Malayalam actor Dhyan Sreenivasan has once again proved that his sharp wit can cut across industries. At the promotional event for his upcoming horror film Visitor, Dhyan delivered a joke that has sent social media into a frenzy, and it came with a clear target: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Joseph Vijay and his ‘friend’ and alleged partner actor Trisha Krishnan.
Addressing the audience alongside co-star Navya Nair, Dhyan quipped: “We are coming together (for a film) when Navya is married and has a son now. Even so, when I become the CM and swear in, I hope that Navya would be there in the front row clad in a saree and with tears in her eyes” .
Just months earlier, on 10 May 2026, Trisha Krishnan had attended Vijay’s historic swearing-in ceremony as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, dressed in an ice-blue silk saree, seated in the front row, and visibly emotional with tears in her eyes . Her presence, alongside her warm hug with Vijay’s mother Shoba Chandrasekhar, became the most talked-about moment of the event
Not one to be outdone, Navya responded with equal humour: “Don’t worry, Dhyan. When you become Chief Minister, I will wear a white saree with a green border, put on a diamond necklace, and sit in the front row with tears of joy”.
A Broader Roast of the ‘Affair’
Dhyan didn’t stop there. He expanded on his “Chief Minister ambitions” during the same speech, revealing that Vijay’s political ascent had inspired his own dreams, but with a comedic twist.
“For the past few days, I’ve been focusing less on films and more on stage shows and advertisements. When Vijay became the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, I decided that I would become one within the next 15 years,” Dhyan said.
He then recounted how friend and actor Aju Varghese advised him: “Don’t try to become the Chief Minister first. Take the first step by becoming the president of AMMA [the Malayalam actors’ association]. Then you can become Chief Minister later after doing charity work and impressing people”.
The punchline? Aju later called back to warn Dhyan against getting involved with AMMA altogether because of “huge issues going on,” and suggested the ideal job for him would be Governor “because there wouldn’t be much work”.
Dhyan also shared his mother’s reaction to rumours he might become AMMA president: “She told me that the reason my father never became president was because straightforward people cannot hold that position. Sometimes, you’ll have to turn a blind eye to certain things”.
“So, today, I am resigning from the presidency of AMMA, a post I never wanted in the first place,” he concluded, drawing loud laughter.

The roast works on multiple levels. Trisha’s appearance at Vijay’s oath ceremony had dominated headlines not just for her traditional elegance – a seafoam-green Kanjivaram saree from Pothys, diamond and ruby jewellery from GRT Jewellers, and jasmine flowers in her hair, but for the sheer emotional weight of the moment.
Fans had noted that Vijay’s wife Sangeetha Sornalingam and their children were absent from the ceremony, making Trisha’s front-row presence and teary-eyed reaction all the more conspicuous . Social media had already been rife with speculation about their relationship, further amplified by Trisha’s cryptic post after the event: “The love is always louder”.

By transplanting that exact imagery: saree, front row, tears, onto his own “imaginary” swearing-in with Navya Nair, Dhyan Sreenivasan has delivered a masterclass in subtle roasting. And audiences world over are eating it up.
