
The Tamil Nadu Q Branch police, in coordination with the Central Intelligence Unit, detained 73 Bangladeshi nationals allegedly residing illegally in and around Hosur in Krishnagiri district during a late-night operation on Tuesday, 14 July 2026, as reported in Times of India.
According to official sources, the operation was launched following credible intelligence inputs regarding the presence of illegal immigrants in the district. The verification drive was carried out in Onnalvadi and Gokul Nagar, which fall under the jurisdiction of the Hosur Town Police, as well as Nallur Agraharam under the Nallur Police limits.
Speaking to the media, Hosur Deputy Superintendent of Police Balakrishnan said that the detained individuals included 22 men, 23 women and 28 children.
He stated that the authorities had provided the detainees with official forms to record their personal details. He further said that, upon completion of the required legal formalities, the group would be shifted to the transit camp for Bangladeshi nationals at Attur in Salem district.
