan-Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (POJK) to India is only possible under the Modi government. The event, organized by the Jammu Kashmir People’s Forum and Mirpur POJK Balidan Samiti, was held at the Indian Society of International Law auditorium in the national capital.

Dr. Singh criticized India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, blaming his policies for the loss of POJK. Pakistan-Occupied Jammu Kashmir is the biggest failure in Indian history and a result of Nehru’s flawed foreign policy. His misplaced belief in peace led to multiple mistakes, the consequences of which India still suffers today,he said.

The minister emphasized that India’s partition was a historical blunder driven by the ambitions of Nehru and Jinnah. He also recalled how the Indian Army had successfully advanced into POJK before Nehru declared a ceasefire, leading to its continued occupation by Pakistan. If Nehru had not halted the army and had not taken the matter to the UN, POJK would have been completely integrated with India,Dr. Singh added.

He reiterated that POJK, along with Pakistan-Occupied Territories of Ladakh (POTL) and China-Occupied Territories of Ladakh (COTL), remains an integral part of India. The Modi government is committed to liberating these regions. I won’t predict a timeline, but I assure you that the return of POJK is only possible under the BJP-led government, he said.

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta Echoes Commitment

Solicitor General of India, Tushar Mehta, who also attended the event, underscored the Modi government’s determination to reclaim POJK. He cited the successful abrogation of Article 370 as proof of the government’s resolve, stating, Many believed Article 370 could never be removed, but the Modi government achieved it. Today, no political party dares to propose its reinstatement.”

Mehta referred to Home Minister Amit Shah’s statement in Parliament that POJK was, is, and will always be part of India, asserting that the current government is the only one capable of achieving its return. He also highlighted Pakistan’s economic crisis and deteriorating conditions in POJK, saying, There is no flour to eat, unemployment is at 35%, and people there now want to join India. The day is not far when a movement will arise from within POJK itself.”

The Solicitor General called for an immediate change in terminology, urging people to reject Pakistan’s termAzad Kashmirand instead refer to it as POJK.We must start by correcting platforms like Wikipedia, which use Pakistan’s misleading terminology. POJK is an integral part of India, and that should be reflected everywhere, he stated.

India’s Resolution On Occupied Territories

The event also revisited India’s long-standing commitment to reclaiming occupied territories. At the time of independence in 1947, Jammu and Kashmir covered 2,22,236 square kilometers, including Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, and Gilgit. Today, 54.4% of that land—approximately 1.21 lakh sq km—remains under illegal occupation by Pakistan and China.

Maharaja Hari Singh had signed the Instrument of Accession to India on 26 October 1947, after Pakistan’s invasion. Despite India’s military success in repelling Pakistani forces, a ceasefire was declared on 1 January 1949, under UN pressure, allowing Pakistan to retain control over a large portion of the region. Similarly, in 1962, China occupied 37,000 sq km of Ladakh, and in 1963, Pakistan ceded an additional 5,180 sq km of the Shaksgam Valley to China.

The Forgotten Massacres Of 1947

The event also shed light on the atrocities committed during Pakistan’s invasion of Jammu and Kashmir in 1947. Several massacres targeting Hindus and Sikhs were recounted, including:

  • Muzaffarabad Massacre (October 1947): 4,500-5,000 Hindus and Sikhs were killed, and over 1,600 women were abducted.
  • Mirpur Massacre (October 24-25, 1947): Over 20,000 Hindu-Sikhs were killed, and more than 3,500 were taken hostage, with many women sold in markets in Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Arabia.
  • Kotli & Bhimber Massacres: Thousands were killed, and women were abducted and brutally assaulted.
  • Rajouri Massacre (November 1947): Pakistani forces killed at least 30,000 Hindus and Sikhs.
  • Baramulla Massacre (October-November 1947): Pakistani troops looted, burned villages, raped, and murdered civilians.

Lakhs of Hindu and Sikh refugees were displaced, many of whom continue to struggle in various parts of India.

