Isha celebrates 23rd Anniversary of Dhyanalinga Consecration

The 23rd Annual Dhyanalinga Consecration Day was observed today at Isha Yoga Center, Coimbatore. The Consecration Day event began at 6 a.m. at the Dhyanalinga with the magical chanting of ‘Aum Namah Shivaya’ by Isha Brahmacharis. As in previous years, Hindu and Buddhist chants and Christian and Sufi hymns were offered to the Dhyanalinga.

‘Sounds of Isha’ offered Buddhist chants such as ‘Buddham Saranam Gacchami’, & ‘Om Tara Tu Tara Tu
Ray Swaha’’, and & ‘Namo Ratna Trayaya.

Native American songs, South African chants, and Sufi hymns were also offered.

The two powerful mantras composed by Adi Shankara ‘Nirvana Shatakam’ and ‘Guru Paduka Stotram’ as well as Thevaram songs completed the musical offerings made to Dhyanalinga.

Residents of Isha Yoga Center participated in the event. At 6:10 p.m., the chanting concluded with
the ‘Nadha Aradhana’.

The Dhyanalinga was consecrated on June 24, 1999 by Sadhguru after about 3 years of intense
spiritual sadhana. It is the only Linga with all seven chakras energized to their peak. The Dhyanalinga
is a live energy form that can have transformative impact on those who seek its Grace. It is the

The Story Of India’s First Modern Astronomical Observatory

Madras was the city where India’s first modern astronomical observatory was located. William Petrie, an officer of East India company set up an observatory with his own instruments at his residence in Egmore in 1786. He employed a Dane, John Goldingham to help him.

Michael Topping, another senior company employee, took up navigation survey along the Coromandel coast for studying weather conditions so that ships can sail smoothly to and fro to Calcutta. He did it in 1788.

He was impressed with Petrie’s work and both pleaded with the company to take over the observatory and run it. The company accepted and the observatory was set up in Nungambakkam in 1791. The Observatory was given telescopes, clocks and quadrants to pursue research.

For over 100 years, Madras Observatory was the only such institution in the entire country to research on stars. Goldingham was the Chief Astronomer for 38 years.

Thomas Glanville, an astronomer who worked here from 1830-48 prepared a detailed catalogue on 11015 fixed stars. It is heralded as one of the greatest catalogue of modern times.

There are more such intellectual works from different astronomers across the world.

Normal R Pogson, an astronomer here discovered an asteroid on 17th August 1861. Being the first asteroid to be discovered by someone working from eastern part of globe it was named Asia. So many more such asteroids were discovered here. Sappho, Sylvia, Camilla, Reticuli, Capriconi, to name a few.

First modern astronomical siscovery by an Indian happened here. CR Raghunathachary, a son of class 4 employee, whose passion for astronomy helped him move up the ranks and he discovered the light variation of an asteroid R Reticuli. Pogson recommended him as a Fellow of Royal Astronomical Society. Raghunathachary wrote a masterpiece Jyothisha Chintamani on Astronomy. His other work was the Thriganitha Panchanka or the Nautical Almanac is known to many.

So many eclipses were observed here in this Observatory. This observatory laid the foundation for Astronomical observations and study in India.

In late 19th century, it moved to Kodaikanal. You might have seen the Solar Observatory there. This became that! Guess what observatory is present at this Nungambakkam premises now?

IMD, Chennai from where our popular Ramanan used to forecast rains and we as kids were waiting for him to speak for a rain holiday!

And the pillar at the Observatory is nothing but the point where Madras Standard Time is calculated.

The Madras Meridian is this pillar.

RB Sreekumar: The Ex-Cop & AAP Leader Who Framed ISRO’s Nambi Narayanan And PM Modi On False Charges

Former Director General of Police (DGP) of Gujarat RB Sreekumar was arrested on June 25, 2022 along with notorious ‘activist’ Teesta Javed Setalvad on charges of fabricating evidence, committing forgery, and criminal conspiracy.

The arrest came a day after the Supreme Court once again upheld the clean chit given to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the 2002 Gujarat Riots case.

RB Sreekumar who is currently a leader of Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party was also former Deputy Director of Intelligence Bureau.

Apart from being accused of foisting false cases and fabricating evidence in the Gujarat Riots case, the ex-IPS officer had also played an important role in framing Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) scientist Nambi Narayanan.

