Veteran RSS Pracharak Venugopal passes away

Senior RSS Pracharak and former working president of Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh R Venugopal passed away on Wednesday at a private hospital in Kochi. He was 96.

Venugopal was from the Nilambur Royal Family. He had completed his studies from Government Victoria College in Palakkad and Banaras Hindu University.

He became a full time pracharak of the RSS in 1946 and was pivotal in the development of RSS-affiliated organizations like the BMS, Kesari Magazine and Sahakar Bharathi. He was a follower of the late leader Parameswaran.

He became the organization secretary of BMS in 1967 and eventually became its working president. He represented India at the International Labour Organization twice.

His mortal remains were taken to Madhav Niwas, the state RSS headquarters for last respects.