Call For A National Movement

The Jammu Kashmir People’s Forum and Mirpur POJK Balidan Samiti called for a nationwide movement to reclaim POJK, POTL, and COTL. The groups urged citizens to foster nationalist consciousness and push for diplomatic and military efforts to restore India’s territorial integrity.

The event concluded with a reminder of India’s parliamentary resolution passed on 22 February 1994, which reaffirmed that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India and called upon Pakistan to vacate occupied territories. India will resist any conspiracy against its unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, and any interference in its internal affairs will be strongly opposed, the resolution states.

With strong statements from government leaders and legal experts, the POJK Sankalp Diwas program underscored the Modi administration’s firm stance on reclaiming lost territories and reuniting POJK with India.

Communist Pinarayi Vijayan Loses His Cool When Called ‘Mr Chief Minister’ In Kerala Assembly

pinarayi vijayan iran us

The floor of the Kerala Assembly on Monday witnessed an angry exchange of words between Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Ramesh Chennithala, veteran Congress legislator, a former home minister and leader of opposition.

Soon after question hour, the seasoned Congress MLA sought leave for an adjournment motion to discuss the burning issue of the increase in the use and trading of drugs in Kerala, besides the increasing violence among the student community.

As he moved his leave for the adjournment motion, Chennithala, in his speech, used the words ‘Mr Chief Minister’ a few times and slammed CM Vijayan for being unable to tackle this grave issue through effective policing.

This irked CM Vijayan. Continuing to slam the CM, Chennithala then pointed to incidents like the recent suicide of Kannur ADM Naveen Babu and the controversial granting of parole to the accused ( CPI(M) activists) in the T.P. Chandrasekharan murder case. “Mr Chief Minister, what’s happening in our state?” asked Chennithala.

CM Vijayan known for his tough demeanor, lost his cool as Chennithala continued to repeat the words ‘Mr. Chief Minister’. The CM stood up and said, “There is no need to address Mr Chief Minister alone all the time, instead, you should understand what’s happening in our state.”

Seeing CM Vijayan fuming, Leader of Opposition V.D. Satheesan got up and said to him, “You are the Chief Minister and also the Home Minister, and we will criticize. Why are you so intolerant of being criticized? We are sitting here not to speak what you want to hear. Moreover, addressing you as Mr Chief Minister is not wrong,” said Satheesan.

Chennithala pointed out that there was nothing wrong with using the terminology Mr Chief Minister, as it’s not an unparliamentary expression.

During the first term of CM Vijayan (2016-21), Chennithala was the leader of opposition, and during then, also there were a few times when both of them entered heated discussions and in his second term — 2021 onwards, Satheesan became the LoP and has been keeping CM Vijayan on tenterhooks.

Incidentally, CM Vijayan is the unquestionable leader both in the government and in the ruling Left Democratic Front, and over the years, there has not been a single voice of dissent against him, especially within his party or coalition.

It is only on the floor of the Assembly that he faces a direct attack from the opposition, and like in the past many times, he often loses his cool, as was seen on Monday.

DMK’s Dravidian Model: Hindi – Not Okay, Urdu – Okay

Dravidian Model: Cry Foul About Imaginary Hindi Imposition, Embrace Urdu Imposition

The ruling DMK government has long opposed the third language policy, advocating for a two-language system, with Tamil and English, a strategy rooted in the Dravidianist ideology that dates back to the 1930s. However, the question arises: does the DMK, which led anti-Hindi agitations and fought against the imposition of Hindi as a third language, still remain committed to this goal? The situation seems hypocritical and contradictory when we consider the same DMK which opposes the Hindi permits the operation of 270-280 Urdu medium schools across the state.

Why the move is hypocritical is because, according to DMK leaders and Dravidian sympathizers, Hindi is seen as a threat to the Tamil language, with the fear that their presence would erode the language. This narrative has been propagated for years, leading to the view that promoting language like Hindi would impose foreign languages on the Tamil people. However, this stance becomes redundant when considering the status of Urdu, a language with vocabulary rooted in Sanskrit and Prakrit and shares origins with Hindi. Similarly, Urdu is often referred to as a ‘sister’ language due to its similar grammatical structures.

