PM Modi pens note of appreciation to woman who donated her kidney to ailing orphan

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has sent a letter praising the woman who donated her kidney to an ailing orphan. Manashi Haldar, a 48-year-old woman from Kolkata, has donated one of her kidneys to a needy orphan. Impressed by Prime Minister Modi’s speech on organ donation, she made the donation in 2014.

She had also written a letter to Prime Minister Modi a few months later. Recently, Prime Minister Modi replied to her letter and wrote a reply letter praising her selfless act.

In the letter, the Prime Minister had said, “The special act of donating one of your kidneys to save a precious life has touched my heart. There are no words to appreciate this selfless service of yours. The virtues of compassion and sacrifice have always been at the centre of our culture and traditions.”

Prime Minister Modi added that this act of kindness was inspiring and appreciated that it would inspire many to go ahead with organ donation. He went on to say that organ donation is the biggest donation as the person receiving it gets a new lease of life, adding that, in our country where lakhs of people are in such a need, there can be no greater donation than this.
