Congress Leader & Rahul Gandhi’s Advisor Praveen Chakravarty Caught Red-Handed; Media Houses Release Call Records, Audio After He Denies Reports Of Him Meeting TVK Vijay As Fake News

In a dramatic escalation of a public dispute, Congress data strategist Praveen Chakravarty publicly accused two media outlets, ThePrint and Kumudam Reporter, of publishing “100% fake” interviews attributed to him. Both organisations swiftly countered his claims, releasing call logs and, in Kumudam’s case, an audio clip to assert that the conversations did take place.

The controversy began when ThePrint published an article on 8 December detailing Chakravarty’s meeting with Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) leader Vijay.

Following the publication, Chakravarty took to X, denying he had spoken to the reporter and dismissing quotations attributed to him as fabricated.

ThePrint responded that the claim was “false and unfounded”, saying its reporter had spoken to Chakravarty for four minutes on 7 December at 1.10 PM, followed by a WhatsApp exchange. The organisation also released a screenshot of the call log, stating that accuracy and fairness were maintained in the report.

Chakravarty countered the rebuttal, asserting that the only interaction at the stated time was a missed call from an unknown number and that no WhatsApp messages were exchanged. He added that he was prepared to furnish phone records in court if necessary.

Following this, Chakravarthy shared images of his interview with Kumudam Reporter, calling them ‘100% fake news’.

Subsequently Tamil weekly Kumudam Reporter responded to this allegation and defended its own article on Chakravarty. The publication said its reporter had contacted him on 5 December 2025 at 5.40 PM. and that Chakravarty had asked the journalist to “join a WhatsApp call”. The outlet also shared the audio recording of Chakravarty inviting the reporter to continue the conversation on WhatsApp.

According to Kumudam Reporter, Chakravarty never denied meeting Vijay and also had allegedly said that he did not need Rahul Gandhi’s permission to meet the TVK leader.

In its detailed rebuttal, the magazine questioned how Chakravarty could dismiss the report as “100% fake” despite audio evidence showing he had agreed to speak. The outlet also said that political pressures following his meeting with Vijay could explain his public denial, but argued that blaming the media was “unfair”.

They wrote, “…he said, ‘I do not need to meet a party leader without Rahul Gandhi’s permission. TVK leader Vijay spoke to Rahul Gandhi on my phone.’ Now since this was said to us on a WhatsApp call, it could not be recorded. He said, ‘Brother, let us do a WhatsApp call’ (we have the audio of it) – how can he deny that he did not speak to the Kumudam reporter? Generally, people in high positions of political parties say certain things only on WhatsApp calls. Then, when they say certain things off the record, they tell reporters whether they can publish it or not. The media does not publish them on the basis of source and trust. Or if requested, they will publish them on the basis of authenticity. However, during the above WhatsApp call conversation with Praveen Chakravarthy, our only intention was to ask, ‘Did you meet and speak to Vijay?’ The person who answered said, ‘Do not publish this’ and did not say anything. Based on that, we published this article. Moreover, the above article did not mention anything wrong about Praveen Chakravarthy. Despite all this, while he has never denied meeting Vijay, Praveen Chakravarthy says that ‘meeting Vijay is not a crime’. In such a situation, if he denies our article as 100% fake news, then we need to clarify whether he is calling what he said to us on the call was fake, or whether he is calling the fact that he met Vijay on the advice of Rahul Gandhi fake. Mr. Praveen Chakravarthy, I can understand the political pressures that have come upon you after meeting Vijay. You should face them honestly, but how is it fair to blame the media?”

A High Court Judge Gives Hindus Their Right, Defying The Dravidianist Establishment, And ‘Secular’ Parties Want Him Gone

If there was ever proof that the secular establishment sees Hindu rights as a threat, the impeachment campaign against Justice GR Swaminathan is it.

For decades, MPs who now parade as champions of “judicial integrity” have watched judges flirt with corruption, bend the law for political patrons, and sermonise against Hindu traditions. Not once did they reach for Article 124.