This raises several crucial questions: how can Dravidian leaders justify this contradiction? And does the DMK believe that only Muslims in the state should have the right to use and practice a language closely tied to Hindi, while others are excluded from this linguistic freedom?

Let’s break this down step by step. The DMK has long stirred up language-based tensions by fueling animosity toward languages like Hindi, framing it as a threat to Tamil. On the other hand, the party is also appeasing minorities by providing them with the opportunity to learn Urdu, a language predominantly spoken in northern India, thereby exposing its duplicity.

Urdu Medium Schools

According to the 2015 data from the Department of Unified District Information System for Education (UDISE), Tamil Nadu has 280 Urdu medium schools, of which 214 are privately run. Additionally, the Chairman of the Tamil Nadu State Urdu Academy has stated that over 270 Urdu-medium schools in the state offer instruction in all subjects up to Grade XII. However, there remains a lack of clarity, as the Tamil Nadu government has yet to officially acknowledge the exact number of Urdu medium schools operating in the state, nor has it specified how many of them are fully or partially funded by the state.

Exemption For Urdu-speaking Students From Learning Tamil As language

In 2015, during the Namakku Naame campaign, M.K. Stalin promised that if the DMK came to power, they would make Urdu compulsory in schools.

Then, in 2019, Urdu linguistic minority students requested the state government to grant them an exemption from learning Tamil as a compulsory language. Members of the Urdu Protection Committee Tamil Nadu Trust, from Vaniyambadi, met with Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami and submitted a memorandum, asking for the reinstatement of a rule that was in place until 2006. This rule allowed Urdu-speaking students to be exempt from learning Tamil and instead study their mother tongue, Urdu, from Class I to X.

In 2023, Tamil Nadu’s School Education Minister, Anbil Mahesh, gave an interview stating that steps would be taken to exempt Muslim students studying Urdu from learning Tamil. This statement was met with strong criticism from opposition parties. However, the Supreme Court of India has upheld Tamil as a mandatory subject in Tamil Nadu schools while allowing students from linguistic minority groups to opt for their mother tongue as an alternative. The court emphasized that students should have the option to study their native language and receive marks comparable to other subjects. Accordingly, non-Tamil mother tongue paper was introduced as an optional paper.

Tamil Nadu State Urdu Academy

In a glaring example of hypocrisy, the same DMK government that has long opposed Hindi and other languages, established the Tamil Nadu State Urdu Academy (TNUA) in 2000 under the leadership of Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi. The objective of the Academy is to promote Urdu language and literature in Tamil Nadu, as well as to encourage Urdu scholars, poets, and students.

Since its inception, the Tamil Nadu State Urdu Academy has organized events in collaboration with the University of Madras (Department of Urdu, Arabic, and Persian) to support Urdu students, scholars, and poets. The Academy has awarded certificates, prizes, and accolades to Urdu language enthusiasts and has hosted numerous seminars and functions. In addition, the Academy has organized several Urdu Mushaires (Urdu debates and poetry sessions) in celebration of national holidays like Republic Day and Independence Day. During these events, prominent Urdu poets and scholars have been invited to perform and receive recognition for their contributions. Furthermore, the Tamil Nadu State Urdu Academy has successfully facilitated the translation of 11th and 12th-grade textbooks from English into Urdu.

The DMK’s Dravidian Model of language politics is truly a masterpiece in selective outrage. While they wage war against Hindi, painting it as a mortal threat to Tamil identity, they roll out the red carpet for Urdu This selective outrage suggests that the DMK’s language policies are less about preserving Tamil and more about political appeasement.

BJP Leader Madhavi Latha Speaks To The Commune On Being Labelled As “Communal, Misogynistic And Patriarchal”

Most of us outside Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have only seen the firebrand BJP leader Kompella Madhavi Latha through television appearances and her viral videos on social media. In our minds, she embodies a divine femininity—graceful, strong, and deeply rooted in tradition. Meeting her in person only reinforced this image.