Nambi Narayanan Case Timeline

In November 1994, Narayanan and his other scientist collegues in charge of the cryogenic technology transfer from Russia, were arrested by the Kerala Police on false charges of espionage. They were physically under the custory of IB officers. The case was eventually transferred to the CBI which concluded that the case was a sham.

Although the CBI submitted a closure report in 1996 stating that the espionage case was fabricated, the Communist government in Kerala had kept the issue lingering for decades.

The then CPI(M)-led government ordered more investigations which was struck down by the Supreme Court in in May 1998.

In September 1999, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) passed strictures against the government of Kerala for having damaged Narayanan’s distinguished career in space research along with the physical and mental torture to which he and his family were subjected.

The Supreme Court in 2018 ruled that Narayanan was not guilty of any of the espionage charges as accused by the Kerala Police and the bench called the case was “unnecessary” and that “he was implicated.” It also appointed a three-member panel headed by a former Supreme Court judge DK Jain  to probe the arrest and torture of former space scientist Nambi Narayanan in the ‘ISRO spy scandal’ that turned out to be fake.

On 14 April 2021 the Supreme Court of India ordered a CBI probe into the involvement of police officers in the conspiracy after the DK Jain Committee report pointed out a conspiracy.

The Nambi Narayanan episode marks the darkest chapter in the history of Indian space as it curtailed India’s emergence as a space power by atleast two decades.

Role Of Sreekumar

RB Sreekumar has been named as one of the 18 accused in the FIR regsitered by the CBI along with former Kerala DGP Siby Mathews. Sreekumar was on deputation in the Intelligence Bureau during the espionage case.

The Kerala police had initiated the probe acting on inputs received from the IB.

Nambi Narayanan and D Sasikumaran were subjected to horrendous mental and physical torture by the then Kerala police and Intelligence Bureau officers.

Deposing before the CBI in August 2021, Nambi Narayan told the investigating officers about his encounter with Sreekumar where the latter had threatened him for not obliging to a personal favour.

“When Sreekumar was commandant at VSSC, he had requested me to appoint his niece or nephew to a post at Thumba, but since the process was fair, she/he could not be selected. Then Sreekumar had come to my office to express his anger to which I had asked him to go out else I would call the police. Sreekumar had said I will regret this in the future.”, Nambi Narayanan had told the CBI.

“I was taken into custody and thereafter, the real mental agony, physical torture which was endless, started. A lot of police personnel in their uniforms and civil dress were interrogating me and asking nonsense questions. If there was a delay in answering, they would start a physical assault by way of slaps and even kicks. When my interrogation was going on in police custody, two or three officers of the Kerala police along with Sreekumar, were present and were laughing.”, D Sasikumaran had told in his deposition before the CBI.

It is interesting to note that former Kerala Former Police chief Siby Mathews, the prime accused in the ISRO spy case had also accused former Intelligence Bureau deputy director RB Sreekumar of forcing him to arrest Nambi Narayanan.

Despite multiple reports and the Supreme Court vindicating Nambi Narayanan and other scientists, Sreekumar accused the CBI of acting like “defence lawyers” to them. He also called Nambi Narayanan as “not a great scientist” in an interview to Times Now in April 2021.

It is this RB Sreekumar who has been inducted into the AAP.

Will Eknath Shinde’s Rebellion Inspire The End Of ‘Parivaarvaad’ In Indian Politics?

Eknath Shinde, a staunch Shiv Sainik, is a self-made man and does not hail from any big political family. It is told that he was once upon a time an auto driver and has worked his way up in Shiv Sena through sheer hard work and commitment. He is in the news now as most of the Shiv Sena MLAs are supporting him against Uddhav Thackeray, the current Chief Minister of Maharashtra who inherited the party leadership role from his illustrious father and the Maratha Hriday Samrat, Sri Balasaheb Thackeray. This tradition was set to continue with Aditya Thackeray being groomed as the next natural leader of the party being Uddhav Thackeray’s son.

Everything turned upside down when Eknath Shinde rebelled against the way the party was being steered away from their core Hindutva ideology of his guru Balasaheb, partnering with unnatural allies like the NCP and Congress, ditching BJP that helped them win good number of seats. Eknath Shinde was not ready to keep flowing with the tide in order to avoid embarrassment to the first family of the party. Now, it has come to a point that Uddhav Thackeray and his family members might have to step aside and give way to the more deserving.