Yet the moment a judge insists that a Hindu ritual be allowed in accordance with tradition and court orders, 100+ INDIA bloc MPs erupt like an offended priesthood.

A Rare Judge Who Refused to Play by Their Script

Justice Swaminathan crossed the one red line India’s old ideological ecosystem will never tolerate – He refused to treat Hindu traditions as inferior or negotiable.

His Deepam order at Thirupparankundram did not create new rights. It simply restored what always existed. But to a political class used to vetoing Hindu practices through “law and order” excuses, that alone made him dangerous.

So dangerous that Parliament had to be weaponised.

So urgent that MPs who couldn’t be bothered to read half the judgments they criticise suddenly became constitutional purists.

A Judge Refuses to Bend to the DMK – and That Is His ‘Crime’?

Justice Swaminathan’s order did not disturb public order; it disturbed political order. He reminded the Tamil Nadu government that it cannot arbitrarily suppress Hindu customs, the rights of lay citizens living in the state, under the pretext of “law and order”.

In a state where the ruling party routinely inserts itself into temple administration, this was sacrilege.

The result? Over 100 MPs signed an impeachment notice. MPs who don’t know (probably) where Thirupparankundram is on the map, how it is pronounced, its significance, even.

They signed it not because the judge was corrupt.
Not because he violated procedure.
But because he refused to bow to a government, their ally’s government, that treats Hindu practices as threats.

The Caste Subtext: A Brahmin Judge Defying the Dravidian Establishment

To pretend caste has nothing to do with this would be intellectually dishonest.

The DMK ecosystem has, for years, mobilised its base by demonising Brahmins as symbols of imagined oppression. A Brahmin judge asserting judicial independence, especially in a case involving Hindu tradition, is a nightmare scenario for a party that relies on Brahmin-baiting as a political identity marker.

The attack on Justice Swaminathan fits cleanly into that long-standing ideological script. His caste makes him an easier target.
His rulings make him a necessary target.

And Tamil Nadu’s political class knows it.

And the abuses? Have you seen any other judge in Tamil Nadu being abused for their caste? When Justice Senthil Kumar was just mentioned and mildly criticised, the citizen was thrown in jail. And when abuses poured from the Dravidianist quarters against Justice GR Swaminathan, the ruling dispensation, encouraged it.

Where Was This Energy When Judges Actually Violated Public Trust?

Judges accused of bribery?
Silence.

Judges whose comments openly belittled Hindu beliefs?
Silence.

Judges whose orders gave comfort to extremist groups?
Silence.

But one judge who refuses to reduce Hindu citizens’ rights to a footnote – Impeach him immediately! Mobilise the entire alliance. Draft emotional press statements. Cry about “secularism under threat.”

It would be funny if it wasn’t so revealing.

The Real Target Is the Judiciary’s Space to Protect Hindu Rights

The impeachment attempt is meant to send a message to every judge in India:

Uphold minority claims → celebrated.

Uphold Hindu claims → impeached.

This is not about one ruling; it is about warning future benches. Judicial independence is tolerable only when it conforms to the ideological preferences of the political class.

A judge who upholds secularism is fine, he/she is the best, in fact.
A judge who upholds Hindu rights is dangerous. This is the perverse logic at play.

The I.N.D.I Bloc’s Reaction Reveals More About Them Than About Swaminathan

The great irony is that the only time these MPs invoked the Constitution’s most serious punitive mechanism was to punish a Hindu religious victory. Not for corruption. Not for misconduct. Not for ethical lapses.

For a lamp on a hill.

A Deepam that has exposed a deeper rot.

Sadhguru’s Isha Foundation Launches Free Cremation Service Across Tamil Nadu For Below Poverty Line Families

Sadhguru’s Isha Foundation has launched a free cremation service for Below Poverty Line (BPL) families at all crematoriums maintained by the Foundation across Tamil Nadu. The initiative was formally inaugurated by the Honorable Minister for Municipal Administration, Thiru K.N. Nehru in Chennai. Speaking at the inauguration, the Minister commended the Foundation’s longstanding service, noting that Isha-managed crematoriums have facilitated over one lakh cremations, ensuring dignity and adherence to proper procedures.

