Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh turns political liability for Shiv Sena, may resign

Amid strong rumours that Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh might resign from his post, the controversial police officer met with Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. This comes after the fallout of the arrest of encounter specialist Sachin Waze by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) over its probe into the recovery of an explosives-laden SUV near industrialist Mukesh Ambani’s house.

Singh met Thackeray at his official residence ”Varsha” in Mumbai on Tuesday (16 March) night. There are also reports that in the meeting held on Monday (15 March) between Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray and NCP chief Sharad Pawar, they discussed Singh’s dismissal, as he has now become a political liability.

As per reports published in OpIndia, Vaze reportedly revealed to NIA that top Shiv Sena leaders were involved in planting the bomb outside Mukesh Ambani’s house “Antilia”. The politicians who used the Mumbai police commissioner for their own agenda have seemingly thrown Singh under the bus and have accused him of “running his own agenda and not giving priority to politically sensitive cases, like the fake TRP scam”.