Given this backdrop, why am I saying that Eknath Shinde is going to inspire the end of dynastic politics in India? This is a warning bell to the all the family run parties today. By dynasty politics I mean a structure wherein a party is run by one family alone and not some Minister’s son getting a well-deserved party post. Let me get into details taking example of some prominent family run parties in India.

Congress is going through a very similar phase wherein the siblings of the older stalwarts of the family are proving to be ineffective for the growth of the party. The party has been going down and down and is very weak today thanks to leadership that got its position in the party as an inheritance. The so called G23 tried to do something like what Eknath Shinde did but lacked the confidence and will. I see a paradigm shift after the Shiv Sena episode. Eknath Shinde would have forced several talented leaders in the party to introspect. Congress top brass will be having some sleepless nights now.

DMK party in Tamil Nadu is another family run party that is structured similar to Shiv Sena with some more complications. Mr. Stalin seems to be influenced by a few of his family members like his son, his son-in-law and his wife. The second layer of leadership are some key families again that want to continue their legacy through their siblings who automatically get key posts in their respective geographies. A time might come when DMK will also go through a struggle similar to the Shiv Sena when some deserving party worker will assert himself or herself, challenge the scions of the first family like Eknath Shinde did and will take over the reins.

TRS in Telangana is another party which seems to be run by one family. TMC in West Bengal also seems to be influenced by a family. In Bihar too, the Lalu Yadav family is ruling the roost. NCP is again another party that will not be able to sustain its parivarvaad and will have to transform sometime soon.

Eknath Shinde might have made these first families quite nervous and rightly so. His standing up against his party’s first family so strongly might indirectly be a warning to all the family run parties today. The message is loud and clear. Reorganize your party to a merit and cadre based democratic party while you have the time, else today or tomorrow your family will be shoved aside by more deserving candidates in your party. It will not matter whose son or daughter you are. Party interests will supersede family interests. Indian polity’s patience on parivarvaad is running out quickly!

Kannadasan: The Poet Who Infused Spirituality Amidst Dravidian Gloom

Muthaiyah more commonly known as Kavingnar Kannadasan to the tamil world was born on 24th June 1927 in Sivagangai district. He was a Tamil poet, lyricist, writer, film producer and a philosopher. He has also contributed to the literary world. He has written over 5,000 songs and has also written various books, in prose and poetry, about various religions. An important contribution he has done to the Hindu society is his book “Arthamulla Hindu Madham” which explains the significant foundation on which the foundation of the Hindu philosophy is based upon.

From A Journalist To A Lyricist

He always wanted to get into the film industry. He kept failing each time he tried and finally had joined as a journalist and wrote many short stories for a magazine. Later he was given an opportunity to write a song in the year 1949 when he wrote his debut song “Kalangadhiru kanne un kanavellam nenevagum” for the movie Kalvanin Kadhali. This was the breakthrough in his carrier after which all the film directors and music directors wanted only him to write songs for their movies. He has written for various music directors old to contemporary who include: Viswanathan Ramamoorthy, M.S. Viswanathan, Veda, Kunnakudi Vaithyanathan, Isaignani Illayaraja and others. He was given the title ‘Kaviyarasu‘ which means king of poetry. He believed that he got the talent of writing only through his love for Kamba Ramayanam.

From An Atheist To A Devout Hindu

At the beginning he was an atheist, much a follower of E.V. Ramaswamy and was part of the Dravidian movement. He was infact a card-carrying member of DMK and was a close associate of the late leader M. Karunanidhi. In his autobiography titled Vanavasam, he reveals several unspoken fallacies and the spoils of the DMK.

When he read the book Thirupaavai of Andal from which he wanted to quote some lines for his film song he found a miraculous change within himself. From being an atheist person who did not believe in God he became a person who was extremely devoted to God which is why he named himself Kannadasan which means the devotee of Lord Krishna. This was the period of his life where he began writing various religious texts among which Arthamulla Hindu Madham plays a significant role.

Arthamulla Hindu Madham

This book plays a significant role in showing the bonding between Kannadasan and the Hindutva philosophy. As much as he lived the life of an agnostic, he became a strong believer of God. His faith in God was so strong that he was able to inspire many thinkers alike. This book deals with how practical Hinduism is to follow and how it acts as a way of life. It speaks about the Karma based on which the lives of people are driven.