The newly launched free cremation service aims to support economically disadvantaged families in performing the final rites of their loved ones without financial strain. Isha currently operates 17 gas crematoriums in collaboration with the Tamil Nadu government and is preparing to assume responsibility for three additional facilities.

For the past 15 years, under Sadhguru’s guidance, Isha Foundation has been managing crematoriums in several districts of Tamil Nadu in partnership with the state government. In these facilities, Isha has revived ancient traditions and death rituals with a powerful energy basis, conducting them in the spirit of service rather than as a commercial venture. The processes are performed with sensitivity and awareness to ease the hearts of the family of the deceased.

The crematoriums managed by Isha are located in Chennai, Vellore, Thanjavur and Coimbatore district, including Nanjundapuram, Veerakeralam, Thudiyalur, Podanur, Vellalore, Alandurai, Thondamuthur, Karamadai, and Goundampalayam.

All facilities are maintained in full compliance with guidelines issued by the Pollution Control Board and the Government of Tamil Nadu for gas-electric crematoriums. Beyond operational management, Isha undertakes environmental and infrastructural improvements, such as developing park-like surroundings, planting dense tree cover, establishing proper pathways, and maintaining hygienic bathing and toilet facilities. These measures are implemented with government support to ensure a clean, environmentally safe facility.

To uphold the sanctity of the final rites, Isha provides specialized training to crematorium staff to ensure respectful handling of the deceased and appropriate conduct within the solemn setting. A designated mandapam is also made available on the premises for performing traditional rituals.

Guided by Sadhguru’s vision, Foundation plans to expand this initiative by adopting 1,000 to 3,000 crematoria across Bharat, working to restore their traditional sanctity and ensure dignified, compassionate service for all.

DMK Leader MK Stalin’s Wife Durga Stalin Offers Puja To Camels Ahead Of 2026 TN Assembly Elections

A video showing Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin’s wife, Durga Stalin, offering flowers and performing a brief ritual before a decorated pair of camels at a Kanchipuram temple has gone viral across social media, triggering competing interpretations and renewed debate over the DMK’s public stance on religion.

It is alleged that she performed the wedding of the two camels.

It is also alleged that since the chief minister MK Stalin’s star as per Hindu tradition is Uthiram, as per astrology, the camel is said to bring good luck.

Given the upcoming Assembly elections being just a few months away, also given the heavy anti-incumbency factor, it seems prayers are necessary and such rituals could help break any negativity.

It also makes sense because in 2023 when the DMK cadre were celebrating CM Stalin’s 70th birthday, they gifted him a camel.

In a hilarious but embarrassing moment for CM Stalin, a man walked in with a camel dressed in DMK’s flag and gifted it to him.

Zakir Shah, a DMK cadre from Tiruvannamalai had brought a 2-year-old camel along with him to Chennai. The camel’s body was wrapped in DMK’s flag. As he entered through the hall, a few DMK cadres can be seen escorting Zakir Shah and the camel towards the CM. He was swiftly whisked down the stage.

Political Reactions and Charges of Hypocrisy

The viral clips have drawn sharp reactions, primarily from critics of the DMK. They have highlighted what they call a contradiction between the party’s vocal criticism of Sanatana Dharma in political discourse and the personal Hindu religious practices of the Chief Minister’s family. This incident is frequently cited alongside previous reports of Durga Stalin’s temple visits and donations, such as gifting a golden crown at Kerala’s Guruvayur Temple.

Anupama Chopra Removes Her Dhurandhar Review In Which She Complained About “Anti-Pakistan Narrative”

Film critic Anupama Chopra has taken down/made her review of Dhurandhar private, after intense backlash from netizens, who accused her of posting an out-of-touch and “tone-deaf” critique of a film firmly rooted in the espionage–action genre.

