Just over two months into office, the TVK government appeared to hit the pause button on governance as ministers and MLAs turned out in large numbers for the first-day-first-show of Chief Minister Joseph Vijay’s final film, Jana Nayagan. At a time when Tamil Nadu faces a long list of governance challenges demanding the government’s attention, ministers were seen celebrating in theatres, posing with fans, whistling during screenings and hailing the film’s release as a festival – this raises questions about priorities in the state’s highest offices.
It was reported that CM Joseph Vijay was watching the film on 22 July 2026 and the next day, news of MLAs and ministers attending the First Day First Show (FDFS) of the film hit the headlines.
TVK Minister Sengottaiyan was seen arriving at the theatre today to watch the film.

Interestingly, Assembly speaker JCD Prabhakar was also seen arriving at a theatre to watch the film.

It seems like most of them watched the film at Rohini theatre owned by Maduravoyal TVK MLA Revanth Charan.
Minister for Prohibition K Vignesh (Kinathukidavu MLA) was also seen arriving at a theatre to watch the film.

Tiruppur North MLA Sathyabama was seen addressing media about the release of the film. She was also seen watching the film, she noted that the film’s release was like a festival and it was the real victory of democracy.