Kannadasan on the whole can be called as a harbinger of lyric writing in Tamil cinema. A man who has contributed so much to the society though most popularly in the movie field. As a humanist his contributions are recognized by those who have read the several novels and philosophical books he has written. The best tribute to him is to remember all the golden words he has etched in this world and keep revibrating around them.

Notorious Christian Priest With Ties To DMK Instigates Muslims To Demand Separate Electorate And Sovereign Land

Father Jegath Gaspar Raj, a Catholic priest close to the ruling DMK in Tamil Nadu has issued a clarion call instigating Muslims to demand a separate electorate and a separate sovereign territory apart from taking help from ‘external forces’ to protect themselves.

Speaking at a protest meeting organized against Agnipath scheme in Chennai under the banner of the Social Activists Forum (Samooga Seyarpattalargal Kootiyakkam), Jegath Gaspar said that Muslims and ‘Adikudis’ (referring to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes) should send shivers to the Centre by demanding a separate electorate and sovereign land.

He said “India as a country was formed as a republic on the basis of the Constitution. Only till it functions as per the Constitution, we should show allegiance to it. Once it has gone into the hands of RSS, and if RSS will rule this country, we’re not ready to submit to them and we never will.”

Father Jagath Casper also instigated them to defy the Constitution and take the help of Muslim Brotherhood to save themselves.

“There is no mandate that we’ve to live by laws that has been framed by RSS people. We’ve to be strong in that. To defy them we can take help from anyone in the world. We should not take help from other countries as per the Indian Constitution. But if that Constitution is being attacked by RSS, it is not anti-national to take help from other countries. They will call you “desh droh, desh droh” (anti-national). Don’t believe that. To protect this country from these terrorists, you’ve to consider taking the help of anyone!”, he said.

This is being interpreted as Father Jagath Caspar asking Muslims to take the help of Pakistan and other Muslim countries like Turkey to bring the country to its knees.

Jegath Gasper also took a dig at the Congress party saying that the party used to be the ‘rental accommodation’ for the RSS who have now vacated it after they built an ‘own house’ (BJP) for themselves.

“Congress is necessary today and is a very important party to uphold democracy but there is no denying fact that it was the ‘rented house’ for RSS and even today there are people within the party who are renting it.”, he said.

Interestingly, Tamil Nadu Congress leader Sasikanth Senthi too was there in the meeting.

He also went on to call RSS as a ‘terrorist organization’ and urged people to call it so.

“RSS is a terrorist organization. Bajrang Dal is a terrorist organization. Vishwa Hindu Parishad is a terrorist organization. Keep calling them as terrorist organizations. There are 57 Islamic nations. Go to those 57 Islamic countries and take their help to raise the matter in the United Nations about this. These are ‘soft terror’ organizations. ‘Soft terror’ is more dangerous than ‘open terror’.”, the Christian evangelist said.

He also asked Muslims and Scheduled Caste (SC) people to join hands and ask for a separate electorate and a sovereign land.

“If both Muslims and ‘Adikudis’ join, you will make up 42% of the population. I am telling openly, I am neither an Adikudi nor a Muslim. If both these communities come together and tell the government, ‘We are 40%. For SC/ST, as a token you have given 10-11 ministers, but not a single cabinet minister. Just a token posting they have given. If you are 40%, you ask for a 40% of the land. There is nothing wrong. We’ll live peacefully. ” Jegath Gaspar Raj said.

“Even if Muslims demand 20% land, you will land to size of Tamil Nadu, Andhra, Telangana and Karnataka. We have no place in Parliament. We have no place in judiciary. So give us 20% land. If not any place, give us Sahara desert. You can tell them that.”, he said.

“Atleast as a bare minimum, demand for a separate electorate, they will start trembling. Every party will start trembling. I urge you to ask for separate electorate. Gandhi cheated Ambedkar back in the day. Had Ambedkar not yielded to the emotional blackmail of Gandhi, India’s story would have been different.”, the notorious Christian priest said.

About Father Jegath Gasper Raj

Catholic priest Father Jegath Gaspar Raj is officially referred in US crime records as ‘Gaspar Raj Maria Paulian’ as per reports. He is charged for involving in multiple criminal activities in support of LTTE. He was reportedly arrested by the FBI in US on charges of fund-raising for LTTE and bribing a US State Official to remove LTTE from the list of blacklisted organisations in 2006.

