The young actor died in his apartment last year on 14 June, in what was dubbed as a suicide by hanging.

However, his father and sisters have challenged that he did not commit suicide. A case was registered in a Patna court against his former girlfriend and actress Rhea Chakraborty and Rhea’s brother Showik Chakraborty under charges of abetment to suicide and siphoning off Rajput’s assets.