With flowers adorning her neatly tied hair bun, a bright red bindi on her forehead, traditional religious markings, a sparkling nose ring, and a richly woven saree, she embodied the essence of a quintessential Telugu gruhini. Draped in a saffron shawl over her shoulders, she was every bit the Madhavi Latha we have seen on screen.

Madhavi Latha, both on and off screen, remains the same—grounded, articulate, and deeply spiritual. As we spoke with her, it became evident that she is not only well-read but also deeply connected to her cultural roots. She effortlessly chanted slokas and shared insights with a calm, unwavering demeanor. Her daily puja rituals are a non-negotiable part of her routine, performed with devotion and without a hint of reluctance.

During the brief time we spent with her, we managed to touch upon a few important topics, each conversation revealing her depth of knowledge and unwavering commitment to her beliefs. Madhavi Latha is not just a political leader; she is a symbol of tradition, strength, and intellect, seamlessly blending modernity with timeless values.

The Commune: You’ve been described as “communal, misogynistic, patriarchal” by the leftist media. How do you respond to these characterizations?

Madhavi Latha: I would ask who has ever tried to do good for society and been spared from such negative comments? Even the lotus comes from the mud. If someone claims I’m patriarchal or communal/Islamophobic or misogynistic, let me respond with facts.

I have facilitated 1,008 free normal deliveries for women in need. This inspiration came to me when I was reciting the 1,008 names of the Mother Goddess. The Sahasranama itself begins with “Sri Mata” – Mother was sending me a message that Mata, motherhood comes first. Even in Telangana, pregnancy wasn’t included in the state health scheme until recently. I decided to help women by providing free normal deliveries with pre and post-natal support. Interestingly, 70-75% of the women who availed this service were Muslim.

As for being misogynistic, my spiritual practice begins with honoring the Mother Goddess. My charitable work has always focused on women and girls. I prioritize supporting the girl child, then boys – not because I discriminate, but because I feel a special connection to girls’ needs.

The Commune: What was your thought process when you realized you weren’t winning your seat?

Madhavi Latha: What defines winning and losing? If you and I take an exam, and you use a book while I rely on what I’ve learned, you might get a gold medal. But what really matters? For me, winning isn’t the criterion. What’s important is whether I revealed truths that the public needed to know.

I exposed bogus voting and booth capturing. I revealed how the Telangana government aligned with people of problematic ideology. I highlighted how brutally women within certain communities are being neglected. I’ve shown how elections, meant to be a sacred democratic process, are being misused.

Winning and losing have different definitions for me. I didn’t enter politics for personal gain but to contribute something positive.

The Commune: You visited some challenging areas with difficult demographics. Where did you draw your courage to go to such places?

Madhavi Latha: For me, those people are my people. I embody motherhood, and whoever is an authentic, legal citizen of Bharat Mata is my sibling or my child. It doesn’t matter which religion or community they belong to. I only object to illegal immigrants, not legitimate Indian citizens.

When I visited Muslim-populated areas, they showed me tremendous love – especially economically disadvantaged Muslims. They love me because I’m concerned with whether true Indian Muslims are getting their rights or if outsiders are taking what belongs to them. The MIM has ruled these areas for 50 years without lifting their own community from poverty, while in 10 years, Modi ji has elevated India’s economic standards significantly.

In my own political team, I have 50% Muslims and 50% Hindus working with me. Abbas Bhai, an elderly Muslim man, sis my guide and helping hand.

The Commune: You are a multi-faceted and multi-talented person. You perform your daily Poojas without fail, you were an NCC cadet, you’re an entrepreneur, you are multilingual. In fact, we were surprised to hear that you can read and write Tamil and speak Hindi as well as your mother tongue Telugu and Urdu with ease. What other languages do you know, and what are some other facts we don’t know about you?

