TN Church body had interfered in Assembly elections, pamphlet circulated to vote for DMK+

In a shocking revelation it has been found that the Church in Tamil Nadu had interfered in the recently concluded Tamil Nadu Assembly Election asking Christians to vote for the DMK alliance and not any other political party.

A pamphlet circulated by the Tamil Nadu Catholic Youngsters Movement states that the political front of Tamil Nadu pastors – Chrithuva Vaazhvurimai Iyakkam (Christians Right to Life Movement) – had decided in a meeting convened on 20th January 2021 to oppose the ‘Saffron-Corporate Fascism’ and that the pastors have decided the position to be taken by Catholic Christians in the state for the Assembly Elections.

The pamphlet notes that Catholic Christians must oppose the AIADMK-BJP-PMK-TMC alliance and also not ‘waste their votes’ by voting for NOTA, Seeman’s Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK), Kamal Haasan’s Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM), T.T.V Dhinakaran’s Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) or retired IAS officer Sagayam’s political outfit.

“To oppose the saffron fascism, vote for Secular Progressive Alliance comprising DMK-Congress-VCK-CPI-CPIM-MDMK-MMK-IUML-KMK”, the circular said.

The circular also asks Christians to urge other people to vote for the Secular Progressive Alliance and also accompany the candidate in canvassing for votes.
