After Congress ‘Apologized’ To CJI Surya Kant Over Post Demanding His Resignation, IT Cell Head Says “I Stand By What I Said”

Vijay Thottathil, the head of the Kerala Congress’s IT cell, has said he stands by his remarks targeting Chief Justice of India (CJI) Surya Kant, even after the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) issued an apology over a social media post demanding the Chief Justice’s resignation.

In a post on X, Thottathil said the content published through the party’s social media handle was a collective effort and not the work of any one individual. His statement came after the KPCC named him in its response to a legal notice over the controversial post.

“Dude, I stand by what I said,” Thottathil wrote, adding that when the issue first arose two weeks earlier, the KPCC had not mentioned any names. He said he noticed that his name had been included in the party’s statement responding to the legal notice.

“It has always been a team effort, never the work of one individual. That collective effort is what has helped make @INCKerala the No. 1 political handle in India when it comes to content,” he said.

Thottathil also said he was proud of his contribution to the party’s social media operations over the years, despite criticism and abuse directed at him.

The controversy erupted after the Kerala Congress’s official social media handle published a post demanding CJI Surya Kant’s resignation.

Thottathil’s statement has now raised questions about the apparent contrast between the party’s apology and the position of its IT cell head, who says he stands by the remarks and maintains that the post was the result of collective effort.