Jegath Gasper Raj runs a dubious NGO called Tamil Maiyam which has been interfering in the Keezhadi excavations in a bid to establish the notion of “Dravidian civilization”, meant to serve as a fodder for separatism.

US-Based Muslim Body With Terror Links Gives Cash Awards To Leftist Journos And News Portals

The Indian American Muslim Council (IAMC), which claims to be the “largest advocacy organization of Indian Muslims in the US” has named a few Indian journalists and media outlets as prize money winners of its annual Human Rights and Religious Freedom Journalism (HRRF) Awards.

On its official website, the organization has announced prize money worth ₹3 lakh to the winners of the awards.

The ‘journalists’ chosen by IAMC includes: Akanksha Kumar of Newslaundry, Priyanka Thirumurthy of The News Minute, Shahid Tantray of The Caravan Magazine; Ismat Ara of The Wire, Aishwarya S Iyer of Scroll.in and Syed Shahriyar of The New Issue Magazine – UK.

Besides the above-mentioned journalists, an online news portal named ‘Mooknayak’ and Article 14 have also been listed as prize money winners.

“Extraordinary and in-depth reporting covering the targeting of religious minorities under the anti-conversion laws, persecution of Muslims during COVID-19, and human rights violations in Kashmir were among the stories that earned top honors at the virtual award ceremony held on Sunday, June 19.”, the press release by IAMC read.

Receiving foreign contribution/hospitality by media correspondents/columnists, cartoonists, editors, and owner of media houses is prohibited as per the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act, 2010.

Section 3(1) of the Act clearly states that no foreign contribution shall be accepted by any individual (correspondent, columnist, cartoonist, editor, owner), company or association engaged in the production or broadcast of audio news or audiovisual news or current affairs programs through any electronic mode, or any other electronic form.

The IAMC is a problematic organization with links to Pakistan-based terror groups. It is known for peddling anti-India propaganda at the international arena and also lobbies with US leaders and bodies against Indian interests.

The IAMC had reportedly collected funds for the cause of Rohingya Muslims and used it to pay Fidelis Government Relations (FGR), a US-based lobby firm for getting India blacklisted by the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF).

Mr. Terry Allen, Chief of Staff for FGR was a long-time associate of Nadine Maenza, Chair of the USCIRF. IAMC’s Sheikh Ubaid is friends with Abdul Malik Mujahid, who headed the Islamic Circle of North America, the US front for Jamaat-e-Islami, Pakistan. The ICNA also has links with Pakistan-based terror groups including Lashkar-E-Taiba(LeT).

Earlier on 27 January 2022, Union Minister of Minority Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said that IAMC has links with banned Islamist organization Student Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) and Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). He had also stated that the IAMC is trying to propagate anti-India bashing at the international level.

In November 2021, over 100 social media account holders including the official account of IAMC were booked under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) for sharing fake photos and videos of a mosque allegedly burning in Tripura on social media. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) had deemed the news of violence in Tripura as fake. They also said that there was “no report of simple or grievous injury or rape or death of any person in these incidents in Tripura as alleged in some social media posts”.

In light of this, a complaint has been filed by the Legal Rights Protection Forum with the MHA to look into the matter of foreign funding of Indian journalists and media houses through prize-money by IAMC.

Speaking to The Commune, the Working President of LRPF A.S. Santosh said “If this attempt to influence Indian journalists through prize money is not stopped, it will become a precedent to announce higher and higher prize money in the coming days. This will be used as a loophole to circumvent the provisions of the FCRA Act which clearly restrict Indian media houses and journalists from accepting any foreign contributions.”

“This is a clear violation of Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 2010 and suspected crime under Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002 and Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967”, Mr. Santosh added.

Why Agnipath Scheme Is The Need Of The Hour

In February 2018, I had the opportunity to go to Israel to represent the BJP at the All Party Young Leaders delegation hosted by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of Israel. It was an enthralling and an eye-opening experience both at a personal and professional level.

At that time, I had the privilege to interact with many Israeli youngsters from myriad backgrounds. One was working as a public policy specialist with the government. Another 28-year-old woman was leading a team at a start-up in Tel Aviv. There was another young man who was working as an engineer at Intel.

All of them had one thing in common – they all had served in the Israel Defense Forces as part of their conscription.

When those completing school in many parts of the world are busy making university-related decisions, students in Israel prepare themselves for something else – a service in the military.

For these youth, a short stint at the armed forces becomes an opportunity to develop their personality and acquire skills which they go on to carry with them for the rest of their lives.

