TN CM MK Stalin Enquires About His Son’s Latest Film From State Health Min

A video Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin’s public relations (PR) video is making headlines for all the wrong reasons, as he can be seen enquiring about his son Udhayanidhi Stalin’s recently released film.

Kalaga Thalaivan is an Indian Tamil-language alleged action-thriller film written and directed by Magizh Thirumeni and produced by Udhayanidhi Stalin under the banner of Red Giant Movies. The film stars Udhayanidhi Stalin himself, Nidhhi Agerwal, and Kalaiyarasan in lead roles and was released last Friday to mixed reviews, despite being directed by a leading director whose last film “Thadam” was a blockbuster hit.

Now, the film has made headlines for all the wrong reasons, leading one to think if the state Chief Minister himself has jumped into the fray to promote his son’s film.

In the 22-second video, Chief Minister MK Stalin is seen asking Tamil Nadu Minister for Health and Family Welfare Ma Subramanium if he has seen Udhayanithi Stalin’s Kalaga Thalaivan.

In reply, Health Minister is heard saying, “Yes, I saw the film. Normally in theatre, people will go out during songs or little boring scenes, but for Kalaga Thalaivan (Udhayanithi’s movie), people did not move from their seats and stayed throughout.”

It should be noted that the film Kalaga Thaaivan, directed by Magizh Thirumeni, is the only movie in his direction that is released with mixed reviews; all of his other films, including Thadam, Thadaiyara Thaaka, and Meghaman, have received both critical acclaim and box office success.

The video has drawn flak from all sections of the people. D Jayakumar, the former Tamil Nadu Fisheries Minister and AIADMK spokesperson slammed Udhayanidhi and MK Stalin, saying,”While Rome burns, Nero plays the fiddle. Similarly, people in Tamil Nadu are suffering as a result of rain, floods, and food shortages; there are no medical camps, and government hospitals perform botched surgeries. But CM Stalin is unconcerned about any of this. Instead, Stalin and Udhayanithi Stalin discuss only movies.”