Chopra’s review, which described Dhurandhar as “exhausting, relentless and frenzied,” packed with “too much testosterone,” “shrill nationalism,” and an “inflammatory anti-Pakistan narrative”, was widely circulated on social media before she abruptly made it private.

In the now-removed review, she argued that director Aditya Dhar, known for the 2019 blockbuster Uri: The Surgical Strike, had created a three-hour-plus spectacle that leaned heavily on hyper-masculine characters and nationalist themes. She also criticised Dhar’s use of real terror events including the Kandahar hijacking, the Parliament attack, and 26/11 recordings, calling the fact-fiction fusion “dangerous and clunky.”

But the backlash was swift.

Did She Expect A Spy Thriller With Bikinis and Gucci/Versace Merch? –  Netizens Hit Back

Social media users pounced on Chopra’s critique, pointing out what they felt were unrealistic expectations from a hardcore espionage thriller. Many questioned her complaint about testosterone and violence in a film led by undercover operatives and terror networks.

Review Taken Down After Escalating Ridicule

Within 3 days, the original review link on her platform became inaccessible, prompting speculation that Chopra deleted or restricted it in response to the mounting criticism.

Screenshots, however, continued circulating widely, with many users contrasting the content of Dhurandhar involving covert operations, ISI networks, and gang warfare, with Chopra’s critique that seemed to expect glamour, nightlife tropes, and stylised escapism typical of Bollywood’s older spy films.

Commentators argued that espionage stories, especially those based on terror events, are inherently intense and violent, and that criticising “nationalism” in a story about 26/11 plotters was bound to strike audiences as elitist and disconnected.

Part 2 of Dhurandhar Arrives in March

Despite the controversy over the review, Dhurandhar starring Ranveer Singh as an undercover operative embedded in Karachi’s Lyari syndicate, alongside Sanjay Dutt and Akshaye Khanna has generated high audience interest. The film ends on a cliffhanger, with Part 2 scheduled for release in March 2026.

As for Anupama Chopra, the removal of the review has only intensified debate over film criticism, audience expectations, and the widening cultural divide between critics and the movie-going public.

“Don’t Tell Me What To Do, 40 People Have Died”, IPS Officer Isha Singh Roars At TVK Bussy Anand

"Don't Tell Me What To Do, 40 People Have Died" IPS Officer Isha Singh Roars At TVK Bussy Anand

The Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) public meeting in Puducherry turned tense on Sunday after IPS officer Isha Singh, the Superintendent of Police, forcefully intervened when TVK General Secretary Bussy Anand urged volunteers without passes to enter the heavily restricted venue – a move that triggered crowd surges reminiscent of the Karur stampede that killed 41 people.
The event, held at the Uppalam Helipad Ground, was Vijay’s first large public meeting since the Karur tragedy, and authorities had imposed strict limits: only 5,000 attendees were permitted, and entry required a QR-coded pass scanned at the gate.

Crowd Surges After Bussy Anand Says “Token or Not, You Can Enter”

Despite these controls, thousands began lining up hours before Vijay’s arrival. As the crowds grew restless, Bussy Anand took the microphone and told the waiting volunteers to remain calm, to stop pushing, and that even those without tokens would be allowed inside.

This announcement immediately triggered a surge. Excited volunteers and members of the public including many women pushed against the barricades, causing commotion, gate breaches, and minor injuries to police personnel attempting to maintain order.

When Bussy Anand pressed the request, IPS officer Isha Singh responded firmly, her words cutting through the chaos and immediately going viral on social media: “You are telling me, what am I doing, what are you doing? 40 people have died.”

According to eyewitnesses, her statement brought the commotion to a standstill.

Police sources said Anand’s announcement directly violated the pre-agreed safety protocol. Authorities had repeatedly instructed TVK that no exceptions could be made and that no one should rush forward under any circumstance.