Intrigued, I had asked them about their experience in the armed forces, what they do, where do they get posted, what opportunities open up after the conscription period and so on.

Their tales only made me envious.

I was able to realize that the conscription has made Israel become stronger with a young military and a more patriotic population which goes on to shine in whichever field they make their careers contributing to the country’s progress and development.

I had thought to myself – “if only such opportunities were made available for the youth back at home.”

The Youth Conundrum In India

But in India, students finishing school find themselves at crossroads where one way shows ‘medicine’, another way shows ‘engineering’ and another shows ‘commerce/accountancy’.

Most of them end up in the rat-race of either joining a medical or engineering college and others settle for doing a B.Com or a name-sake degree.

College too doesn’t became a space where these youth get to explore and unleash their talents. It becomes another 3-5 years of schooling. Herd-mentality sets in and everybody wants to get a job with a 5-6 figure salary or go abroad and settle down. Nothing wrong in that but it is time that youngsters in India ask themselves in what ways they can help in nation-building.

Be that as it may, there is another serious problem that is starting to rear its ugly-head – ‘wokeness’.

Wokeness is a problem that has started creeping inside young impressionable minds, thanks to social media. Poisoned by leftist media and influencers, many young minds today and are disconnected from their culture and lack a sense of patriotism. Sometimes, they even go the extent of antagonizing their own country for the sake of fame, like we see in cases like Disha Ravi, Safoora Zargar and many more.  If this disease of ‘wokeness’ continues to spread, it will have serious implications for the country.

And that is precisely why the Agnipath scheme is the need of the hour which will induct more youth in the armed forces.

Busting The Myths Associated With Agnipath

Through the Agnipath scheme, young Indians in the 17.5 to 21 age group (a relaxation has been provided this year till 23) will be inducted into the army as ‘Agniveers’ and will serve in the armed forces for 4 years paving way for a younger armed forces.

One of the most common myth peddled by the Opposition and other naysayers of the scheme is about the insecure future of the Agniveers. But the truth is far from what they claim.

Upto 25% of Agniveers in a batch stand a chance to be inducted as permanent cadres in the armed forces after completing 4 years.

All Agniveers will be given a financial package of ₹11.71 lakh at the end of four years which will be exempted from income tax.

Those wishing to turn entrepreneurs are eligible to avail a loan and those wishing to study further will be provided with a certificate declaring that they have passed the Class 12 exam and can also take part in a bridging course for further studies.

Agniveers will also be given priority in recruitment of paramilitary forces like CAPF, CISF, etc.

States like Assam, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, etc have already declared that Agniveers will be given preference in police recruitment and other government jobs.

The Finance Minister has also asked banks to explore ways to support Agniveers.

To put it in a nutshell, if a youth enrolls today as an Agniveer, his or her bright future is guaranteed after four years.

Another baseless myth that is being peddled is that inducting youngsters would hamper the effectiveness of our armed forces. In essence, they’re questioning the abilities of our youth and the credibility of our military officers.

The Indian Armed Forces have assured that with the infusion of technology and revamping of the training programmes, the Agniveers woud have all the skill sets required to meet the operational challenges.

The Agnipath scheme is not an untested experiment on our armed forces as many other countries like China, France, Russia, USA, and UK have such short-term military engagement for the youth. The Modi Government has held extensive wide-ranging consultation with the armed forces. Best practices from countries across the world have been studied and a tried-and-tested human resource managment system is being put in place to keep in tune with the changing dynamics of warfare.

Another ridiculous myths that is being peddled is that Agniveers will become a national security threat as they may be recruited by terrorist organizations.

This is not just an insult to the youth of the nation but also demeans the ethos and values of the Indian armed forces.

Even today, thousands retire from armed forces but there have not been any instances of them joining anti-national forces.

By blatantly peddling such disinformation the Opposition is not just politicizing the army but is also hampering the country from emerging as a strong military power.

A Much-Needed Timely Reform

Warfare today has become more complex. The man-to-man engagement between armies of two hostile countries is much lesser than what it used to be. The context of war has also changed with cyber warfare, biowar and so on. Reforms in recruitment has been a long-standing demand putforth by the highest echleons of the armed forces. In fact, this scheme itself was formulated by the Department of Military Affairs which comprises military officials and not civil servants.

The need of the hour is to have an army which is young, agile, and tech-savvy which is what the Agnipath scheme tries to achieve.

