RaGa to become Congress Prez ‘again’ after ‘unanimous’ vote in Delhi Congress

Delhi Congress has ‘unanimously’ passed a resolution that could make Rahul Gandhi the Congress President ‘again’ with immediate effect. It is to be noted that this has come only days after the organization announced that a new chief would be elected in June.

Commenting about this, Delhi unit chief Kumar said that the party needed a ‘powerful and dynamic’ leader at their helm and that Rahul Gandhi was the perfect choice to deal with the ‘disturbed political situation’ of the country. “Rahulji has been waging a determined battle to expose the misdeeds of the Modi Government, and his leading from the front as the Congress President was an urgent need to boost the confidence and morale of the Congress workers,” Kumar added.

At the same time, the second and third resolutions demanded the resignations of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal for mishandling the ongoing farmers’ agitation.

Rahul Gandhi, the MP from Wayanad, had resigned as the Congress chief in 2019 after the party suffered a defeat in the Lok Sabha election. While his mother Sonia Gandhi had been ‘filling in’ on his absence, the party’s high command has now voted for Rahul to become the party President again. It is to be noted that several veteran leaders like Shashi Tharoor and Kapil Sibal had written to Sonia, asking for a change in party leadership, as she had been preparing to step down citing health reasons.