The SP’s anger intensified after a woman police constable was injured in the crush. Officers described the situation as “minutes away from turning into another disaster” before the SP intervened.

Background: Restrictions After Karur Stampede

The Karur tragedy, which claimed 41 lives during a TVK event, has led to multiple denials of permission for Vijay’s political gatherings, including in Salem. Puducherry authorities also rejected a roadshow request citing narrow roads and dense population, granting permission only for a controlled public meeting.

Tender Fixing, Hawala Routes, Party Funds: ED Claims Detailed Proof Of ₹1,020-Crore Tender Scam Involving DMK Min KN Nehru

Tender Fixing, Hawala Routes, Party Funds: ED Claims Detailed Proof Of ₹1,020-Crore Tender Scam Involving DMK Min KN Nehru

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has sent a fresh, 258-page dossier to the Tamil Nadu Chief Secretary, the Director General of Police (DGP), and the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC), alleging a large-scale tender manipulation and kickback network linked to Municipal Administration and Water Supply (MAWS) Minister K. N. Nehru. The central agency has urged the state to register an FIR under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) and other applicable laws, marking the second major communication from the ED to the state government in just over a month.

ED Claims 7.5–10% Commission Taken on MAWS Department Tenders

According to the ED, Nehru and individuals close to him allegedly collected between 7.5% and 10% of the total value of municipal contracts. The agency’s letter claims that tenders under the MAWS Department covering construction works, public toilets, sanitation outsourcing, NABARD schemes, worker housing, and waterbody renovation were allegedly manipulated, with contractors “pre-decided” before tenders were formally opened.

ED officials say the dossier includes:

  • Photographs recovered from mobile phones and digital devices
  • WhatsApp chats
  • Excel sheets and “bribe calculation sheets”
  • Handwritten ledgers
  • Hawala chits
  • Bank statements and international remittance records

A senior ED officer told The Federal on condition of anonymity, “Every single rupee of bribe is accounted for. The commission rate was fixed between 7% and 10%, often 7.5% on every municipal contract. We now have the complete list municipality-wise, project-wise, contractor-wise, promised commission and actual collection.”

The ED says the alleged kickback collections amount to ₹1,020 crore, based on records recovered from only two individuals, indicating the overall scale could be significantly higher.

“Party Fund” Columns and Hawala Routes Flagged

Spreadsheets seized during the raids reportedly contain a column titled “Party Fund”, suggesting a portion of the alleged kickbacks may have been diverted to the DMK. The ED claims to have traced hawala-based transfers to other Indian states and overseas destinations, including Dubai.

Investigators say the money trail includes bank statements and informal transfer records designed to evade detection.

Second Major Probe Against KN Nehru in Recent Months

This development follows an earlier ED communication on 27 October 2025, which alleged irregularities in an ₹888-crore job recruitment scam tied to True Value Homes Pvt Ltd, a firm linked to Nehru’s brother K. N. Ravichandran. That case involved allegations of 2,538 irregular job appointments, each allegedly involving payments of ₹35 lakh, uncovered during a separate bank-fraud investigation.

Last week’s raids at locations in Trichy, Coimbatore, and Chennai reportedly yielded more than 300 photographs and multiple digital files showing Nehru with individuals described by ED as “key players” in the alleged network.

Thiruparankundram Residents Light Lamps, Hoist Murugan Flags In Solidarity Urging DMK Govt To Respect Court Order And Allow Hindus To Light Deepam Atop Murugan Temple Hill

Residents of several localities around the Thiruparankundram hill on Sunday lit lamps and hoisted yellow Murugan flags outside their homes, reiterating their demand that the traditional Karthigai Deepam be lit at the Deepathoon on the hilltop.

Women in Pamban Nagar, Karumariamman Kovil Street, Shakthi Vinayagar Kovil Street, Balaji Street, Velli Malai Street, Rajiv Gandhi Nagar and surrounding areas tied rooster flags bearing the image of Lord Murugan in front of their homes. They lit rows of lamps and held a collective prayer, urging the Tamil Nadu government and the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) Department to implement the court order permitting the Deepam to be lit at the summit.

