Woman leader from Congress thrashed by fellow party men in UP for protesting against party’s choice of candidate for by-polls

A video has been going viral on social media where a group of Congress workers can be seen physically assaulting a woman leader of the party who had questioned the party’s candidate for the upcoming by-elections.

Congress party on Friday announced candidates for by-polls to five assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh and one in Jharkhand.

The woman identified as Tara Yadav had protested against party’s decision to field Mukund Bhaskar Mani Tripathi from Deoria for the upcoming by-polls saying that the man was ‘a rapist’.

Tara Yadav speaking to the media said that she told the AICC Secretary Sachin Naik that the ticket has been given to the wrong person which will spoil the image of the party and asked that the ticket be given to someone with a good character, for which she was beaten up.

National Commission for Women Chairperson Rekha Sharma has taken cognizance of the matter.