The youth of the country should realize that their insecurities are being played by vested interests to further their own political agenda.

Aurangzeb: An Analysis Of How The Mughal Tyrant Plundered Bharat

Muhi al-Din Muhammad, also known as Aurangzeb, was one of India’s longest-serving rulers of India belonging to the Mughal dynasty. In his book, Aurangzeb: Whitewashing Tyrant, Distorting Narratives, Saurabh D Lohogaonkar systematically disintegrates the lies that were spun around one of the world’s greatest mass murderers by presenting factual data and historical eyewitness accounts.

Lohogaonkar’s book reads more like a detailed forensic study of this dark period that saw millions of Hindus die and their places of worship systematically demolished. The author has presented compelling evidence of Aurangzeb’s cruelty and hatred against non-Muslims and his lack of faith in those Muslims who had recently converted to Islam and even Shia Muslims.

The book conclusively proves during his reign as the Mughal emperor, Aurangzeb was very proud of his Timurid connection, which is clear evidence that he only saw Bharat as his property but not his country. In his eyes, Bharat was the land of the Kuffar, and it was his duty to kill or convert all.

The book gives the exact percentage of many Irani-Turkish people who served under the Mughals and under Aurangzeb. More than 65 per cent of top positions were held by foreigners, and Indian Muslims consisted of only 14 per cent and Hindus comprised less than 20 per cent. The author has actually given pie charts to prove his point.

American historical Will Durant, in the book, Our Oriental Heritage, writes, “Aurangzeb cared nothing for art, destroyed its “heathen” monuments with coarse bigotry, and fought, through a reign of half a century, to eradicate from India almost all religions but his own,”.

The book covers many facets of Aurangzeb’s rule, from his quest to gain power by killing all his brothers and nephews to how he reintroduced the humiliating Islamic taxation of Jazia over non-Muslims and to his constant wars to expand his territory.

However, his most cunning masterstroke was to use his religion as leverage during his struggle for succession. Aurangzeb was a tyrant, but he was also at the same time one of the coldest and most calculating people and his decisions, albeit cruel, were well-thought-out. The story of how he outwitted his older brother Dara Shikho was perhaps his finest achievement from a psychological perspective since he had nothing but hate for his brother, who was not only liked by his father but also by the people.

After Dara Shikho was captured, he wrote to his brother to forgive him and allow him to live in retirement, which many readers might find as new information because it has been conveniently erased from public memory. However, for Aurangzeb, his brother Dara who had translated the Vedas to Persian, will always be a threat, and to ensure his brother’s killing did not affect him in any way, he declared Dara an apostate. Once Dara was declared an apostate, his fate was sealed as now Aurangzeb had a watertight reason to have him killed.

Killing people in the name of blasphemy and apostasy is still prevalent in Islam. Once his brother was killed, his head was paraded all over Delhi to terrorize the people and relish his victory.

For over three hundred years, Aurangzeb has been portrayed as a pious man who lived a simple life, but in reality, he was one of the most vindictive human beings to ever walk the face of the earth. After getting rid of his elder brother, he put his youngest brother Murad Bakhsh in prison, where he was given drugs to make him senseless, and he did the same to his nephew Sulaiman Shikoh. Once every bit of life was sucked out of them, they were both executed and now buried in a Traitor’s Cemetery in Gwalior.

Aurangzeb’s blind and vengeful faith ensured the Mughals were constantly at war which led to the depletion of its treasury. Even his own son, Prince Akbar, who had fled to Persia, said that his father’s quest for more territory in the last twenty-five years of his life ravaged the Mughal army.

He says, “The soldiers are impoverished and unprovided with arms, people have no employment traders being assassinated or their goods stolen. The lands of the Deccan, which are so vast and once seemed like terrestrial paradise, are now a day’s uncultivated, unproductive, and inhabited” (Page 250)

Aurangzeb’s empire travelled with him because he was an extremely paranoid person who did not trust anyone, and in that process, wherever he went, he turned that place into a barren moon as his troops ransacked the countryside, which led to millions dying. His obsession with annihilating the Maratha empire cost the Mughals very dearly as the coffers ran dry, and there was rebellion all over his domain.

Saurabh D Lohogaonkar is not an eminent historian but a simple Indian who decided to tell the truth, and taking a quote from the book, “until the lions have their own historians, the history of the hunt will always glorify the hunter,”.