The residents also emphasised that their ongoing protests – lighting lamps, hoisting Murugan flags and recording videos of their demonstrations are expressions of long-standing local sentiment. They asserted that attempts to portray the demand for hilltop Deepam lighting as agitation by Hindutva groups or external forces were misleading, stating that devotees who live around the hill have consistently sought adherence to the traditional practice.

Locals said the videos emerging from the neighbourhood clearly show that the demand is rooted in community participation and long-held custom.

‘‘Hindu Is A Persian Insult, Hinduism Was Created by Brahmins To Enslave Us‘‘, Says Former Bombay High Court Judge Kolse Patil

‘‘'Hindu' Is A Persian Insult, Hinduism Was Created by Brahmins To Enslave Us‘‘, Says Former Bombay High Court Judge Kolse Patil

Retired Mumbai High Court judge Justice BG Kolse Patil triggered a major controversy on Sunday (7 November 2025) evening after making sharply critical remarks about Hinduism, Brahmins, and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) at a Sufi saints’ conference in Basavakalyan, Bidar district. The event was organised by MLC Salim Ahmed and inaugurated by Karnataka Environment Minister Eshwar Khandre.

Addressing the gathering, Justice Patil claimed that Hinduism was not originally a religion, asserting that the term itself was of Persian origin and later shaped by Brahmins to consolidate power. He said Hinduism “was created by Brahmins to enslave people” and argued that the word “Hindu” carried a derogatory meaning.

He also alleged that the RSS was behind several communal riots in India, including the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, and said that many people were hesitant to criticise the organisation. According to him, the role of the RSS in such incidents had been obscured over time.

Expanding on his claims, Justice Patil said, “It not the Hindu religion, it is the Brahmin religion. Until 1900, and even before that, Brahmins themselves used to follow a different faith, that the term Hindu is an insult given by the Persians. We the people, do not understand the slur/insult. There was never a religion called Hinduism, there was only Brahmin religion. But Brahmins, using their intellect, enslaved us, divided us and made everyone lose their identity – all this to keep Hindus fragmented and weak. This is wrong, but who will understand this truth? All these so-called saints, masters, and Maulvis are part of the same system. Their job is to keep us divided. Better late but let us start. The poisonous people are so less, they are not even 1% of the entire population. So, if the 99% of us unite, how will we lose? Later, when you see all the riots, the masterminds and instigators of all riots are RSS people. Even the 1984 anti-Sikh riots was started by the RSS people. There was one leader, he called Indira Gandhi as Durga. It was the RSS people who started the riots there. Later, the Congress people went there. But they told the Sikhs that it was the Congress who killed the Sikhs. It is wrong. The first spark came from the RSS side.”

Justice Patil reiterated that neither the RSS nor Brahmins should be feared because they constituted a small fraction of the population. He urged religious figures and community leaders to speak openly about historical injustices.

The event, attended by several Sufi saints and community representatives, took place in Basavakalyan, a town known for its syncretic traditions.

Previous Statements By Retd Justice Patil

This is not the first time that formed judge Patil is letting his tongue loose on Hindus and the RSS.

In this video, he claims the RSS carried out 18 blasts! He says, “There are about 18 bomb blasts which have been committed either by the RSS or by institutions associated with the RSS. The accused involved are office-bearers at the district level or state level of the RSS, Sangh pracharaks. In all these cases, one Raghuvanshi, who was then ATS chief of Maharashtra, involved only Muslim boys in those cases and did not touch the Hindu people, the Hindu accused. It is only Karkare, who was a very upright officer and who performed a miracle, who found that the cases in which Muslim boys were involved were false. In fact, Colonel Purohit, Pragya Thakur Sharma and others, even one Asimanand — you are not bound to give a confession. Even thereafter, Asimanand confessed that he could not bear the torture that these Muslim boys were going through. Therefore, he gave a statement, and he said: “When Vajpayee or Advani do not dare to tell me anything, why should I give false evidence against these Muslim boys?” So, he gave evidence against all these accused, and that confession, though he was warned that he was not bound to give it, he still gave. Now they say that confession was taken under pressure. If you see the record of the confession, he was given an opportunity three times to rethink, and thereafter he gave the confession, saying that even Advani and Vajpayee cannot stop him, so why should a magistrate stop him. So they were involved, there is no doubt. But all criminals have come to power. You know that the Chief Justice of India said: “If an opportunity is given, I will hang Modi.”