Madhavi Latha: I love Tamil and Kannada, as my father’s family speaks Kannada fluently. Hindi connects our entire country, though it’s not officially declared a national language. We learn English not because we surrender to it, but as a medium to communicate beyond our state.

I even speak Urdu and love languages in general. Languages are beautiful, like natural resources – mountains, rivers. If given the opportunity, I would love to learn many more languages, but I can manage with Tamil and Kannada well enough to find my way.

The Commune: How do you view the language politics currently playing out in Tamil Nadu?

Madhavi Latha: Unfortunately, the Tamil Nadu government should focus on more pressing issues. I’m disappointed their thinking is so limited. Most Tamilians, including skilled workers, speak English – did that stop them from speaking Tamil?

I speak Telugu – did I stop speaking it? Did Biharis stop speaking Bhojpuri? Did Assamese stop speaking Assamese? Did Gujaratis or Maharashtrians abandon their languages? People’s representatives should use common sense. Instead of fixating on Hindi, address the rape case at Tamil University. Help children of drivers and laborers access good schools.

As elected officials with a five-year mandate, they should understand how precious that time is and the value of people’s votes. We’ve invested five years of potential development in these representatives, and they’re focusing on such trivial matters. What difference does it make? Learning another language only expands your horizons – you read more newspapers, watch more channels and movies. Did they stop Hindi movies from coming to Tamil Nadu? They need better intellectual advisors.

Hindu Munnani Alleges Christian Conversion Efforts At Tirunelveli Government Medical College Hospital, Calls For Legal Action

The Hindu Munnani has strongly condemned the Christian religious proselytization that happened at Tirunelveli Government Medical College Hospital, alleging attempts to convert patients by promoting the idea that “Jesus will cure your illness.

The Hindu rights group expressed concerns that such actions are not only breaching the trust in the institution but could also incite religious tensions in the area. They have called for legal action to be taken against those responsible for such activities within the hospital premises.

This condemnation comes after a Christian nun visited the hospital on 1 March 2025, where she was reportedly praying for patients in the fracture treatment unit and attempting to convert them. The Hindu Munnani condemned the lack of action from the administration to stop such proselytization attempts. They warned that if no action is taken, they would launch a campaign promoting Hinduism within the hospital to encourage the speedy recovery of patients.

In a social media post, the Hindu Munnani stated, “Christian Propaganda at Tirunelveli Government Medical College Hospital… Hindu Munnani strongly condemns. A Christian conversion campaign is currently ongoing at Tirunelveli Government Medical College Hospital. A few years ago, when a similar campaign took place, the medical college administration failed to act. When the Hindu Munnani attempted to propagate Hinduism, the hospital administration responded by putting up a notice stating that no preaching would be allowed within the premises. However, for the last few months after the change in the hospital dean, this notice has disappeared. Currently, Christian priests, nuns, and religious workers are regularly entering the hospital to preach to patients, claiming, ‘Jesus will cure your illness. Pray for Jesus, we are praying for you.’

The statement further added “On 01 March 2025 at 6 pm, a Christian nun prayed for conversion to the patients in the fracture treatment unit. This type of propaganda within the hospital that Jesus will save patients will not only create distrust in the medical profession and the doctors among the patients, but it also serves as a means to convert the poor, innocent Hindus seeking treatment. Moreover, it risks inciting religious conflict within the hospital and could lead to law and order issues. If the conversion campaign being carried out by Christians in the Tirunelveli Government Medical College Hospital is not stopped immediately, in the coming days the Hindu Munnani will go inside the Tirunelveli Government Medical College Hospital ward by ward and pray for the speedy recovery of the patients who are undergoing treatment there and will apply Vibhuti, Kumkum and sing devotional songs and pray for their speedy recovery of the patients. The Hindu Munnani requests the Tamil Nadu government and the Tirunelveli city police to take immediate action against the Dean of the Medical College, the resident doctor and the hospital security personnel who are watching the Tirunelveli Government Medical College Hospital becoming a tent for religious propaganda, and to stop the conversion campaign and protect the patients from religious conflict and law and order problems.”
