Tamil Nadu: Temple ‘prasadam’ sold with signs of other religion

There has been a complaint that other religious symbols have been used on the Murukku offering (Prasadam) packets sold inside the premises of Bhavani Sangameshwara temple. Some members of BJP and other parties were involved in an argument with the shop owners on Saturday, after which they filed a complaint with the temple authorities.

Temple’s Assistant Commissioner, who investigated the issue, said, “It has been found that as there were speculations that a lot of devotees would visit the temple on the occasion of English New Year. Food packets, including murukku packets have come from outside to be sold inside the temple. The shop owners have been questioned and have been issued a notice regarding this issue.” Those who were involved in the argument left after this investigation.