In this video from 3 years ago, he claims he suffered in childhood because of the “caste system” and goes on to blame the Brahmins.

He says, “I was born in a hut. From there, my journey as a migrant began, we had two goats and a few hens, and that’s how we lived. I am an example, the son of a laborer. Since childhood, I have seen how Brahmins looked down upon us, how they treated us as inferior. I experienced all of this firsthand. I too worked as a laborer. For four years, I left school and did manual work. After those four years, when I returned to school, the other children were about 14 years old, while I was already 18. The Brahmin boys there — their fathers were educated and came from Udaipur — it was then that I realized that people like us were not even expected to study. From that time, I began to study and analyze Brahmanwad (Brahminism) — its structure and mentality.”

He goes on to criticise the RSS for all things sundry. He says, “I am talking about 1976. That was when I gave my first public speech at a sarvajanik sabha (public gathering). It was about RSS Mukt Bharat – an “RSS-free India.” I said then, and I continue to say now, that the poisonous ideology of the RSS is at the root of all our sufferings. Just as in every religion, there are maulvis in Islam, fathers and priests in Christianity — who hold their own followers tightly in their grip, this too is a toxic ideology. But RSS ideology is especially venomous. That’s why, since 1976, I have been warning about it. And today, it has been proven true.

You can see how the country has been ruined in the eight years of Modi’s rule. When Modi came to power in 2015 and was at the peak of his popularity, I organized a large public meeting in Pune, at Shaniwarwada, the stronghold of the RSS, to announce the RSS Mukt Bharat Abhiyan formally. We declared then that we would stand against the RSS and its ideology. Even at that time, as well as today, people across all castes and religions were so afraid that many did not even dare to attend the meeting. That was the level of fear. What inspired us? It was the poverty and humiliation we had seen since childhood. We were treated like dirt. Even if we stayed quiet at home, we were beaten. But when we learned their “computer language,” when we became their competitors, that threatened them.”

He goes on to say that Sant Tukaram whose abhangs are sung to this day, especially by Brahmins, was “murdered” and was “disguised” as a ‘samadhi’. He says, “Sadly, our people often prefer to live in an imaginary world – of heaven and hell. Even today, in places like Dehu, if we say that Sant Tukaram was murdered – that his disappearance wasn’t divine ‘samadhi’ but a killing – our own community members will attack us. Such is the power of mental conditioning and religious control. We have seen this with our own eyes and felt it in our lives. That is why we continue to work together every day — against the poisonous mentality present in every religion. We work for humanity. If people truly walked the path of truth, of compassion that saints and prophets talked about, the world would shake. But people do not want to do that. The biggest problem within Hinduism is caste. We are trapped in these divisions. To move forward, we must rise above this caste-based discrimination. Only then can we progress as true human beings.”

In July 2025, when the 2008 Malegaon blast case verdict came out acquitting the accused, he called it “death of justice” and “a blow to India’s democracy and secularism”. Reacting minutes after the judgment was delivered, he said he was “shocked” by the outcome.

Speaking to The Indian Express, Kolse Patil said, “I found it extremely difficult to believe that six people died in the Malegaon bomb blast, 100 were injured, and no one has been found guilty in the last 17 years. If no one is guilty, did the blast take place on its own? The ownership of the motorcycle which was used for the blast was proved. There were four meetings between the accused before the blasts. One meeting was held in Bhopal, two in Indore and one in Ujjain. They had recorded the meetings. When they were asked by ATS as to why the meetings were recorded, they said it was done to ensure that no one who attended it betrays them.”

The retired judge said the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), then led by Hemant Karkare, had conducted a detailed investigation and filed the chargesheet after Karkare’s death. According to him, the chargesheet itself laid out the gravity of the alleged conspiracy and the material gathered by investigators. He noted that the ATS had recovered several audio clips of meetings between the accused, explaining that only a portion could be transcribed and therefore the laptop seized from the accused was submitted to the court along with the chargesheet.

He pointed out that the ATS had stated in the chargesheet that “it was a big conspiracy to topple the central government, deny the existence of the Indian Constitution and bring in Manusmriti”.

Kolse Patil further added, “It was also mentioned in the chargesheet that the accused had tried to take the help of Israel and Nepal.”

He said the acquittals would be understandable only if the prosecution had failed to place material evidence before the court. “But if adequate evidence has been produced by the prosecution and still the accused have been acquitted, then I will call it death of justice and a blow to India’s democracy and secularism,” he said.

HR&CE Can Intervene In Temple Mismanagement, Cannot Touch Rituals, Rules Madras High Court

thakkolam temple madras high court restoration hr&ce audit temple

The Madras High Court has held that the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowment (HR&CE) Department is empowered to inquire into allegations of maladministration in a temple when public donations are involved, even if the temple has not been formally notified as a public religious institution.

A division bench of Justice SM Subramaniam and Justice P Dhanabal delivered the ruling while hearing a writ appeal connected to Arulmigu Vembiamman Thirukovil. The matter arose from a plea filed by the hereditary trustee seeking a direction to the District Collector to consider his representation and restrain private parties, now the appellants, from interfering in the temple’s administration.

While disposing of that petition earlier, the single judge had instructed the appellants not to interfere with the temple’s administration and had also directed the HR&CE Department to examine issues raised and take appropriate action after hearing all sides. The appellants challenged the maintainability of the original writ petition and argued that the single judge travelled beyond the scope of the prayer by issuing directions to the department.

In its judgment, the division bench held that the nature of the temple and its funding placed it within the State’s regulatory ambit. It observed, “When public contributions/donations have been accepted, temple assumes the character of a public institution. If public contributions are involved, State can intervene in case of maladministration or misappropriation of funds, following the procedure as outlined in the Act and Rules, and take necessary actions. Right to administer the temple would not include maladministration. Therefore, power of State is not confined only in respect of notified public religious institutions, since the definition of temple would include temple used as a place of public religious worship and dedicated to, and Joint Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner is empowered to decide issues relating to characteristic of a religious institution.”

The bench noted that the temple stood on Grama Natham land, belonged historically to the villagers, and that the entire village community worshipped the deity and contributed to daily poojas, festivals, and temple functions. This collective participation, the court said, affirmed the temple’s public character.

At the same time, the bench drew a clear line between administrative oversight and religious autonomy. It clarified that while the HR&CE Department can proceed against illegalities, it cannot meddle with rituals or customs, “Therefore, in the event of maladministration, illegality or irregularity in dealing with the properties of the temple, the HR & CE department is bound to step in and initiate all appropriate actions. However, department has no power to interfere with the religious practices or performance of poojas in the temple, which is to be done as per the custom and practice prevailing amongst the villagers and adopted in the temple.”

Responding to the argument that the writ court exceeded its scope, the bench held that Article 226 gives High Courts wide discretion to mould relief depending on circumstances.

The judges observed that the power of judicial review “does not confine itself to the relief sought for” and that courts are empowered to expand the scope of the petition when necessary to address the underlying issues.

Finding no reason to interfere with the earlier order, the bench dismissed the appeal and upheld the directions issued by the single judge, thereby confirming HR&CE’s authority to inquire into maladministration while protecting religious practices from State interference.
